  1. So we finally have something visual to show for the next update. With our 3D toolchain in place, we are able to make 3D updates reasonably quick... thoughit still takes time to add in the detail. This is a screenshot showing a typical mesh refinment before/after. Whereas when we started the 737 10 years ago, we had to be conscious of our polygon count, its not as bad as it was and X-Plane and modern hardware can suppport more detail. So as we move forward with our updates, we will be making these kinds of refinements around the airplane...moreso out of the cockpit than in, because the cockpit was done pretty darn well the first time IMO. We'll show more sneak peeks as we have stuff to show. -tkyler

  3. This is caused by a bug in the SVS system, it is being worked on by us and HotStart and we will push a fix once it is ready.

  4. Received this email today from Tanguy. Awesome photo, so I thought I'd share it (with permission) I'm a B737 pilot with more than 1500h on B737/300/400/500W and wanna congrat IXEG for the amazing product you created. Im Very impresed with the fidelity. Still some minor bugs and fix but its awesome. Attached is a pic for you guys. Kind Regards! Tanguy

  5. SimBrief lets you share custom airframes now, so here are airframes that match the IXEG model reasonably accurately. Empty weight and fuel tank capacity both come from the .acf file (fuel capacity adjusted slightly to match the popup fuel slider tied to the GRD CALL button on the overhead panel). The maximum ramp/taxi weight is also obtained from the .acf file, and the other weights (MZFW, MLW, MTOW) derived from a weight variant in the official Boeing "Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning" document: https://www.boeing.com/commercial/airports/plan_manuals.page Given how the IXEG models the 737-300 with CFM56-3B1 ENGINES (20,000 LB SLST), that leaves three column to choose from in the 737-300 table (page 18 of document D6-58325-6). It should be noted that the IXEG has the following weights: 35,462lb fuel 72,380lb empty 139,374lb maximum (ramp?) The fuel capacity corresponds to the column with standard tanks (35,584lb usable fuel), the empty weight matches more closely with the column corresponding "AIRPLANE WITH 810 GAL (3,065 L) AUXILIARY FUEL TANK IN AFT CARGO COMPARTMENT " (72,540lb). When you pick the column for the aircraft without extra tanks, you get an MZFW of 105,000 and an MTOW of 124,000lb, giving a maximum payload of: 32,620lb or 141 SimBrief passengers at 230lb each with 19,500lb of takeoff fuel 17,620lb or 76 SimBrief passengers at 230lb each with 34,500lb of takeoff fuel Thus I also include a variant without additional fuel capacity but with the increased weight limits corresponding to that version (MZFW of 106,500 and MTOW of 135,000), for a maximum payload of: 34,120lb or 148 SimBrief passengers at 230lb each with 28,500lb of takeoff fuel 28,120lb or 122 SimBrief passengers at 230lb each with 34,500lb of takeoff fuel Since neither weight variant can accommodate 149 passengers (FAA exit limit) at 230lb, I set the passenger capacity to 134 seats ("typical" capacity for all-economy at 6-abreast). This is easily adjustable in either direction on your end. I also added an intermediate version with an MTOW of 130,000lb (middle column) just because I can. Note: please log in to SimBrief before following the links below. I also recommend opening one link at a time, as opening multiple links in quick succession before saving all airframes at the end may sometimes result in profiles accidentally overwriting each other. 9. Hi guys, Any chance the video will be uploaded to Youtube? More people would probably buy it on day one if they could see it on video Also, just checked, it's on FS Economy, it's not expensive there and can take 10 people, I foresee that FSE players will be interested in it :>

  11. Guten Morgen Jan, Thanks for the tip. I went in Planemaker and increased all RGB values of the external lights from "1, 1, 1" to "8, 8, 8". Now this looks more like it in my opinion: I see your point about people thinking lights should be brighter than they really are. But I've done a few hours of night flying in a Cessna 172, practicing landings WITH and WITHOUT the landing light on, and the difference is abismal. That landing light is very strong! In real life our eyes also adapt much better to night vision than what a simulation through a monitor can replicate. Therefore I'd rather be on the "too bright" side on X-Plane so that I can actually see something. Danke sehr! Jaime

  13. With the release of Metal/Vulkan, custom effects like this (librain) are no longer compatible and new work arounds will need to be made. At this time Laminar is still heavily developing the API's and doesn't want to give everything up just yet, so there are some sacrifices like this for the time being.

  14. Thank You! Just did a flight from KBTE to KATL with no CTD at all. Appreciate it! This is my Favorite of the 737's , would hate to have lost it.

  15. Thanks for reminding me how old I am. A lot has happened in the last decade. It's no secret that Jim, who was coding the Citation, was hired by Laminar soon after the Saab was done. It's a guaranteed income working on X-Plane. I don't know any developer who would say no to that. I decided to work on a new version of the C23, DC3, (including the mobile version), Saab 340 and get up to speed on PBR workflows, which included learning how to UV map and texture 3D mesh. Prior to the Saab, I had no clue how to do this. And then the TBM 900 project fell on my "virtual desk" at the beginning of 2018. Back then, when we were working on the Citation, we didn't think demand for the Saab would be what it is. There is an overwhelming response to get it upgraded to XP11+ standards. So, to cut it short, will it be finished? We want it to be finished, and we plan to get it finished. But it all depends on Jim's and my schedules. I still have 3D model and textures. ETA? We stopped giving out ETA's a few years ago. Simply because when we do, they always backfire on us. However, I'm hoping that in the meantime, the CL650 I'm working on will give the bizjet fans their bizjet fix.

  16. Just thought you guys might enjoy watching this. I particularly laughed out loud when the guy was surprised that the throttles were moving by themselves!

  17. CTOT is what you have on the SAAB340 for TO & GA. The CTOT system is used during takeoff and go-around for providing constant torque so you have not to adjust manually during those critical phases. to use it: 1. select desired torque value rotating the CTOT knob (pedestal) 2. arm the CTOT switches (pedestal, aside the knob) 3. when you are runway aligned and ready for TO. advance the throttle levers, CTOT will kick in when you pass 65% throttle lever BUT DO NOT overshoot 15-20% less than selected torque. Otherwise you override CTOT and go manual. This is in case you do require to override, you continue to push. note: to make this easy, just start pushing the throttles slowly until you see CTOT to kick in and leave them there. note: also engage autocoarsen on the overhead panel for TO and GA, this is to reduce drag due to windmilling in case of an engine failure hope this helps
