  1. and i'm loving every minute. The plane and its craftsmanship, both 3D modelling and programming are seriously on another level. This has set the new standard right across flight simulation...

  2. Seriously, expecting any kind complex software to be released 100% bug free is just being naive, it is impossible. If you run into issues during the first few days after release you cannot be surprised, the devs are actively working to fix all the issues and 2 patches have already been released, not much else can be done. The plane has been in beta for a while, you could see A LOT of people flying it live on twitch without any of the issues you have mentioned. You can beta test as much as you want, in the end you will have more users than you had testers and therefore they will find bugs that have slipped through the cracks. If you buy a hockey net with holes you bring it back for a refund, you don't go complaining to the manager about how they need to change their manufacturing process and quality control. That won't help anything, you just go to the store and they will fix it or give you another one. These things happen.

  3. I would make a few adjustments. Turn down reflection detail to zero. You'll still get reflections. This is pretty much, across the board in recommendations for performance increase. Experiment with AA. I'm not too familiar with 5K retina screens and how they perform, but I understand with such a high resolution, it'll tax the GPU pretty aggressively, with that many pixels. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I would love to make a lower res texture set, and I will discuss with toto about this, and then upload as a separate option for people with performance issues. I'm currently in the middle of doing so, and will run some tests. I'm also reducing the poly count of the mesh. We'll get there. I'll address each point: I have the exact same set up. CPU, screen size and GPU. The lowest fps I get is high 20's-low 30's, in built up areas. What I would like to address is the higher the quality, the more power needed to pump out that quality. I wanted to make textures that were very clear and sharp, while still maintaining performance. And for that, I used our computers as well as the testers and streamers computers for a benchmark. All of them had smooth running TBM's on their rigs. Not meaning to appear "confronting" but comparing 1 add on to another is kind of futile. We don't really sit there and say "We have to make this run as fast as X add on". We make it according to what we can run, and what our testers and streamers can run. In saying all that, as was mentioned above, I'm working on performance increases by rescaling the textures and combining meshes. Also reducing the number of polygons in the mesh. Performance increase is definitely getting done. It just might take a couple of days.

  4. It's mostly VR compatible. Yokes and rudder pedals are not VR at this time. Everything else, afaik, is good to go with VR. The weather effects will be for toto to look into. We'll address everything. But we have to prioritize. I can understand the frustration, but I simply don't appreciate being told we don't care by Cyrex, 9 hours after your original post. I'm in talks with someone who is willing to share his own personal VR mod. If all goes well, we'll publish it.

  5. Dear pilots, We are very happy to announce that our DC-9 project, after a lot of hiccups and delays, is finally back on track, and we are working at full speed! The members of our team have experience in real aviation and engineering world, like Aerospace Engineering and flight dynamics testing, pilots, and software programmers. Also we are happy to inform you that part of our team, is a very experienced ex-Swissair DC-9 pilot to ensure the accuracy of the aircraft! Major features: 1. The model will based on DC-9-32, in Swissair’s configuration. This will be the base configuration during development. 2. Accurate flight dynamics, using NASA's simulation tools! 3. System’s simulation to the level that you can/need to operate the aircraft with use of the real aircraft’s manuals. 4. Highly detailed and accurate 3D model. 5. FullHD realistic textures with advanced PBR materials. 5. Fully custom dynamic lighting. 6. Many liveries. To our best, we will match cockpit colors with the liveries. 7. High fidelity sounds, implemented with X-Plane’s new future, "FMOD". 8. VR support from v1.0.0. with full operational manipulators We have opened a dedicated Facebook group, where we will post updates regularly. and discuss with you the development of this project. 6. Hi, Just wonder if anyone else having directional control with CH rudder pedals during the take off? It seems like TDM 900 has a bit oversensitive rudder input during take off roll and veering left and right - very hard tp stabilize. I have flown similar airplane size real life and can't remember a such a bit erratic behavior. Perhaps it's my hardware that has to be tweaked? Thanks! P.S. Awesome airplane, superb system modeling!

  10. Installed TBM900, launched X-Plane 11, selected TBM900 at KBHM with real weather on and select start flight; X-Plane terminates to desktop during TBM900 loading. Reinstalled TBM900 same result so I used a fresh install of X-Plane on a different drive and it also terminates to the desktop during TBM900 load. Log.txt

  13. This is one of the smoothest releases of a complex addon that I have seen. There are still much bigger issues in the other products you have mentioned long after their release. I get that you just spent a lot of money on something that has some issues (that's bound to happen to you at some point if you buy stuff day one), but maybe trying to explain your issues better and trying to get support from the devs might be a better idea than just yelling in the forums and trying to get refund through paypal.

  14. I just want to make my respect and appreciation known to all the developers, I can see the hard work here. I wish you the best for the future. Thanks gods!

  16. I'm going to add to this thread as someone who has X-Plane freeze after a moment or so after the systems are powered up. At this point I still have not been able to do anything with the TBM since purchase Friday night. I'm waiting patiently while you guys sort out the issues, but it does appear something is wrong with the Mac version. I'm attaching my log for your review. Nevermind the texture issue with Washington... have never seen that before this morning and wondering if something has gotten corrupted during the many attempts at trying to get the TBM working and it freezing forcing a "Force Quit". If you require some testing please let me know. Log.txt Johnny

  17. Ben, thank you so much. I do have BitDefender and after a bit of messing around everything is now working perfectly!

  18. The installer will automatically run an Uninstaller of the old version. It will preserve any third party liveries in the process.

  19. I'd like to include my Log file as well. Just purchased this last night and applied the latest update this morning. The freeze happens after a few minutes into the power on sequence and is repeatable. Thanks for releasing this model and good luck! Log.txt

  20. We are hard at work on a poly-reduced version of the model, so users with lower-specced GPUs can run the model without issues. We're also analyzing why seemingly very fast GPUs (GTX970 and up) are having trouble. We suspect either a driver tuning issue, or some sort of software incompatibility, as other users with similar setups report no framerate issues.

  23. You don' t need to uninstall it. And the Output/TBM900 directory is what contains the aircraft's persistent state. Leave that if you don't want to lose the maintenance history of the aircraft.
    1 point
  24. If you think that a state refresh might fix it, you could try deleting the X-Plane/Output/TBM900/state folder. That is where the persistent state is stored.

  25. Guys, we're flooded with support questions, and it's hard to address everything. Saying we don't care, after already putting out 2 updates, is quite unfair and uncalled for. We need to address FPS issues, CTD's, bugs, etc... before we address weather effects (you didn't specify what's wrong with them) and VR (Already stated that it won't be in this version, but we said it was definitely coming in a later update) So, as Ben said, your patience is appreciated. We're doing the best we can, but expecting us to respond to everyone, within hours, is unreasonable.

  26. Jacoba, with those specs, you will definitely have to dial it down on the TBM graphics. Performance is very hard to determine due to different factors. Someone with an OC'ed i9 9900K, 2080ti and 32GB RAM with a ton of ortho, countless plug ins, could easily get equal or worse performance than someone with an i7 7700K, 980ti and 32GB RAM with little to no plug ins and ortho. It's a combination of things. We had several testers, with a wide array of installations, have very few problems, with the exception of a few bugs during development, and all had a very smooth run when it came to performance. So MAYBE we underestimated just how much ortho and 3rd party plug ins people have. Just today, I saw someone with an incredible amount of plug ins. Couldn't believe how many plug ins some people have. Felt like I was way behind the times. In saying all that, I'm working on reducing texture size and possibly making a separate texture set for slower computers. I'll get that done asap and run a few tests, then take a meeting with toto.

  27. Yes, it is definitely way too twitchy on takeoff and landing roll. Granted, the X-Plane prop wash weirdness doesn't help; but compared to similar aircraft, the TBM is extremely touchy with power applied. Taxis and flies great though... I absolutely love the prop beta range implementation.

  28. Hi, firstly I want to say that this was my first foray into civilian simming after using DCS for like 5 years, and I'm incredibly impressed! I haven't had any issues yet and this aircraft has been an absolute joy to fly. I look forward to doing a lot of vatsim flying with this bad boy! I also know the things I'm about to ask are not anywhere near the top of the priority stack, but I'm still curious: While reading the quick-start guide linked G1000 manual, I noticed that there are quite a few small discrepancies between what's described in the manual vs what's available in the plane. For instance it seems we're missing the "AUX" page group on the MFD in it's entirety, can't change our HSI between 360/ARC display, can't adjust our Vspeeds in the TMR/REF softkey menu on the PFD, cant mesure distance/bearing on the map, etc. Now none of these discrepancies are critical and I'm sure some stem from the fact that the manual is written for a -850, however I was wondering if this is your final iteration of the G1000 simulation, or if you plan on adding more functionality to it over the coming months\years?

  29. According to your log.txt, there is a problem with your license for TerraMaxx: License challenge failed; TerraMaxx disabled. So, that's probably why it's not behaving as expected. You'll have to open a ticket with X-Aviation to see why your license doesn't seem to be valid.

  31. Unfortunately the crash backtrace generator is being confused somewhat. Could you please run X-Plane in a debugger and send us some debugging output commands? To get into the debugger use the following commands in a terminal: $ cd X-Plane/X-Plane_11 $ gdb ./X-Plane-x86_64 (gdb) r [start up the avionics and make the sim crash] (gdb) bt Please copy the output of the "bt" command and paste it into a forum post here. With this information I'll be able to pinpoint the code that is causing this. I appreciate the help!

  32. I'm currently using the CH Products Throttle Quadrant and wanted to find out if there is a way to make it so idle is not in the middle? I was hoping to be able to make the detent idle and make below the detent reverse but I can't figure out how (not even sure it's possible?). If not is there anyway to atleast make idle where the throttle lever would be all the way back?

  36. Another very big thank you! I obtained my PPL in 1989 and I always read flying magazine, and my lust for this plane begain in December 1989 when I first saw it on the cover of Flying Magazine. To finally have a proper TBM in X-Plane is just amazing!

  39. With the exterior of the TBM 900 all but completed, Cullen Chandler (Cessnarox on Twitch) provided feedback and specifications for a user friendly paint kit. He started painting the TBM a couple of days ago. Eventually, the paint kit and these repaints will be made available to the community. Here's a gallery of the first repaint he made. And these are his latest images.
