So as one does I purchased my 14 hour old SR-22 on FSE. Now ferrying it up to the Caribbean from Central Brazil. After a 4.5 hour flight I prepared for descent into Barbados. I knew thunderstorms where ahead but winds were reporting 11kts gusting to 15kts with potential shear in the area. Well long story short 16nm from the airport the shear kicked in and erased any thoughts about an "on rails" flight model (it flew so well I questioned it a bit). Once I hit shear it abruptly noses up, I fought 3 to 4 of these before it caught be off guard. On the 5th nose up I lost all nose down attitude the plane immediately went 90 degrees straight and proceeded to stall sending the nose backwards over the tail into an almost uncontrollable series of loops and just when I thought I had it under control, upside down and headed to the earth with throttles chopped I went to pull it back level. Just as I was about to breathe a shy of relief another shear hit that culminated in me just starting to enter a flat spin at 3500 feet. It was a battle from start to finish about 45 seconds into fighting for recovery I looked at my altitude and saw me broaching 1800 feet, I had roughly 800 feet to make a decision. Can this be saved? Should I go for the CAPS? I was on the edge - decided to continue to fight - at ~950 feet recovery happened, I waited too long but I did it! What could have been a disaster of pilot error flying into conditions they probably shouldn't, low on fuel and oxygen - nowhere else to go I saved it. I was now 8 miles from the airport at which I decided I would finish at 1500 feet, shaking from adrenaline. It's the first time in a VERY long time that a simulator actually had me sitting on the ramp, engine off, thinking holy cow that was hard, interesting, exciting, scary, challenging and a true practice of years of simulator practice paying off in a very practical way. I felt accomplished! To the group who made the plane and continue to improve it. Thank you - this weekend has been fun, but this afternoon has been a resharpening on things I need to practice more and be a little less lazy about - flight planning w/ alternate routes, stall and spin recovery, and most importantly having fun! And importantly - I now know the flight model is pretty darn accurate! ;-)4 points

Hi, I confirm the pathway is not working properly. It should be active during a LPV approach, from the IAF all the way down to the runway. It was active only on the final segment during my test on a RWY12L LPV approach at LFMT. It should also be active (with green rectangles) during an ILS approach (video below). Also, when an approach is selected, the runway representation on the SVS should be a large runway clearly visible even from 10 miles away. It's used to fly the "bird" (velocity vector) onto the threshold during an IFR approach. It can be seen on this video for example : That's details. First off I love this plane. It's beautiful inside and out. If I think how much a carenado bird cost and what you get with this bird for a little more it's a joke. Now to my question: Any one can explain/show with a vid or a tutorial (fool proof instructions) how the lean assist works ? I run a search on you tube and watched a few vids which did help a lot. I can't use the assist on our SR22 tho. All help appreciated.1 point

The aircraft is equipped with Air Conditioning, FIKI TKS, and the Oxygen system all add quite a bit of weight, reducing useful load. The weight of the passengers is visible if you navigate to the SR22 folder -> plugins/sr_systems/settings Inside settings.cfg there are pax1-pax4 as alterable weights. We plan to add configuring these weights in the UI shortly.1 point

assist will just give you the delta peak, meaning the difference between current EGT and Peak, and should show you which cylinder is the first / last to peak. You see it in this video1 point

Every sound is there just either broken via dataref implementation or sound is too quiet. We are fixing everything.1 point

Here is how it works for me. If you loading first time or changing livery: 1. Load default 172 2. Load SR22 3. If XP11 B16 hangs go to 4, if works go to step 5 4 Quit/kill XP11, restart computer go to step 1 5 Enjoy SR221 point

Hi Sam, I was suffering constant CTDs, despite the Gizmo activation going ok and the licence being shown as activated. The solution that finally got me flying in the SR22 was to do the opposite of the advice, to load the Laminar C172 first. After several uninstall/reinstalls, when I finally tried for the first time to simply launch X-Plane and load the SR22 directly, it worked without issue. It seems the "Load the C172 first" advice isn't always the best route. Good luck. David @ EGNT1 point

Well, I edited the files in both versions. It made very little difference, I'm sad to say. If there was a change it was pretty much unnoticeable - and that was a surprise. The PFD, with synthetic vision, looked reasonable, but there are no blacks on the backgrounds, and contrast was still poor. I even tried it with HDR enabled. I just re-installed the plane from scratch (so as to get the original supplied .obj files), and will wait till this is resolved. Please make it look like the pop-ups. Also, for some reason, the heading knob, course knob, altitude knob, etc. won't work on the pedestal, but everything works from the pop-ups, and the changes are then reflected correctly in the plane's screens! I get the curly arrows and hands on the pedestal, but they are non-functional. I can get the AP to work from the pedestal. I've had a few CTDs now on my Mac so maybe I'll wait till 1.01. I even tried reverting to the stable Gizmo. When I get it going, it's lovely - looks and sounds great, and flies nicely. Also, others report the rudder pedals don't move - but you know that. I've been running this in 11.41. Am I supposed to be doing it in metal in the 11.50 beta for it all to work and look right? The beta can be fine, but can also be not so fine1 point

Airplanes all have their quirks - the engines that go in them much more. The IO is more akin to cranking a push mower than a car so it can be a bit picky from what I've heard/seen from the real planes and seen in the simulation of it. I feel like it's accurate within reason and once you get the hang of it it won't take any time to start it. The problem with most piston A/C for simulation is they do not accurately model the complexity of actually starting the engine past making sure you have fuel turned on and the key set to start. This one goes a step or two further it seems - or maybe it's a quirky simulation. But it feels realistic from experience.1 point

If you zoom it it's marked with "altitudes". (preset flow rates) Once you turn the switch on for oxygen when you rotate the left black dial you will see a white ball move to the altitude you are flying at. Check every 1500-2000 feet for matching altitudes in the flow meter with actual altitude past 12000 feet. Marked adjustment altitude vary from 8000ft to 250. As seen in the sceenshot below I'm currently cruising at FL250.1 point

@snomhf this is what I do and consistently get starts. Mixture + throttle to full Prime for three seconds - no more than that or it floods (high boost/prime) then turn back off. throttle to 1/4" open turn key to crank for 2-3 seconds. If while turning the key it seems like it doesn't want to crank, while cranking bring throttle to idle and ease back up slowly. It will turn over. Once warm it start just about instantly.1 point

I do EXACTLY as you describe. I follow this procedure as carefully as I possibly can. I am looking at a 1 out of 10 success rate. It's so frustrating that I've resorted to "engine running" starts which I hate after eight or nine unsuccessful attempts. Maybe I'll eventually get the hang of it but I have a twenty year old chainsaw that is easier to start than this half-million dollar airplane.1 point

I have also mentioned the ignition key issue in VR in another post as well. I've also reported the following issues in VR that they are looking into just in case you experience the same problems that I have: Plane loads and I'm in the engine block and have to manually set the view, I think others have mentioned this. RESOLVED Try to do mixture rich but instead of doing a forward motion with my hand I have to do it up and down, but when I try to lean the mixture instead of doing the up and down motion I have to do a backwards forwards motion Same with the throttle. I cannot even select a fuel tank as the selector goes crazy uncontrollably flipping left and right. RESOLVED I can't even start the engine as ignition keep flipping to the left when I hold it to the right. Also crashes on startup sometimes. Hand break should also be forward to back motion not up down.1 point

Is it possible to copy the code for the fuel pump switch from the SR22TN and paste it over the same coding for the SR22? I would really like to do a complete startup in the Sr22 and take it for a flight.1 point

The graphical bugs are being worked on. Regarding the icing fluid, that is as-designed, as the lines need to be primed for a few minutes to alleviate fluid pressure warnings1 point

The TBM is pressurized. Should you open a door? NO. Can you? Yes. Do we simulate breaking it beyond structural limits due to speed? No. You can certainly open a window and door at various airspeeds in a non pressurized piston. I know because I have experience doing it within structural limitations. At this point it's just being incredibly nit-picky. Fly the plane, not the door.1 point

The product page product says 11.50 only. No, it will not be made to work with prior. 11.50 introduced code specifically for the development of this aircraft, thus I wouldn't expect Laminar to go back and put it in 11.41. What makes you think a non-pressurized, piston aircraft can't have its door open in flight??1 point

Yeeah Baby!!!! That was my first color I flew in too! Wish it came with a beige interior. This thing is GORGEOUS! Also, I stand corrected in my previous observations. When I looked from the normal perspective (sitting inside) I realized the glareshield is curved accurately. Edit: It does come in beige (the non-turbo)1 point

Hello Sundog, I'm actually experiencing the opposite right now - I'm trying to fly out of KMFR, and ActiveSky as well as weather.com shows Medford as being clear, and I'm seeing overcast clouds here that I cannot get rid of. I've verified Global static weather is unchecked, Skymaxx depiction is checked, and Use custom METAR is selected. The METAR file is current, and when I turn off Skymaxx, everything is clear. RWC is selected to use external injector. I've force-reloaded weather to no avail. I'm thinking maybe I was missing a step. Edit - I managed to "Force" the RWC to pull current METAR data by switching from FSGRW / ASXP / External Injector to "Never", then back to FSGRW / ASXP / External Injector. Forced reload of weather and things are nice and clear still!1 point

Seems to me that someone at MS has a pet project and if they were to move on MS would no longer care again. The total revenue for this genre isn't even a rounding error in their books.1 point

Before this turns into another FS vs XP thread, I'll say we've got the FS2020 SDK, and we know what is going into it. And that's where our information will stop. All I want to say about this is that FS2020 is a flight sim. X-Plane is a flight sim. Both have lived and grown alongside each other for the better part of 2-3 decades. MSFS development has stopped once or twice in those 20-30 years, but it has never had an effect on X-Plane to the extent of "Laminar will go out of business." Use whatever you want to use. It's up to Laminar and the X-Plane developers to keep people interested in X-Plane to the point where the community will show enough interest in it to keep using it. We all have our own, individual preferences. And rightly so. Let the products speak for themselves.1 point

Yes, but Version 11.50 is Beta. I always thought that the products are developed for the functioning systems. And this is 11.41. And no beta versions. Will there still be compatibility with 11.41? There are other problems, too. So if I change planes or reload the plugin, there will be crashes. I can also open the door during the flight, that shouldn't happen. So the plane has a lot of potential, but is not yet where it should be. That's too bad.-1 points

so that's what happens when you drive. Try to open the door at 200 km/h. The airstream. No one in an airplane has such forces to open the door at that speed? This is not possible with the TBM 900. The sliding door at the Porter is probably easier.-2 points
