Ok, I guess we can see the picture already. MYTH CONFIRMED, simmers are VNAV addicts.. Here is what the real pilots say Climb 73% Descent 20% Approach 5% The reasons real pilots do not use VNAV as much on descent/approach are several, here are some below... . So, VNAV being buggy is obviously not just a sim issue. The interesting part though is that real pilots don't use it if they don't trust/like it, but simmers apparently insist on using it anyway... weird, maybe our VNAV is less buggy than the real one (unlikely) Another major issue is that ATC tends to mess up your (vertical) flightplan on arrival making it hard to keep up with the FMC.3 points

The wait will not be too long. We are working at a fast pace, but not a rushed one. I can tell you there is a lot of movement though.3 points

Great screenies guys this looks very cool. the one thing really missing from SMP so far is real looking Thunderstorms with properley rendered towering CB's which look menacing. Always been very happy with your rendering of normal clouds etc but we really really need proper Thuderstorms. I took these at work note the hard edges on towering Cu and CB's . hope you guys have something in the works to get the storms looking awesome as everything else looks great.3 points

Hi Captains!, We thought you'd like to see more shots of what SkyMaxx Pro v4 is bringing to the table. Our beta test group has been giving us great feedback and taking many pics for us to share. These are just a few of our favorites today! Thanks to @Yidahoo and @Attitude for taking these during their beta test experience!2 points

No. We offer the discount to the customers who stick with us through each version. The 50% off will apply to version 3 owners only!2 points

Having been in this market for over ten years in going to tell you that what looks good to you looks horrible to others. On the contrary, what looks horrible to you will look amazing to others. We face this battle with customers all the time. In the end, SkyMaxx Pro v4 is the result of listening to our vocal customer base. I'm sorry if it doesn't appeal to you, but we do hope it appeals to majority...it's certainly seeming so. Thanks for chiming in though, Rob!2 points

Thanks for the kind words! Pricing remains the same at $39.95, and all v3 customers receive a 50% discount.2 points

Captains, It is with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement that I get the opportunity to announce SkyMaxx Pro v4.0 to you today! A few people have speculated out there on whether we were announcing the next version soon, or what may be in it, and today we can tell you a whole lot more! Without question, SkyMaxx Pro v4 is going to be our most exciting of the SkyMaxx Pro series to date. The features it brings to the X-Plane experience are pretty awesome, so without further ado, the feature list for SkyMaxx Pro v4 is as follows (a preview video will follow soon): - Double your maximum cloud draw area! Big performance improvements allow clouds to be drawn across an area up to 320 km across surrounding your plane. Go ahead and crank up SMP's cloud draw area setting and achieve fast, realistic scenes at FL300 and above. - Did we mention big performance improvements? SMP4 is faster than ever. - New 3D precipitation system that represents rain, sleet, wet snow, and dry snow - as well as mixed precipitation that responds automatically to the ambient temperature. Precipitation is even lit by your landing lights! And an whole new precipitation control panel lets you tweak its appearance to your own liking. - Precipitation is tied to individual clouds in SMP4. Rain will start and stop realistically as you fly underneath or through the clouds. - All-new "HD Cloud Puffs" overcast representation! Fly through large, thick overcast layers built from real HD cloud photos, without killing your framerate. Overcast clouds have never looked so good from above and below. - Higher-resolution scattered and broken cumulus clouds, with twice the resolution as SMP3. - Cirrus and cirrocumulus clouds now move realistically relative to your plane's motion. - Works better than ever with Real Weather Connector: more accurate representations of ground fog, thunderstorm placement, and stratus/overcast cloud placement when used with RWC. - Adjusts lighting on distant cloud puffs at night ...and a few more unannounced features yet to come! Screenshots (Click to see large view): Showing the new, doubled maximum cloud draw distance (both images above 30,000 ft) with the new overcast! The all-new SkyMaxx Pro Precipitation Settings Window and showing off some SkyMaxx Pro 3D snow getting lit up by aircraft lights! As explained above, SkyMaxx Pro now has 3D rain, sleet, wet & dry snow! Showing the new HD Clouds Some 3D rain effects shown. Precipitation stops if you are not under a cloud! Showing some gorgeous clouds generated by SkyMaxx Pro 4 as we coast into the sunset. We're excited to show you more! Information on upgrade eligibility: SkyMaxx Pro v4 will be a paid upgrade for all current SkyMaxx Pro v3 owners. Those of you who qualify will receive a 50% off ($19.95 instead of $39.95) upgrade discount which will be valid for 60 days from the time SkyMaxx Pro v4 goes on sale. After this, the product will go to full price for all customers. Information on release: SkyMaxx Pro v4 will be released in as short order as possible. We currently have a beta team being assembled and about to go through Release Candidate builds. Once that is done it's on to packaging and release. We will keep everyone updated as we get closer to the release. It would be safe to say you can see SkyMaxx Pro v4 hit the store this USA holiday season! X-Plane 10 & 11: We will support both X-Plane 10 and 11. There will not be a separate cost for these products. If you purchase SkyMaxx Pro v4 you are assured compatibility with both (keep in mind if adjustments need to be made for X-Plane 11 it may not work on day one, but it will be as quickly as possible after as we will have early access copies to work with. Therefore, it is possible we have SkyMaxx Pro working on the first day of release for X-Plane 11 as well should changes really be necessary). Thanks to everyone for their continued support in this amazing product! See you in the skies!1 point

Looking good! I thought about getting xEnviro, but I guess I'll stick with SMP. Been satisfied with v2 and v3, and v4 looks like another step forward.1 point

We kept the default effects in place, personally I don't see the "all-in-one" approach as a good development model for innovation and support reasons. For instance including undocumented datarefs that adjust skycolors or atmospheric properties creates a nightmare when LR decides to change or remove them due to core changes in the simulation, remember RTH became broken in 10.51? Tony created and individually supports Ventura Sky, which brings a whole slew of great effects to SMP and XP, and as XP11 matures he can adjust his product to suit these changes total cost to the end user $0.....SMP has less of a chance of breaking during XP version runs because we play by the rules which equates to better support overall...... Sorry going of on a tangent here.....LOL1 point

The only info I have is that they have yet to distribute to even Aerosoft and even simmarket as well. It could well be they want to start with a small group to get a feel of bug reports. No idea, Jose. I'm not in control of this one!1 point
-
I should have said distance, not area. It's an area with a diameter of 320km.1 point

Looking very good indeed! I liked the preview videos and pics of xEnviro as well, to be honest. But I just found out, that its clouds don't draw shadows on the ground (seems to be a bug), and that is a show stopper for me. These shadows generate so much depth. And since you give your loyal customers a very nice 50% discount, I'll stay exactly that, a loyal customer! ;-)1 point

It has already been released to the org store. Maybe devs wants my future purchases to be done at the org store?1 point

I don't want to throw this thread sideways, so this will be my last comment on this one That is exactly what I mean. You know John enough, we don't. How on earth should we've known that there was humor in his answer? Putting a smiley after that statement would've helped a lot. That's what i mean with "think before you post". We argued about this one before. I think you falsely assume that people asking for linux support, and especially the way they are asking for support, do represent the majority of linux users. After all none (or a majority? not sure on this one) of your addons support linux at the moment, so there are not much "casual" linux users hanging around here. You will never see a "normal" linux user thanking you for not supporting linux. The ones that do post here are passionate linux users that desperately want your addons to support linux. Try create an awesome X-Plane addon for linux only and watch how the windows user are going to react or demand support. Give them the cold shoulder, post a polite and respectful template and everyone will be happy in the end. It's not so much what you do, it's the way you do it. I can't imagine how awful it is to deal with such annoying customers from your perspective. I can only tell you what impression i get from some of the statements. Best regards and my final words on that in this thread (I promise), BaBene1 point

737 was basically confirmed by RSR during a livestream. Not sure about the 777 during the XP11 run.1 point

What a strange response? I have plenty of hours in a real world aircraft ... a PPL in rented aircraft wouldn't get me to those altitudes from 3 of those pictures ... perhaps you mean CPL? I do have some 4K video from RWL from commercial aircraft if you're interested? Cheers, Rob.1 point

It will require an update. The update will be free to all current customers.1 point

Looking awesome Have seen no videos, obviously, but is there such a thing as 3d raindrops on the windshield.. like in real life. That would be a hugh leap in eye candy. Bob M.1 point

We are fully compatible with X-Plane 11 already. Laminar provided us some early access in the SMP 4 development phase to get a head start on that, so on day one of release we will be both X-Plane 10 and 11 compatible. There is code in SkyMaxx Pro v4 which will auto-detect which version of X-Plane you are using and apply the appropriate code within the plugin to that platform.1 point

Not a promise, but I think we MAY get rid of the gizmo error on startup with one of the next XP11 betas...it is due to some dataref change that Laminar did. I also have some inconsistencies with the pop-out menus, I often can´t access the XP11 toolbar (on top edge), but haven´t found out what is causing it. There are some other minor items, but I think we will be able to conquer those soon after starting the port. Jan1 point

If you fly 4 days a week and draw this horrible stuff, then you need to see a specialist. Please, I don't give a flying fuck if you ban me, you know it very well. With your horrible work and pay for updates, you will just lose your last 12 kittens and puppies that "admire" your project.-1 points
