Hi everyone, we would like to give all of our loyal customers a short update on the work going on behind the scenes. As you are all aware, we are working on patch 1.1. It will include a number of additions and fixes to our 737, some of which we hinted at in our sneak peak thread: http://forums.x-pilot.com/forums/topic/11745-spot-whats-new-v11-spoiler-alert/ We are not quite ready yet to release the full list of features and fixes, especially since we want to make sure that we can actually include the items in question and also run a more thorough test on this patch than we had the time for on the last "hotfix" type patches. For the same reason we won´t commit to an ETA at this point. As we draw closer to release, I will update this post with more info on 1.1. We know it has been a very long time without updates and we thank you for your continuing support in spite of this! Happy landings, Jan10 points

So I purchased (for the upgrade cost of $20) SkyMaxx Pro v4 this morning. With the updated Real Weather Connector for free (whew) and I have to say..I'm very impressed. Thus far, the cloud depictions have never looked better..they seem to have really improved the (already good) variety and just the overall moodiness of the look of the clouds. I took these screens a few minutes ago departing La Paz using real weather conditions... Also noteworthy was that I am getting way better FPS with this version over v3 (I have no idea why). I probably would have been looking at about 18 FPS with the conditions below with v3 and right now I'm getting 26. I'm not sure if it reset something in my SkyMaxx Pro settings..but visually it looks better, and FPS it performs better. So far, I'm super-happy.. Congrats on the quality release guys! Why don´t you try one on a moonless night flying over an overcast cloud cover with all airplane lights off as your next shot?4 points

I've only had time to do one flight from KMOB to KORF. What a wonderful improvement. What a bargain that discounted upgrade fee was for the fantastic results. Thanks for the beautiful skies.4 points

I just want to congratulate Sundog, Maxx, and the entire team at X-Aviation. The product is amazing. I will admit I was a bit skeptical since I never really got the effect I wanted in SMP V3. Overcast was missing a lot of times, clouds not as dense as I would have liked, etc. So, I purchased the upgrade (good price BTW), and got RWC 1.1. After installing in XP11 and XP10, thought I would give it a spin. Fired up Skyvector to look for some bad weather and it appeared to be a stormy day in the Southeast. Ironically, I was stationed at NAS Glynco years ago, and I took my private lessons there in Brunswick. After the install, I thought I would try it out in XP11. Clouds looked excellent and performance was decent. I was able to squeeze right at 40 FPS. Strangely enough, I was over 50 with SMP 3.2.2 in XP11. Out of curiosity, I fired up XP10 and went to KBQK again. I tweaked SMP, checked RWC, fired up FSGRW jumped in the Mooney. I obviously had not used FSGRW in XP11 as the compatible version is not out yet. Regardless, from the cockpit on this overcast day, the entire area was, well, overcast. Checking my frame rate, I was well over 50. I bet my eyes looked like Aaron Rodgers spotting a wide open Nelson down the field. Not wanting to get too excited, I fired up the Mooney and took off to the north. I was in IMC from 500 AGL and thought, let's see how this cloud layer looks on top. Finally breaking out at just above 9K, I was met with blues sky's and a thick layer of clouds below me. Looking off into the distance I could see a few towering clouds from the passing storms and my frame rate never dipped below 48. Trying to hide my smile, I quickly pulled the charts for the ILS to 07, navigated south towards St. Simons Island VOR, caught the 310 radial outbound to intercept the glideslope, and only saw glimpses of the ground through the thick layer of storm clouds and rain. Intercepting the ILS at 1700 feet, I finally broke out of the clouds above minimums and landed safely. Pulling off the active, suddenly, I am aware my pulse is quickened, a feeling I remember so well during my instrument training years ago. Sitting in the cockpit and shutting down the Mooney, I just had to write to you folks. SMP is fantastic on XP10 and I know it will be in XP11 when it gets finalized. Label me blown away. Great job and congrats to the entire team. p.s. Brunswick is stormy right now and provides a good test of the overcast and clouds. Bill2 points

Hiya's, Hope you like Tony ps : With my now ever increasing ortho size, xp11 is sadly on with my ortho etc on a fairly new 7200 spinner (so appologies for the stuttering) last time i heard a spinner this noisy it died on me after a short time lol2 points

It seems that the problem was linked to the activation of the "File" - "Toggle AVI Movie" option. When I deactivated the same, I have not had another manifestation of the cabin displacement. Something related to the appreciation of "Litjan". Notice if there is another news.2 points

Sorry guys, this fix was meant to go out yesterday evening, but we have also had some odd installer issues on the Mac OS Sierra side that I am sorting through first. I think I have a handle on it now, but still waiting for feedback from a few more users who experienced the problem. As soon as they confirm my new code solves this issue we will be releasing the patch for what's seen in the screenshots above.1 point

I think there is an alternate set of snow tarmac textures out there that may look better, I don't have them but it might be worth a Google....1 point

It's a problem with how the current beta version of X-Plane 11 handles the blend pass. We've opened an issue with Laminar to change how this works if possible, so hopefully a future beta release of X-Plane 11 will resolve this.1 point

This is a known issue and we already have a fix for it. We've delivered SkyMaxx Pro 4.0.1 to X-Aviation for distribution and it should be available soon.1 point

Hiya Roel, I started to use ortho4xp So, after getting to grips via a few vids and googling, that's all fron bing maps via ortho4xp It's somewhere either Liverpool/North Wales area but i'm pretty sure it's around EGPK Scotland I like many others have found out using ortho gains you fps too !! I think if you check in the video section, somewhere there i posted a vid link (of course lol) and i snapped these while recording I'll double check vid and if needbe add another link Have Fun Tony Edit : Here it is1 point

Poodster is right, the VNAV part of our FMS is not very good at handling multiple restrictions. And it´s certainly not designed to work like the Airbus´ one (thank god!) But to really be able to see what the problem was, we would need a lot more information. What STAR/Transition where you trying to fly? Can you post some screenshots, detailing the problem? For now treat the predictions of the FMS with a bit of doubt and be prepared to revert to a more basic autopilot mode to meet your descent restrictions. The aviation industry see the ill-fated dependency of unskilled pilots on "fully managed" automation with growing concern. Pilots need to learn their airplanes from easy to complex...not start with LNAV/VNAV and hope that the autopilot gets them to their destination in one piece . Don´t take the fun of flying away from yourself. Its not a movie to enjoy with your feet up and a box of popcorn . Cheers, Jan1 point

Hiya's, To add to donoscar, My fps seems either the same or actually better as a whole I realised once i got xp10 last year it's a beast for cpu processing power, though not quite so much on the gpu side of things except the vram amount, the vram is still crucial in xp, hence i did a pretty hefty hw upgrade, and will do again once nvidia/intel release what i want From some observations i came to two conclusions from decmber last to the present day A lot of users haven't got the rig setup to run anywhere near what they're expecting to achieve, then they get annoyed, like all of us i guess i'd love to totally max xp out and be done with it, sometime next year i hope ! who knows, but really when i see people trying to run a very low to mid end rig with so much eye-candy i kinda cringe, i know money is tight for most of us, at this moment life's good for me and after so many years slugging along on an average machine that did great for previous sims/games i loved, i knew the time had come to save and pay for what i feel is something i'll stick with for a long time Secondly, and obviously more recently, what some were getting settings-wise in v3 they expected in v4, but neglected to realise the cloud slider now doubles the rendering distance So in reality it's pumping a lot more data than before on what some percieve as the same settings So ert11` for me i do get better fps the majority of the time, and really thinking about it as i type now, i get nowhere near the lows i used to and i'm running double the cloud draw radius Also here's something that may interest you, i finally got to grips with making ortho, with that, you get a fps boost, i'm no coder so what i think is happening is this ............ Instead of xp having to process it's ortho, it's taking ready made ortho so this cuts down xp's processing needs for ortho, hence a fps boost, like everything though there's an equal and opposite, with ortho as you raise the zoom for crispness view-wise, the hdd space you need is astoundingly large lol Have Fun Peace Tony1 point

Then you wouldn't see anything! On this picture you can clearly see the outline of the aircraft, and the shape of Amsterdam, and Schiphol airport. Maybe try turning up your brightness a bit1 point

Interesting; just visited an airport (LEPA) with thunder and lighting in the area, and I can hear heavy rain, but don't see any rain. EDIT: Check that, just needed to turn rain drop size way up.1 point

Hi guys, for some reason, the performance issues are gone now. I now have at least the same FPS as with SMP3 but with 100.000 sq.km. So this is no longer an issue. If somebody wants to ask how to fix this - to be honest, I don't know really. Restarted my PC, and then it work. Unfortunately I am a little bit disappointed on this update. For me it feels more like an minor update on textures for SMP v3 not worth 20$. Even if I set it to 100.000 sq.km, I don't see clouds to the horizon - not even close. Maybe it has to do with x-plane visibility, but this is not realistic. I fly twice a week for work, and never saw that clouds are influenced by haze or so. Overcast is much better then before - definitely, but for it still looks unrealistic. Maybe to weather in US has such visual, but in Europe, OC is more a fluffy flat carpet. But still only this fluffy balls, which with the new textures even more not fits into the visual of the rest of the game IMHO. No stratus clouds at low level. Hopefully this product will improve over time. Cheers, Michael1 point

Hello,I just want to say thank you to x-aviation and sundog software for this great product. I'm actually getting better performance than in skymax 3. In skymax 4, I was able to increase cloud draw. Here are some pics to show my settings. Computer specs are: I7 4770@ overclocked to 4.4, GTX780 running 3 monitors w/nvidia surround 32G ram@1866 CL9 X-Plane 10. I haven't tried X-Plane 11 yet. There is obviously something wrong on your end either with the install or the pilot. The aircraft is flown thousands of hours every day with few problems. When/if you have something more constructive to say and more specific info about your exact problems, start a new topic in the support area and we will be happy to try to help you. This is the second time you have started a topic like this, ranting without any useful information what so ever! Read the documentation on what what info we need to help you. Do one of the tutorial flights and tell us EXACTLY where your problem starts. This is your last chance... M1 point
