  1. In addition to the VNAV work we have also these fixes lined up for the next update: Improvements * Added switch in aircraft file to always force experimental flight model on * Improved tracking ability of nosewheel in tight turns (less skidding) * A "direct to" turn will not attempt to re-intercept the line between current aircraft position and the waypoint * Yoke checklist can now be flipped up and down and yellow bug goes all the way to top again * Added a dataref to indicate if autothrottle is active or not * Added a preference to "pause on Top of Descent" Bug fixes * Fixed right-hand windshield wiper 3D * Fixed fuel gauge testcycle * Fixed leading-edge devices lighttest button * Fixed EGT needle on steam gauges not going higher than 800C * Fixed hydraulic accumulator pressure on modern gauges always showing full pressure * Autopilot trim cutout switches will now also stop the speed trim * Scavange pump will not trigger unless a center-tank pumpswitch has been turned on then off * Animated stopwatch buttons * Vertical speed scrollwheel can now turn "infinitely" (instead of running against an invisible turn limit) Cheers, Jan

  3. Hello All, This will serve as a formal forum announcement that we have released the version 5.0.1 update for SkyMaxx Pro. All customers who have purchased SkyMaxx Pro v5 up till now have been sent an e-mail by X-Aviation with complete instructions on how to obtain your update. We have made this a very simple process! For those that purchase SkyMaxx Pro v5 from today forward, your purchased download will already be updated to version 5.0.1 for you. What if I didn't get the update e-mail? If you did not receive your update e-mail don't fret! X-Aviation has updated our system to allow all customers to update with ease, regardless of whether you received an e-mail for the update! Here's what to do: 1. Login to your X-Aviation account here: https://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/account_history.php 2. Find your original SkyMaxx Pro v5 download and re-download the file. It will download as the latest version! IMPORTANT: Today we received numerous reports of terrible performance when it came to frame rates, and even crashes. Upon further investigation, we came to the realization there was a situation where XPRealistic and SkyMaxx Pro v5 would cause major issues in the depth buffer and create a big memory leak. After discussing the matter with the developer of XPRealistic, we have an understanding of why this is happening, but we don't know when he will have time to make any changes on his end. We understand there is a lot of excitement around release time, and there's nothing more disappointing than having clashes like this. Because of that, we are releasing an emergency patch to hopefully rectify this situation, at least temporarily. We are doing this at the risk of there being a bug or two, but we feel it's important to have you up and running for the weekend. It is also possible that any aircraft or plugins which made changes to datarefs used for head tracking, ground, and head shake simulations were also playing into this. As a side note, always remember to monitor your GPU and CPU times when tuning your X-Plane rendering settings. Evaluate your needs of antialias settings. We find a good setting if your GPU is running slower than the CPU is to set your X-Plane antialiasing to 2X SSAA+FXAA. There is not a whole lot lost in doing this. Here's what's changed in version 5.0.1: What's New / Changed: Core code changes to prevent depth buffer clashes with XPRealistic. As always, thanks for purchasing from X-Aviation! We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you more in the future!

  4. Quick update: We are deep into the VNAV rewrite. Not just poking around and tweaking....we're cutting out huge swaths of inefficient code....and I have to say, its going really well so far. I believe this will make the VNAV calculations an order of magnitude easier to perform.....and if there are any issues during testing, at least I don't believe it will be "whack-a-mole" where one bug creates another. We'll keep you posted. We are working on this regularly at this juncture. -tkyler

  5. The new Skymaxx 5 was an instant purchase for me. Yesterday, before I went to bed I installed the original release and started to my first flight with the 5.01 update today. I have deactivated XP Realistic and have unlimited cloud range, using the 3D option and very high fps. Once again you have pushed the clouds on a high and nice level.

  6. Well now....I've got my 40+ FPS back with SMP5. Still struggle with the dark clouds but I'll figure that one out. Thanks for the quick update !!

  9. Whilst I’ve yet to test V5.0.1, I would like to express my gratitude to Cameron and Sundog for going above and beyond. The easy approach would have been to wait for XPR to issue a fix, instead, recognising the excitement and expectations set by a new ground breaking product, you opted for an interim SMP V5 patch to get your customers going. Respect. Great customer service will always be rewarded by loyal customers.

  10. Impressive response! Kudo's to the team. Full disclosure - XPRealistic is a "cute" plug-in but not one I would miss terribly if interaction with another plug-in caused a major issue. Still, it's a fun type of plug-in and I hope that dev will continue to work with you folks. Thanks!

  11. That rain cell with the clouds. I have missed this. Aside from the XP bug. This is something else. Thank you.

  12. I just bought SkyMaxx Pro and real weather connector as a performance friendly alternative to xE. The volumetric clouds are completely invisible at night and all other clouds are easy to see through to the ground. Draw distance for me is horrible maybe 20-30nm even with the sliders all the way up. I also purchased real weather connector at the same time and I feel like I just threw $60 away as I had much better results with default wx and a few .lua scripts.

  13. No, volumetric does not use ANY textures.

  14. Glad I looked here. I was just going to post the same thing. Flying alone isn't great but that's not exactly what I had in mind when thinking about flying with someone I did notice in the last incarnation of version 4 that the edges of shadows were moving with my plane's movement but the whole issue has been raised a notch with the moving lines even clearer and the ghost ship flying by. Looking forward to the fix. Love what I'm seeing so far. Thanks for the awesome work. Cheers and Blue Skies!

  16. Thanks for your fast reply! So far my card worked very well in 4K Settings (use it for a few years alreday) also in P3D an MSFS with 3D Clouds. XP11 is running very smooth with it, also on complexe airports. Will post the screens later on when I´m back on my gaming pc. Best regards, Holger

  19. Thanks Cameron. I'd figured that out immediately, and done it. What I was asking was "did the message advise Mac users to definitely choose volumetric?" However, as I did the 5.0.1 update, the message popped up and, this time, I read it properly Take care.

  21. Cameron, I tested all the Boeing flight factor aircraft and now they work. Once you get used to SkyMaxx it's traumatic to fly with out it. Thank you! Andy

  24. Please be sure to download the just released 5.0.1 patch and let us know how you go.

  25. Yes, this is expected behavior. As you are moving the time, you are causing the light to re-render what's happening with the clouds.

  27. Do you have some kind of firewall or something blocking this connection? Between the lack of server connection and that XPUIPC alert, something makes me things you have a firewall or antivirus block going on.
