Aircraft sliding on the ground in light wind
Litjan replied to tri2322's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the reports - I would need to know the exact conditions (weather, scenery used, position, etc) to reproduce this - can you help me with that? Jan -
Aircraft sliding on the ground in light wind
Litjan replied to tri2322's topic in General Discussion
And disable all plugins before you try this as well... thanks for reporting back! I have tried in winds of 40 gusting 50 and the plane didnt move one bit for me (on a dry runway) Jan -
Hi everyone and thanks for the nice words - we are reading these posts with a lot of joy and some anguish.. . I am really sorry if your initial experience was not a pleaseant one and the whole team is cranking right now (like I have never seem them in the last few months...) to bring out the first update - with many more to follow! Cheers, Jan

Hi Jim, I think you should be able to! But I confirmed it´s not working here, yet - what an oversight... will add to bugbase and fix soon! Thanks, Jan

Thank you, Javier - this means a lot to us, especially coming from an accomplished aircraft maker like you! Muchas Gracias, Jan

I second Cameron´s advice... we hear your complaint with the noise level - I hate to say it, but I feel it is spot on, especially in being really bothersome . And engines are NOT the most prevalent sounds in a jetliner cockpit, I know that most users (sitting in the passenger cabin) have a different experience...Maybe some other 737 pilots can join in on the discussion and share their view? Currently the sound-level sliders aren´t working very well - the "cockpit" slider is also reducing the engines sound - we will fix this. So soon you can turn down cockpit sounds, while retaining loud engines. We are discussing making "realistic AC-noise" an option, so you can turn that lower if you need to keep the noise down in your house... Cheers, Jan

There have been some more reports on stutters. Here are some tips: disable other plugins (and reboot X-plane) temporarily to test if they affect this disable windows defender (or add an exclusion to the X-Plane folder) make sure you don´t fly with a MOD route - it recalculates the route every two seconds (until you EXECute), this is a heavy load on the CPU Let me know how it goes, Jan

We will think about making your choice persistent - but remember: No plane ever crashed because it carried too much fuel (except maybe Lindbergh almost on takeoff...) Jan

Also watch tutorial video 3 for more info on this Jan

TOWS... what am I doing wrong?
Litjan replied to wotaskd's topic in 737-300 Aircraft Systems and Operation
Right - off the top of my head: Trim in green band flaps takeoff setting spoilers all the way down parking brake off Jan -
And I already have an updated XPUIPC file for you from Torsten, the creator of XPUIPC. It will add compatibility - but please make sure that you install at your own risk and neither IXEG nor X-Pilot or X-Aviation can be held responsible for any possible adverse effects of damages you might suffer herefrom. You can also wait for the next hotfix which SHOULD be live within a few hours - it will also fix the AP problems. Jan XPUIPC 2.0.4.7.zip

Thanks for the reports, everyone. You can output the FPS in a graphical representation, using the "Settings" and "Data input & output" menus. Then check the third box from the left near field 0 frame rate. Now let the sim run for a bit, then go back and go to the DATA SEE tab. Here you can see a representation of your FPS over time. There are a lot of calculations set up to run "every two seconds" and you can see that in the representation, like a negative "heartbeat". I will add this "problem" to our bug database, it isn´t really a bug but more of a coding limitation. Just maybe we can try to even the load out a bit more. Jan

Hi PX, excellent finding, thank you very much! I invite everyone else with the same issue to try this and chime in on this thread, we need to get these showstoppers sorted out, rather yesterday than today! Jan

Gear indicators go to red during flight
Litjan replied to deimos256's topic in 737-300 Aircraft Systems and Operation
It is a warning. "Your throttle is at idle and your gear is not down! Are you sure this is what you want?" Happy landings, Jan -
Just be aware that IXEG can not be held responsible for any damages that may spring from these "thoughts"....

Thank you for placing your order. You will be able to download the 99 copies very shortly. Have a great time with your new product(s)!

I have updated the list in post no. 1 of this thread to todays status. While mostly removing things, I had to add that the PROGRESS page didn´t quite make it into 1.0. I also considered adding: a totally bug-free experience with no soft-crashes as something that will NOT be in 1.0. While we worked hard to find as many faults as possible, we are fully prepared to receive a flurry of reports (both real and due to lack of understanding) over the next few days. We will be hear to listen, help, catalogue and fix them - and it is our goal to get an update to fix any critical problems to you VERY swiftly. Happy landings, everyone, Jan

Hi guys, nothing much to add to Morten´s reply. The -500s and -400s simply saved money during certification by omitting FLAPS 1 takeoff certification. Tailstrike concerns might have played a part for the -400s. In general, FLAPS 1 will get you both a more quiet, faster and less fuel consumption climbout - so unless field lenght or close-in obstacles are an issue, FLAPS 1 is the choice for takeoffs. Jan

You have to memorize them (if you didn´t, your instructor would send you home crying on your first day of your type-rating) For those with beginning Alzheimer (like me) there is a quick-reference table on the backside of that laminated "checklist" that you can pull out of it´s holder on the glareshield. My head shake is set to "45 years old" . No, seriously, I am using the built-in camera shake (no third party) and it is simply an "on or off" affair. Jan

This is the effect of a "high" flap setting. It is most pronounced with flaps 40, but also there with flaps 30. It is an effect that is quite palpable in the real aircraft, too. Jan

No - the light effects are "default X-plane" - adjusted for colouring and intensity. We are not going to add a custom randomized flashing pattern for V1.0. Pretty happy about this complaint, though. If this is the stuff that people are picking at, we have indeed come a long way Now it IS possible that by coincidence you might JUST see the flashing pattern in the video on a real plane, too - but in our plane you will see it like this all the time (I think). Hi guys, yeah, sorry about the bad sound levels - guess the noise level in the cockpit is a bit too realistic! I found out that I am hard to hear after finishing the shoot and then had no time to redo it. Jan

There is no special tweaking of the flightmodel outside of the normal envelope by us. So what you will get will depend on X-Plane´s flight model. This is - by the way - the same as in the big Level D simulators. Certified flightmodel only within the envelope, outside its just extrapolation and guesswork. Jan

They most certainly are - he is putting in crazy time and detail - and it shows! Just remember: If you download anything from the Gateway, make sure to delete that again when it becomes part of the regular X-Plane distribution. Otherwise you run the risk of being stuck with a stagnant airport that will never get improved (simply because your downloaded "custom" airport will always suppress the corresponding "global" airport). And even if Beda´s airports can hardly be improved much, he will most likely work them over when 10.50 is released, to include the new options for that update will bring. So you´d miss out on those improvements. Jan
