As long as you can get over 20% N2 you are ok. It is the lower limit to introduce fuel. I bet that the engine would still start OK even at 18% - you just need to monitor the start even more closely for a possible hot-start. But of course I would never do something like that, as it is against procedures . I would rather cancel the flight (if they have no air-start-unit) and send all 130 passengers into some shady hotel in whatever nice area you are that has a 7,300 MSL airport . Cheers, Jan3 points

Hi everyone, we would like to give all of our loyal customers a short update on the work going on behind the scenes. As you are all aware, we are working on patch 1.1. It will include a number of additions and fixes to our 737, some of which we hinted at in our sneak peak thread: http://forums.x-pilot.com/forums/topic/11745-spot-whats-new-v11-spoiler-alert/ We are not quite ready yet to release the full list of features and fixes, especially since we want to make sure that we can actually include the items in question and also run a more thorough test on this patch than we had the time for on the last "hotfix" type patches. For the same reason we won´t commit to an ETA at this point. As we draw closer to release, I will update this post with more info on 1.1. We know it has been a very long time without updates and we thank you for your continuing support in spite of this! Happy landings, Jan2 points

Hi! Just bought SMP4 and RWC, and I love it, but seeing a lot of the xEnvio videos I can't notice some things are missing from SMP, and I'm not talking about weather engine, but strictly visual. I think SMP will need to keep improving and I would like to suggest some ideas that might just work. - City lights illuminating clouds (simple solution would be to generate a dim light in dense autogen regions that lights the clouds only) - extending cloud cover to the horizon: this should be done with keeping the current detailed coverage as it is, but beyond that just draw low res 2D clouds or in overcast the currently implemented stratus layer), this way performance should not suffer. - better transition when new metars are received. Clouds should drift with the wind. the direction will move them towards a new metar station, if that station have a different metar a cloud transformation should be interpolated, and the clouds should slowly morph into the new type as they drift and with time. - Actually I would love to see a system where clouds are never created or destroyed instantly , but they are always morphed in and out over time, some of this is already implemented I think. - I would be super excited to have cumulus clouds generated over thermals, with dark crisp bottom over strong and new thermals, and soft wispy clouds that slowly dissipate with week dying thermals. This feature would transform X-plane into a nearly proper soaring simulator, and a lot would be glad for that. If you could implement a custom thermal generator with dependance of current weather parameters and non uniform thermals like in condor that would be a killer too, but I think I might ask too much here. - strong wind ground effects, this is just some eye candy but if strong gusting winds could generate some sand or snow, or in case of heavy rain, water puffs that drift along the surface then dissipate that would look cool imho, same mechanic could generate ripple on water surfaces (just a bump map drifting on the water surface) - true volumetric clouds actually it can be done, some guys did it for kerbal space program, I think it can be done in XP too I hope I gave you at least 1 good idea. For other users, what do you think? What feature you would like to see in the future in SMP/RWC ?1 point

Thanks for the answers. I let my friend to try IXEG 737. He is American Airlines captain and flies NG series, but his type rating covers all 737 including 300. He was very impressed with level of details. He told me tend not to use speed breaks on descent as long as he plan in careful. I have to try that!1 point

Discovered a workaround for the vanishing menu: Just invoke one of the keystroke-bound boxes, such as Map (M). Then close it, et voila! The menu's accessible, again, either through mouse-hover or the Esc key. Best, Marshall1 point

have a look at this post, I posted some schemes and instructions how to set up, feel free to shout if you need more help http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/110792-multi-monitor/&do=findComment&comment=10889181 point

thanks Tony, a bit fps hungry to be honest, but optimization is yet to come... but soooooo nice :-)1 point

the alternative would be to switch to XP11, no need for a second PC and therefore all is in sync. now you can use new projection method to prevent this fish-eye distortion. It has a few bugs still, like click-spots being messed up, and of course low fps in beta state, but it looks very promising: 3x60° multi-monitor view on XP11:1 point

Very true. Live and learn. I tried x-plane a bit many versions ago but never really took to it. Spent more in FS2000 & FSX add-on's than I'm willing to admit to, finally gave up with all the OMM's and had no desire to try it all again with P3D. That said, I've been having a blast these past few weeks in Xplane 10 and now the 11 beta. Virtual flying never felt so real for me. The DC3, 737-200 and 757 are all especially great! Really looking forward to what's to come, especially in terms of some competition in the add-on marketplace. Cheers!1 point

As they say.....live and learn. I actually am enjoying X-Plane stock weather. I never did ask if v3 would work in V11.....however, I think as X-Plane continues to develop that eventually REX and others will join in too. I've been a LONG Time user of REX and may upgrade eventually. My problem.....with the amount of "add-on's" I purchase for FlightSim over the years I could probably own 2 or 3 third world countries. (smile) I was just looking last evening at my 1Tb storage drive where I ONLY keep my install files for FSX. Let's just say I have just a little over 3GB left of the 1tb. (smile) Hobby's......probably need to get something more productive. (smile) Cheers!!1 point

I just want to congratulate Sundog, Maxx, and the entire team at X-Aviation. The product is amazing. I will admit I was a bit skeptical since I never really got the effect I wanted in SMP V3. Overcast was missing a lot of times, clouds not as dense as I would have liked, etc. So, I purchased the upgrade (good price BTW), and got RWC 1.1. After installing in XP11 and XP10, thought I would give it a spin. Fired up Skyvector to look for some bad weather and it appeared to be a stormy day in the Southeast. Ironically, I was stationed at NAS Glynco years ago, and I took my private lessons there in Brunswick. After the install, I thought I would try it out in XP11. Clouds looked excellent and performance was decent. I was able to squeeze right at 40 FPS. Strangely enough, I was over 50 with SMP 3.2.2 in XP11. Out of curiosity, I fired up XP10 and went to KBQK again. I tweaked SMP, checked RWC, fired up FSGRW jumped in the Mooney. I obviously had not used FSGRW in XP11 as the compatible version is not out yet. Regardless, from the cockpit on this overcast day, the entire area was, well, overcast. Checking my frame rate, I was well over 50. I bet my eyes looked like Aaron Rodgers spotting a wide open Nelson down the field. Not wanting to get too excited, I fired up the Mooney and took off to the north. I was in IMC from 500 AGL and thought, let's see how this cloud layer looks on top. Finally breaking out at just above 9K, I was met with blues sky's and a thick layer of clouds below me. Looking off into the distance I could see a few towering clouds from the passing storms and my frame rate never dipped below 48. Trying to hide my smile, I quickly pulled the charts for the ILS to 07, navigated south towards St. Simons Island VOR, caught the 310 radial outbound to intercept the glideslope, and only saw glimpses of the ground through the thick layer of storm clouds and rain. Intercepting the ILS at 1700 feet, I finally broke out of the clouds above minimums and landed safely. Pulling off the active, suddenly, I am aware my pulse is quickened, a feeling I remember so well during my instrument training years ago. Sitting in the cockpit and shutting down the Mooney, I just had to write to you folks. SMP is fantastic on XP10 and I know it will be in XP11 when it gets finalized. Label me blown away. Great job and congrats to the entire team. p.s. Brunswick is stormy right now and provides a good test of the overcast and clouds. Bill1 point

Hi guys, for some reason, the performance issues are gone now. I now have at least the same FPS as with SMP3 but with 100.000 sq.km. So this is no longer an issue. If somebody wants to ask how to fix this - to be honest, I don't know really. Restarted my PC, and then it work. Unfortunately I am a little bit disappointed on this update. For me it feels more like an minor update on textures for SMP v3 not worth 20$. Even if I set it to 100.000 sq.km, I don't see clouds to the horizon - not even close. Maybe it has to do with x-plane visibility, but this is not realistic. I fly twice a week for work, and never saw that clouds are influenced by haze or so. Overcast is much better then before - definitely, but for it still looks unrealistic. Maybe to weather in US has such visual, but in Europe, OC is more a fluffy flat carpet. But still only this fluffy balls, which with the new textures even more not fits into the visual of the rest of the game IMHO. No stratus clouds at low level. Hopefully this product will improve over time. Cheers, Michael1 point

Hey John......I too wish you could have stopped me. I'm brand new to X-Plane.....if you could look, you'd see I just joined just over a week ago...probably the day before I purchased V3....and several other products. (Saab 340).....(PMDG's DC-6) (Real Weather to use with SMP). I do spend a lot of money...(my choice).....on Flightsim and I think X-Plane has come a VERY long way since the first time I tried it out several years ago.(can't remember exactly when...but have been telling my pal's they really need to check this program out now....it may just be the future to our hobby) I've also been doing this long enough where I HAVE seen developers offer folks who purchased a program within the last 90 days get a "Free??" upgrade. To the newest of products. That usually never applies to me (smile)....when I find something I truly like I purchase immediately with each new version. There are other developers out there that I receive e-mail's all the time with "new and improved" versions of products being put into my account...no charge (MilViz .....is HUGE on supporting their products as well as A2A and many others) So.....Being new to X-Plane and haven't been following the program OR products......I was just asking.......... I'm not berating you guys......I was just saying that I sure didn't see anything on the order page at the time (Which I probably missed.....my fault)......and I bet I'm in a very small percentage that has actually screwed this up........but as developers,.......it just appears that me or my business isn't worth $20 to you. (39.95 - 20 discount......you'd make about 20 bucks) I seriously doubt there are thousands of folks this would effect in the past month let alone the 7 days since my purchase. I also FULLY understand you guys don't make a ton of money on products and believe me, having been involved in some big projects as a beta tester I TRULY understand there are a LOT of very long tedious hours that go into this. So please......I'm NOT trying to get something for nothing......I just asked the question......I don't agree with your decision, however, that's your perogative......no harm no foul....I'm moving on....I think we all should. I'm very sure me choosing NOT to purchase is not going to "break the bank"...(smile)....I wish you and SkyMaxx all the very best....looks amazing!! God Bless!!! Steve1 point

Well....I just received the e-mail that it will be available in a few hours. While I've been a flightsimmer for over 30 years now (I still have my original FS-3 on 5 1/4 floppies....(smile)) I just purchased the X-Plane 11 Beta just over a week ago. Last Saturday...(7 days ago) I purchased SMP v 3.3.2. for the $39.95. I had no idea there was a version 4 coming out within days....or I would have waited. Contacted the developer this morning and inquired.........WOO HOO....He'll knock 50% off the $39.95 for version 4. (Hmmm......) That just doesn't seem right. Okay, okay....before I get blasted with the "The developers can't just give there stuff away etc., etc., etc." I do get it.....I DO understand somewhat. However, I was at least hoping that you get 3 downloads with the purchase.....I've used one........since I have 2 left and I did just spend the $39.95 within the last 7 days, they could at least throw me a bone and give me 1 download or something. At least something more than we'll give you a discount as though I've been using this for months. I guess it's kind of like me walking past a store and seeing something in the window I'd like. I go in and purchase it....and on the way out I see a sales clerk putting a new and improved version in the window.........somehow it just leaves a bitter taste. Well.....Nothing the developer is doing is illegal or wrong.......I just don't think it's very fair, but then again Life isn't fair all the time. For me...........I'm going to pass.....I've already thrown $40 bucks at this guy...... X-Plane looks like it's turning into an OUTSTANDING program.....my bet REX or some of the other developers will be moving over to this platform someday....I'll wait. It is just a game......and 11's clouds don't look that bad to me. There's other developers I'm sure could use my $40 bucks just as well. Cheers!!1 point

University and Delays Hi to the few people who check this/follow this. First of all, university is actually fairly reasonable this year, considering I'm in six full-time courses. That being said, reading Plato is kind of like trying to snort sawdust. So why haven't I turned out anything over the entire summer, or even given some empty promises like usual? I'm doing something pretty huge on the side, which will hopefully be done in about two weeks. That means that it's two weeks until Hawaii starts again. I'll give a hint regarding what I'm up to right now: It's not freeware, and it sure as hell isn't in the Pacific. That's all I'm willing to say. Thanks for everyone's patience through this. I've had my patience tested this summer a few times, so we're on the same page. Don't worry. Cheers, and stay tuned.1 point

Right not to be short or dismissive but we've been advertising V4 for awhile, it's no secret...... You decided to buy V3 and now you expect something for nothing......But wait we offer a 50% discount to existing V3 customers....that's really crappy I know....terrible practices I wish we could of stopped you , somehow read your mind and intervened before you made YOUR decision.... We are truly sorry....-1 points
