Last week-end our MD-82 was showed in the ModelExpo fair in Verona, there were a lot of interested people and overall judgement is very satisfactory! Did a lot of online flights, mainly IVAO but even Vatsim, with our working TCAS showing all the online traffic.3 points

Won't take quite that long. But it'll be worth the wait. Losing our texture artist was a huge setback, but we're in the final stages of overcoming that. A few changes have been made to the panel. When I'm done with texturing and animating everything on the panel, I'll post a few screenshots of everything working with the code we have in place.2 points

I'd be curious to see your log.txt file after this happens. It might shed some light on whether the crash is happening while SkyMaxx Pro is destroying its clouds, or while X-Plane is creating its own.1 point

Thanks Jan... no rush. One thing I forgot to mention was that as you hold the PTT and frames are dropping there is a subtle increase in what sounds like wind noise in the background. As soon as you close the Ground Service menu you can hear the "noise" disappear. Opening the Ground Services menu will again introduce this "noise".1 point

CDU items have been addressed for next hotfix....the LEGS distances and also the OAT entry ( addition is NOT subtraction Tom)...equation error No work on the electrical yet...that is definitely last page stuff as it took a real pilot who actually gets into the electrics (cause Jan didn't) to catch it. ...but I will want to fix this up one day. -tkyler1 point

Heya, Well, at least you've found out something I have got my r9 290x at the max now, she sure stresses at klax/eham for instance For me the crashes are purely lack of vram (or rather, i'm using as much eye-candy as i can) , i have got my settings so i can enjoy those airports and not crash now But i can replicate crashes easy by going to change a planes livery while in external mode while at/near those heavy fps-sapping areas, doing that just pushes the gpu over the top At least i know now for future problems, though a new minty fresh gpu would solve this easy i guess Was just a case of slowly working through all the variables to find stability, like yourself it's just a case of trying to locate/isolate a problem Hope it stays crash free for ya Have Fun Tony1 point

Some of the X-Plane.Org users will probably already be familiar with this software. I realize its a bit of commercial spam. But because the instruments are downloadable for free, we like to expand the number of users, so this expands the number of free downloadable instruments. Me and a friend of mine created a program called Air Manager. It allows you to create your own 2D panel with ready made instruments which you can download for free, but more important, it also allows you to create your own instruments. Creating instrument is very easy, all it takes are the graphics, PNG's, and a little bit of Lua code which you can create with the help of Notepad++. Yeah, this one crops up all the time. Modern aircraft (even Boeing) will read the ILS front course from the FMC database and set up the AP to follow it upon LOC capture. On the 737, the FMC is not linked to the NAV radios in any way. You have to set up both the frequency and the ILS front course. Front course information is not transmitted by the ILS, just a "fly left, fly right" information. So when the LOC is captured, the plane has NO IDEA where to turn initially, to keep the needles centered. It needs the ILS course to be able to turn onto it. After it does, it will adjust for drift (due to wind, for example). If you set up a SLIGHTLY wrong inbound course, the AP will able to compensate for that (it is the same as having a crosswind), but if the front course is grossly wrong, the AP will turn away from the LOC initially and totally run off it before it has a chance to adjust. This is exactly like it is in the real plane (take it from someone who had to overpower the AP more than once because the plane turned away from the airport on LOC capture, because he forgot to set the inbound course ) Jan1 point

Maybe not a big deal. True, the ILS will bring you down. But it's just not appropriate ... 12 degrees difference with the true or magnetic bearing ... Then again, maybe it's something with the navdata itself.1 point

They actually do have the ability to do this, but we kept listening to complaints about the clouds being too dark and ended up brightening them to the point where this effect was lost. The upcoming 3.2 update will dial this back down a bit. Just to manage expectations though, we're a long way from being able to do photo-quality representation of clouds in real time! This darkening only works at the resolution of the individual puffs that make up our clouds. I actually have code that can do this lighting on a per-pixel basis, but it won't even run on a top of the line PC on anything but a very small area of clouds. When hardware catches up though, we'll be ready!1 point

I said it in another forum and repeat myself here we shouldn't be comparing IXEG vs PMDG or XP vs. P3D, and even less the combination of products. these are two different products on different platforms addressing different customer types. I wouldn't want to put a 737 C into the hands of a few of my sim colleagues, they just wouldn't even get to the point of flying her and I would end up giving private support one by one. XP is too much hassle for them, FSX/PMDG is exactly what they need in terms of out of the box and onto the runway. If I remember the initial hassles I had after my shift from FSX a few months ago with XP, the way of controlling views, settings and its different plugins... Lua, SASL etc etc... and I have a bit of a clue how to handle a PC. Personally I prefer the IXEG/XP combination for many of the reasons above, but then I am really curious to see what PMDG have been able to do on XP with their DC-6. Competition will push every developer further, and that is good news for XP. IXEG keep up the great work, one of the key difrerentiators for this small group of talented developers is the first class support you get: one month in the market and we are already at 4th patch. I know other devs that do not even care about proper communication after launch.1 point

That is a good practice to trim the bird as required for smooth flight. Its grueling, when a pilot fights against the forces on the column. Pulling, or pressing constantly to be able to keep the profile. So, I kindly advise you set and use the trim wheel. It will be your best friend during all virtual, and real flights as well.1 point

From first sight: You seem to be a bit fast, but maybe you are high on weight. Also you are a bit high, the VASI are all white. Try to be at 50 ft at the threshold and look outside! During the final moments your scan should be "airspeed-touchdown markers". Your flare is a bit hard, flare slower. I try to fly the plane level at 2-5 ft, the decreasing airspeed will do the rest. And don't get fixed on reaching 5° pitch, raise the nose by about 2.5-3° depending on your pitch during approach. There is also a description on how to do it in the handbooks. And don't worry if you don't do a soft landing. Most important is, that it's in the touchdown zone, if you can't make it then do a go-around and try again! Last, but not least... do a dual-channel autopilot approach and watch how the AP does it. :-)1 point

Hi gentlemen, I´m not sure, from where the strong wind against us (Navigraph) is coming from and I don´t know Mr. Cameron but here a few words from our side (Navigraph): I have nothing found in my personal mailbox about IXEG or X-Aviation. We are currently looking in the official Navigraph mailbox (https://www.navigraph.com/ContactInformation.aspx), if we have overseen something (which can be happened - for sure, we are humans too). All procedures are there - no procedures are missing from the FMS as the poster here mentioned. So, it´s possible to make the addons compatible with both addons ... Now whats the different between Jeppesen and Lido: Lido declare the SID as Runway "only" transitions (that´s the letter "4" in the SID line).Jeppesen split the SID into a runway transition (4) and a common part (5)This is a major difference between both provider. EDDF is only a simple example, but there are more complex example, where you have a runway-transition, common-part and enroute-transition. The result should be the same, because when I select ANEK1D for 07C, the FMS should merge the runway-transition with the common-part (+ when existing and selected the enroute part). Next difference is the FA and CA terminal path in the first lines Lido coded this as fix to an altitude (means from the RWxxx to altitude)Jeppesen coded this as course to an altitude (means from the current position to an altitude)The result, should be the same - or not? Again, I have looked for a very simple example, there are a lot of procedures, which are more complex like this one. All in all, I don´t see any reason, why an addon can´t handle different sources, when the FMS is developed clean and correct, according the specifications. A really good example is the "standard" GNS430 dataset, which will be used on all platforms. The GNS430 dataset is in real the Fokker/Cheyenne dataset and this dataset exists since many years. Currently, we have no reports about any issues with this dataset, so it would be helpful (if issues exist), to report this issues, that we can fix it. We did use something similar when we developed the electrical system for the Saab. However, the Citation is being developed with an entirely new software framework and the systems will be even more deeply simulated than the Saab.1 point

Avsim is not the fastest with reviewing But it's (imho) still the best simulated turboprop for X-Plane, so congratulations! And regarding the Citation, throw us a bone now and then. Personally I find the process of building is as interesting as the product itself. Best wishes for 2016.1 point

I was using Aerosoft NavData Pro a few years ago but moved to Navigraph because I got the charts from them also. I know this might not be the place to discuss this but could someone explain in short why the Aerosoft one is superior with procedures? So Cameron wrote, "As mentioned, in previous time we have tested Navigraph data over Aerosoft. The result was Aersoft data rendered more accurate to how one would expect in drawing routes.". In practice what does this mean? I'm all for using the one needed but if I move from one provider to the other I need a reason, other than the 733 supports it I still have 8 months to go on my current subscription and as a user I have been very happy with NaviGraph.1 point

That was the plan , to build a plane from 0 , so that the'll learn the platform , and how to develop for 3 simulators while taking advantage of each benifits. After DC6 they will evaluate the market and choose what plane of their fleet they should convert to XP first (737NG / 777 or even 747V2 if it's released till then). As RSR said it's not a matter of "if they'll convert or not" , it's a matter of what first.1 point

Might be wrong but has anybody made an advanced DC6 for X-Plane yet? Keep in mind this aircraft is the first airplane PMDG makes for XP and that even before they release it to their normal sim FSX and P3D. Not bad at all!1 point

Air Manager has almost no limits and is very user friendly, we also offer support and the program is still in development, so it gets better every time. I think that features as OSM map integration, automatic and dynamic caution/warning lists, moving text, etc... really add up, plus a very good user manual/wiki.1 point

SASL is designed from the word Go with both remote and local capabilities. There is a LOT of existing SASL content out there already. Personally I think SASL is an incredibly limiting choice, but if all you want is a gauge engine then it'll do the job.1 point
