  1. I can confirm that reverting back to NOAA v2.3 (and deleting the .rwx files) bring back clouds to normal. Thanks@sundog

  2. Apparently the new NOAA 2.4 release updates the METAR.rwx file every minute, and that seems to be the source of this problem. Real Weather Connector is seeing that METAR.rwx is being refreshed more often than its own MAXX_METAR.rwx file, and so it is loading weather from METAR.rwx instead. Which apparently contains very little information (perhaps we're reading it while NOAA is still constructing it?). Even when RWC is in "always" mode, it will use whichever file is updated more recently (METAR.rwx or MAXX_METAR.rwx) for its weather source. Both of your logs say the same thing - METAR.rwx is getting replaced while NOAA is running and so RWC is using it as the newer source of data. What I can do on my end is to always use our own MAXX_METAR.rwx data even if METAR.rwx is newer when "always" mode is set in RWC, as part of the upcoming Skymaxx Pro 4 release. But I'd recommend going back to NOAA 2.3 for now. If the author of the NOAA plugin reads this, it would be a good idea to make the refresh frequency of METAR.rwx configurable if it isn't already, and to make sure it is updated in an atomic manner (for example, writing it out to a temporary file and then renaming it when it's ready.)

  5. Incompatibility should be Apples middle name. Since the passing of Steve Jobs, each OS update they have introduced has rendered a plethora of hardware, and software useless. Personally, I’ve decided to pass on MAC OS upgrades after v10.9.5, and as for running X-Plane I’ve turned to a PC with plenty of CPU, and especially GPU power to handle developer demands.

  6. I've been running the above combination for a few weeks now and I experienced no problems. RWC was set to "ALWAYS" as per manual. The last few days I noticed I'm not getting clouds in areas where bad weather is reported. The first thing I did was to check the METAR file if the upload failed, but the file was ok filled with proper information. Next thing I did was to disable the RWC by setting it to "NEVER" I get clouds immediately. I reenabled RWC by setting it to "ALWAYS" and disabled the NOAA plugin. To get the clouds showing I had to disable and reenable RWC using the above procedure because I have "Never change visible weather option" enabled. So any idea on what could be happening here? I first noticed this when I update NOAA to v2.4, but considering that reverting it back to 2.3 didn't fix anything makes me completely and utterly lost. I uploaded the latest METAR. The latest test was done today on the LJMB airport with the following report: 2016/10/24 14:00 LJMB 241400Z 20012KT 180V240 9999 SCT033 BKN150 18/12 Q1019 MAXX_METAR.rwx

  7. I don't use NOAA myself so I'm not real sure how it works. I can tell you that RWC in "always" mode will periodically check to see if either METAR.rwx or MAXX_METAR.rwx has been updated, and use the newer of the two if so. As crisk73 said, going back to NOAA 2.3 and deleting both of those files should get you back in business.

  8. I think when you reverted back to 2.3, you still had a newer file modification date on METAR.rwx than was on MAXX_METAR.rwx, and so we kept using the most recent METAR.rwx that 2.4 had placed there.

  9. Here is the log Sundog that was used combined with the above METAR file. Maybe you can make some sense of it all Log.txt

  10. Could you also post your log.txt after experiencing this (together with the maxx_metar.rwx you had at the time?) There's nothing unusual about that METAR report so I think something more complex is going on.

  11. When ATC tells you to set Squawk code to i.e. 6366. You just enter that Squawk. Sometimes they tell you to set a Squawk code and ident. Then you enter assigned Squawk Code followed by pressing the ident button. If ATC require you to set Squawk Mode Charlie on ground you set the transponder to "ON". On "AUTO" (default) the transponder automaticly sets it to Squawk Mode Charlie on takeoff/when airborn and back to Standby when you have landed. https://www.vatsim.net/pilot-resource-centre/general-lessons/transponder-and-squawk-codes

  14. I actually have the intensity of the 3d rain effect turned up so it's more visible in a screenshot, there is a UI for precipitation and it's adjustable to your liking....

  15. Look great, turning onto finals at for RW 05 at Inverness last night, I could have done with these to hand fly the localizer interception. I noticed they are blanked off on the current ac. Are these tinted in any way? Going by the "what is not in 1.0" thread, the eyebrow windows were a very low priority, I guess you made some good progress in other areas

  17. I guess a lot is lost in text for some folks, but that goes way beyond disliking a product.... Mostly though I worry about his stability, it's scary if you think about it....poor fellow Just my humble opinion

  18. Thanks for the report, we have done some work on a similiar problem (where you have a sharp kink in the route), but this looks like something else... I will see if I can reproduce it on our 1.1 testbuild... Jan

  21. I was never really able to use SMP 3 with decent performances-appearance balance, especially with mid to heavy cloud coverage. So SMP3 for me was mostly a waste of money (cause i had to remove it completely to be able to enjoy the sim) even if I bought with offer. You should give some clear performance comparison between the products, considering no-top-of-the-line PC and MAC, cause appearance could be nice, but performances are what makes the difference. The price is fair if the specification are reflected in real day use, even if in practical you are charging users with 20$ per year, for a product never perfectly working in many situations. There will ever be a way to test the product before buying it? Or may be a way to give money back if not completely satisfied? At least the first option should be considered. May be an open beta could be a good way to proceed.

  23. Hi all Im a subscriber to Computerphile and I it was very interesting when these two videos showed up. Its about how computers helped revolutionise the way aircraft traffic is managed. Some of the code from 1974 is still used today

  24. It was already fixed and addressed with the latest version of RWC and the 'Never' option getting added.

  26. I'm not sure I follow your logic. Upset supporters how? SkyMaxx Pro is $39.95. People in the sale got 50% off. Those same people will now get 50% off of SkyMaxx Pro 4. That means the price is effectively the same as buying SkyMaxx Pro 4 on release day if you never took advantage of the sale or never had SkyMaxx Pro to begin with. I can't say I find anything upsetting about this at all.

  27. Matt. If I had a dollar for every complaining post you make about these products I'd buy you a copy of SMP 4 for you to try, You're clearly unsatisfied even at the budget breaking cost of $20 / year or 5.47 cents / day. I respectfully suggest you just find another product. br.

  28. When you get out of school and don't have anyone to back you and a late project or a missed assignment means you get sacked and end up stacking cans at the supermarket to feed your family then you will truly understand "more reasonable". Thanks for understanding.

  30. Captains, It is with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement that I get the opportunity to announce SkyMaxx Pro v4.0 to you today! A few people have speculated out there on whether we were announcing the next version soon, or what may be in it, and today we can tell you a whole lot more! Without question, SkyMaxx Pro v4 is going to be our most exciting of the SkyMaxx Pro series to date. The features it brings to the X-Plane experience are pretty awesome, so without further ado, the feature list for SkyMaxx Pro v4 is as follows (a preview video will follow soon): - Double your maximum cloud draw area! Big performance improvements allow clouds to be drawn across an area up to 320 km across surrounding your plane. Go ahead and crank up SMP's cloud draw area setting and achieve fast, realistic scenes at FL300 and above. - Did we mention big performance improvements? SMP4 is faster than ever. - New 3D precipitation system that represents rain, sleet, wet snow, and dry snow - as well as mixed precipitation that responds automatically to the ambient temperature. Precipitation is even lit by your landing lights! And an whole new precipitation control panel lets you tweak its appearance to your own liking. - Precipitation is tied to individual clouds in SMP4. Rain will start and stop realistically as you fly underneath or through the clouds. - All-new "HD Cloud Puffs" overcast representation! Fly through large, thick overcast layers built from real HD cloud photos, without killing your framerate. Overcast clouds have never looked so good from above and below. - Higher-resolution scattered and broken cumulus clouds, with twice the resolution as SMP3. - Cirrus and cirrocumulus clouds now move realistically relative to your plane's motion. - Works better than ever with Real Weather Connector: more accurate representations of ground fog, thunderstorm placement, and stratus/overcast cloud placement when used with RWC. - Adjusts lighting on distant cloud puffs at night ...and a few more unannounced features yet to come! Screenshots (Click to see large view): Showing the new, doubled maximum cloud draw distance (both images above 30,000 ft) with the new overcast! The all-new SkyMaxx Pro Precipitation Settings Window and showing off some SkyMaxx Pro 3D snow getting lit up by aircraft lights! As explained above, SkyMaxx Pro now has 3D rain, sleet, wet & dry snow! Showing the new HD Clouds Some 3D rain effects shown. Precipitation stops if you are not under a cloud! Showing some gorgeous clouds generated by SkyMaxx Pro 4 as we coast into the sunset. We're excited to show you more! Information on upgrade eligibility: SkyMaxx Pro v4 will be a paid upgrade for all current SkyMaxx Pro v3 owners. Those of you who qualify will receive a 50% off ($19.95 instead of $39.95) upgrade discount which will be valid for 60 days from the time SkyMaxx Pro v4 goes on sale. After this, the product will go to full price for all customers. Information on release: SkyMaxx Pro v4 will be released in as short order as possible. We currently have a beta team being assembled and about to go through Release Candidate builds. Once that is done it's on to packaging and release. We will keep everyone updated as we get closer to the release. It would be safe to say you can see SkyMaxx Pro v4 hit the store this USA holiday season! X-Plane 10 & 11: We will support both X-Plane 10 and 11. There will not be a separate cost for these products. If you purchase SkyMaxx Pro v4 you are assured compatibility with both (keep in mind if adjustments need to be made for X-Plane 11 it may not work on day one, but it will be as quickly as possible after as we will have early access copies to work with. Therefore, it is possible we have SkyMaxx Pro working on the first day of release for X-Plane 11 as well should changes really be necessary). Thanks to everyone for their continued support in this amazing product! See you in the skies!
