  1. The plan is to release video tutorials that go WITH the plane...that is the product will come with several PDF tutorial documents, and each will have an accompanying video. We had thought about releasing them prior to release, but that probably won't happen...things moving fast you know In addition, these will be "private" videos on YouTube where you will get the links to the videos in the tutorial PDFs that come with the plane. We don't mind if the links get shared around though, TBH.

  2. You have to memorize them (if you didn´t, your instructor would send you home crying on your first day of your type-rating) For those with beginning Alzheimer (like me) there is a quick-reference table on the backside of that laminated "checklist" that you can pull out of it´s holder on the glareshield. 3. Of course, nothing is. But what I meant by 'bug-free' was with respect to other X-Plane simulations. For example, there's a rather well-known simulation of the B777-200LR in X-Plane (I don't want to mention developers) but cutting to the chase: it required a user to fix bugs (such as a wrong font - is it that hard to purchase the correct weight of Futura to use in the cockpit?) and completely re-model the 3D cockpit to more accurately match the plane; the plane still is rather buggy but I still fly it because my only other option is the BAW 777 in the Other Aircraft folder in X-Plane, which is even worse since it uses the default X-Plane FMS and a 2D cockpit. All I want is a plane that just works, looks realistic and flies realistically. Furthermore, if the plane messes up (or I mess up while flying it), I can follow the proper procedures instead of doing some half-baked unrealistic nonsense. I especially look forward to the IXEG 737 since it's halfway between a full steam and a full glass cockpit. I'm getting tired of pushing LNAV and VNAV and following the magenta line on the 77L.

  4. You need to be mindful of the available options in Real Weather Connector. Failure to understand them will result in situations you may not like. So, be sure you select the option which best fits the type of flight you are going to have/use weather data source from. The settings and how/when to select them are as follows... Automatic: RWC will only be active when X-Plane’s weather is set to “grab real weather from the net”. Use this setting if you fly with X-Plane’s built-in real world weather, if you use the FSGRW add-on, or if you use future weather add-ons that communicate with X-Plane using its METAR.RWX file. For most users, this is the best setting. In this mode, if you set up X-Plane to automatically download METAR-based weather information from the Internet, RWC will use this detailed information to position clouds. When real weather is off In X-Plane, RWC will be automatically deactivated, and clouds will be placed using uniform cloud conditions specified in X-Plane’s weather dialog instead. X-Plane’s real weather settings are found under X-Plane’s Environment menu. Select the Weather screen, and select “grab real weather from the net” to ensure RWC has the information it needs. For more information on X-Plane’s real world weather system, see http://www.x-plane.com/?article=downloading-and-using-real-weather Always: RWC will always position clouds using downloaded METAR data. Use this setting if you need to use an add-on that overrides X-Plane’s weather with uniform weather conditons surrounding the plane (using datarefs,) but you still want the benefits of RWC. Examples include XSquawkBox (used with VATSIM), IVAO, NOAA Weather, and EFASS. As of this writing, these add-ons disable X-Plane’s real world weather system, and inject uniform weather surrounding your plane that abruptly changes as you move. The “Always” setting provides a work-around. In this mode, RWC ignores any cloud information coming from X-Plane or its add-ons, and instead downloads its own METAR data directly from NOAA to position the clouds with. This allows RWC to keep control of the clouds, while still using the other features of your add-ons (such as winds, turbulence, network flying, etc.) Setting up specific cloud conditions via X-Plane’s weather dialog will have no effect while RWC is in “Always” mode, so be sure to set RWC back to “Automatic” if you want the ability to disable real-world weather later. Never: RWC is disabled Use this setting if you need to temporarily disable RWC, or if you want to use an external dataref-based weather add-on in its intended form. In this mode, RWC will be disabled, and SkyMaxx Pro will instead position clouds using uniform weather conditions specified in datarefs. For example, if you are flying on a network that synchronizes weather conditions, it might be more important to see the same weather conditions other pilots see, even if it is less detailed than what RWC can represent. You might want to disable RWC while flying on a network, and re-enable it while flying offline. If your add-on disables X-Plane’s real world weather system (most do), then RWC’s “Automatic” setting will automatically disable RWC while your add-on is active anyhow.

  5. I have the exact same feeling about that Since I watched the video (and heard what Jan said) I nearly check the ixeg.net site every 2 hours for a text that says "released - available now"

  6. Hi All, Real Weather Connector has now been released. We expect the next few days to be very busy with the normal inquiries and support from a product release, but do know we are here, listening, watching, and will assist as much as we can and as quickly as we can. The support section is here. We will now close the work in progress section to reflect the release of this progress. Thanks to all who have purchased already!

  7. I don't think any new release has ever been that fortunate! We do thank you for the kind words though as Cameron says, and we do anticipate bugs somewhere...there are over 300,000 nav aid points, in all sorts of combinations...but we have put a goodly amount of work in to writing some debug tools and getting ready to process bug reports and fixes as quickly as we can. We certainly don't intend to sit around after the release. -tkyler

  8. Agree. I don't fly the PMDG 777 as much because it's really just a button pusher and FMC simulator. I could fly it with VORs and hand fly it, but once I got the FlyJSim 732 I realized there's more fun on that side. I think this version is the best place for *me* to be - FMC but as Jan pointed out in the video, you can fly it almost any way you want to if you know the systems. Also, the cockpit sounds in the last video seem spot on for real life. I fly as a passenger for work on 737s often, and the engine surge sounds and cadence in the video gave me chills. Put the champagne on ice fellas and get ready to celebrate....

  9. Nothing is bug free, not even the real aircraft has bug free systems! Be sure some quirks will arise when released for such a massive complex detailed simulation. Anyway, i fully agree with you the IXEG bird will raise the bar substantially on xplane and i am quite confident we will get a marvelous product for the money that they been working on for years with passion and proper skills.

  10. I've been extremely silently following these Progress Updates since two years ago, and I've seen the IXEG 737 go from having steam engine gauges to the near-complete marvel it is today. I'd say this gives PMDG a massive run for its money, and hopefully it'll be a well-tested, bug-free release which I'll enjoy from the get-go. Well done to the entire IXEG team, from @Litjan, to @tkyler and @Cameron and others who've spent all their free time on this. Coupled with the x737 3D cockpit, my short-haul liner hangar will be more complete than it is now.

  11. I must say... wow! Did an one hour test flight (VFR) around my home area (EDHK). Experienced broken, few, solid cloud layers and formations and a few changes in WX all around. Using FSGRW by the way. Really immerse feeling now. Finally SkymaxxPro is there where it should be and where it should be developed further on, despite it's a "WOW" product for me. Transitions are smooth, cloud formations are as I would expect them to look (given only METAR information). Very nice to the last cloud puffy. To the whole team: Well done!!! This is a game changer for me and makes flying low and slow a real pleasure now. Thank you!

  12. Generally, we don't comment on other designers work. We are confident that the quality of our aircraft is good enough to stand it's ground nicely on it's own. Besides, our view is that the more other quality aircraft there is for X-Plane (freeware or payware) the better for everyone. The real competitors are other platforms, and we hope that both the x737 and IXEG 737 will help attract more users to X-Plane -> which again will attract more designers... etc.

  18. Yes; if you set RWC to "always", then it will download its own METAR data and use it to position the clouds even if NOAA is present. That way you can use RWC's clouds together with NOAA's worldwide upper level winds. It's a last minute feature we added; for awhile we were saying it wouldn't work with NOAA so you're not imagining things

  19. Was hesitant at first to add it to the SMP latest and finally gave in. Wow is right Jacob! Did several legs from LSZH to LFMN then LEBL and the Heavy weather in Zurich and rest of Switzerland, light to medium for the rest sure proved the work you people did as SUPER! Frame rate pretty good considering the heavy scenery in the Alps (25-35 then about 40 average above heavy city scenery and above 60's near coastlines and over water. Really enjoyed the mostly non stuttering flight in a realism as close as it gets! Thanks for y'alls hard work. Glad I "...gave in." edit...btw, same and better with JAR and Rotate MD80 ac which are pretty loaded with gfx and other heavy 'stuff'. edit 2 lol Also, running X-Life to boot!

  24. Captains, With SkyMaxx Pro 3.1 now out the door and so much positive feedback coming back to us through various channels, we're ready for the next step: Real Weather Connector! We have completed our beta testing phase and the packaging for retail begins now. For those of you hearing about Real Weather Connector for the first time, Real Weather Connector couples with SkyMaxx Pro v3.1 when you have the real weather option selected in X-Plane. Without Real Weather Connector there is a limitation in the X-Plane plugin SDK which makes it impossible for products like SkyMaxx Pro to access real weather data in far out distances. Instead, you would see real weather ONLY for the area your aircraft is flying over, and it would be uniformly set for the entire scene (meaning you can't see overcast ahead if broken clouds are below you; the whole scene would be broken clouds instead). After a ton of work (more programming code than in SkyMaxx Pro v3 itself!), Real Weather Connector now makes this possible reading downloaded weather data from the default X-Plane real weather METAR file format OR a program like FSGRW (note: EFASS and NOAA are not compatible with Real Weather Connector as they do not provide the required data files for Real Weather Connector to be able to work its magic!). We have actually had rather spectacular results with the default real weather download functionality in X-Plane. These third party programs (like FSGRW) are optional, not required! So, again in simpler terms, Real Weather Connector lets you see different weather conditions in the distance, and fly into them smoothly, just like in real life. All of the clouds around you will be in the right place and at the right altitude, and won't just "pop" in as you fly. If you look closely at the screenshots below, you'll see there are many different weather systems and cloud conditions visible in the same view - that wasn't possible before with SkyMaxx Pro v3! Real Weather Connector will be released this coming Friday, April 15, 2016. As a thank you to our current customers, anyone who purchases SkyMaxx Pro v3 prior to April 15, 2016 will receive a discount to be used towards the purchase of this product! We will send out discount codes before the product goes live so you have the opportunity to purchase this product as soon as it's available. Of course, no final announcement is complete without a promotional video (and more screenshots below the video), so we're excited to show you that now! Further to the video above, check out some of these awesome images by @Yidahoo showcasing Real Weather Connector in action. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! We'll see you in the skies with awesome weather scenes this Friday!

  35. Exactly right. While technically reading forums and posting stuff takes time (that could be used for development) it doesn´t work like that. Even coders are human beings that have other needs and desires besides coding . And if you neglect those other needs (like breathing, eating, OR partaking in forum discussions), productivity suffers. Here is my favourite example: I know the whole team enjoys the discussions (mostly) and even getting annoyed is sometimes helpful as it masks the pain of coding an FMS... Jan

  38. No. It is absolutely possible to find 737-300s flying with the same light timing and sequence as the IXEG simulation, just as it's absolutely possible to find switches in the cockpit in reverse form. The lights have custom logic as is.

  40. Hey, enthusiasm is certainly welcome! It won't be right at 00.00 I don't think (we're EST by the way), but it shouldn't necessarily be too long after either. Our last minute offer for people to get their SkyMaxx Pro orders in ends at 1159pm, so once we have those all in we can ship out discount codes. In the meantime you can read the manual to ease the pain! ....
