  1. Thanks for your reassurance in the conculsion I also formed. I am glad there is another forum like this so I can enjoy my entheusiasm for X-Plane with discussions and spend my money else where other that .org while sharing common interest. Thanks X-Pilot. I hope to impress you as well.

  2. Sorry to hear about this, Zymurg! I followed that topic and pretty much knew how it would end up, but it's sad that I even knew that and was correct as to the end result. Either way, welcome to our friendly community! We're happy to have you here!

  3. No a friend didnt convert it. you got that from Project Oblivion, a known group converting MSFS aircraft illegally. That a319 is Project Airbus a319. you should not use it.

  5. Sorry to hear Zymurg. It is almost hard to believe isn't it? I mean, for years, people thought we just made up this stuff...some of the things that have come out of the admins mouth at the org just makes me blink in amazment. Anyhow, we're glad to have you here and look forward to your contributions. We are kicking around several things here to try and get add-on building tutorials and training going and bolster the community sharing of great add-ons using some of the newer XP technologies. Tom K

  6. Remlap--It's 'Bored' not 'Board'---a 'Board' is a Carboard/wooden plank/sheet mate--No offence but it just doesn't fit alongside 'Plane maker and designer'

  7. Yes, use the 250/310/M.77 Climb Profile when planned above FL280. It does make for a slow climb, but it enables the aircraft to get to the higher altitudes. I typically climbed at a higher rate to 10,000 FT, then transitions to 310 KTS / .77 M for the rest of the climb. We used the slower climb profile for shorter trips to get to altitude quicker. Another thing to consider is that shorter trips especially on the East Coast ATC has a lot of restrictions which most of the time limit your ability to fly at optimum cruise altitudes. Also, once above 10,000 FT make sure you climb in V/S mode. If you use SPEED mode the aircraft will pitch over to increase speed and sometimes that may result in a descent.

  13. Today I was supposed to fly a Tupolev Ty-154M of S7 on the CYUL-KMCO route but I had to take a Aeroflot Airbus A319 instead because of techinal problems. More pictures HERE

  15. You are mixing two different issues here: 1. The initial position reads a nonsense value, like minus a million degrees. That is caused by a change to how X-Plane initializes values when starting, it changed in 10.10 and was subsequently solved with a CRJ update, in 1.5.x 2. The initial position cannot be read from the database (you enter an airport and it shows up as "INVALID ENTRY") then you have a problem with either faulty navdata, incorrect installation of navdata, or a broken navdata cache. The latter can be fixed by deleting the four files in CRJ-200/plugins/CRJAvionics/cache/. The former can be fixed by carefully reviewing the navdata installation process, comparing to how it looks when the CRJ is clean installed. Philipp

  16. Already happened, sort of. Nicolas didn't actually ban me, he just revoked every single privilege except viewing of the forums. The last time I was banned in 2009, ......for selling my Mu2 with x-aviation instead of them (I think I hurt his feelings), there was a bit of a backlash from some users who couldn't figure out what happened, including me. I had a good history of helping others there for some years, and the banning had no justification other than Nicolas being a baby....so he reinstated me with a warning, "I've got my eye on you". Well I definitely got real vocal after that little stunt as many here know all too well. If Nicolas didn't have a reason to ban me the first time, I definitely gave him one after that. Every time he decided to act like a baby, I'd call him on it and eventually he had enough of me and pushed the big red button. In this way though, nobody knows I'm "soft banned"...they just think I don't post there and nobody will question him on it. Sly devil that guy! Tom K

  17. Me? I have no authority there... I'm just an end-user like yourselves. I was added to the leaders-list for simply answering a bunch-o-questions (and answering them correctly, heh) and general contribution (Scenery, tools, utilites, being generally helpful, etc..). ...never actively sought out or asked for the recognition explicity per se. -Ck

  21. Maybe not flying but funny anyway---enjoy An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman were having a drink in a pub. As good as this bar is," said the Scotsman, "I still prefer the pubs back home. In Glasgow, there's a wee place called McTavish's. The landlord goes out of his way for the locals. When you buy four drinks, he'll buy the fifth drink." "Well, Angus," said the Englishman, "At my local in London, the Red Lion, the barman will buy you your third drink after you buy the first two." "Ahhh, that's nothin'," said the Irishman, "back home in Cork at my favourite pub, the moment you set foot in the place, they'll buy you a drink, then another, all the drinks you like. Then, when you've had enough drinks, they'll take you upstairs and see that you get laid, all on the house!" The Englishman and Scotsman were suspicious of these claims. The Irishman swore every word was true, but they asked, "Did this actually happen to you?" "Not myself, personally, no," admitted the Irishman, "but it did happen to my sister quite a few times "

  23. Are you also following Dan Klaue's tutorials? You're lucky to be building a jet newer than 1970-ish, after the point when they learned how to make curved windscreens!
