Woa! .. chill out man! You're wrong. I've been involved with Tech Support long enough to know that despite what you say, the reality is that it IS most likely to be your PC that has a bottleneck some-where, and you're getting so upset that you're not willing to accept and explore that possibility! The SAAB is CPU intensive, there's probably much more that's happening under the hood than other sims/planes and it's totally unfair to do the comparisons with other aircraft .. that comes across as a misinformed user perspective! First strategy for getting good tech support is to NOT tell the tech support guy he's wrong from the get go , and it's totally unrealistic to expect any optimisations on the SAAB straight away .. right this minute .. because all the guys have been working at it for so long to get it out the door, they need a break from it! C'mon, where's the heart? In the mean time, it's now up to US (the users) to see what WE can do with regard to optimising OUR PC's .. and see if we can't all help each other enjoy this fabulous creation! We need to be solution centric ... do a bit of research and see if possibilities don't pop up with a more positive frame of reference. That way everyone benefits. Cheers,4 points

Working on a VOR route from KLFT - KIAH. I made a few mistakes and will need to mod the route for future flight. This video was pulled from my live stream. Enjoy2 points

I know there are already several maps and websites showing and rating scenery. Most of them, however, try to show each and every available scenery. Basically for my own use (to remember what I have installed and where I can fly to), in January 2013 I started to create my own map, where I only include free- and payware which I actually use and keep on my HDD. Maybe this is also of use for others, so here's the link: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/viewer?mid=zKdUoyDRH6j0.k7Q3rMFgZpe4 (Old version, will not be updated anymore as of Nov 23rd 2013: http://goo.gl/maps/ndsBp ) Ratings are simple: - Yellow: Okay - Blue: Good - Green: Very good You will notice that only a few airports have a "very good" rating, most of them have only a "okay" rating. The rating is VERY subjective, though, and payware is rated more critical than freeware, for example:1 point

So one thing that is important to us at IXEG is that we try and get the interaction with the cockpit as realistic as we can..and still feel natural in feel, look, sound and operation. The flap lever in the 737 is gated...so in reality, you have to pull it up out of its gate, move it to another position and let it slip back into the new gated position. It has a very distinct motion and sound but at the same time, its a relatively smooth operation so the challenge was to recreate the motion / sound / feel in sim......and it has to work with both the mouse and default flap buttons (1 and 2 keys). The video below shows using the mouse manipulator followed by the default flap keystrokes. (11.2mb) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/955680/flapslever.mp41 point

Exactly ;-) What i am searching for is quite simple: an aircraft like the NGX 737 from PMDG. So i really hope the IXEG 737 and the B757 from FF will soon come out...the x737 had indeed a nice system-depth 2 or 3 years ago. But now it really should be improved, since the standards had become much more higher now. But i know that they are working on it. So there is one more reason for me to hope about a release of it soon;-) I wish you nice flights as well ;-) F.1 point

Oh and this to me is the most rewarding type of flying. You are involved the entire flight with the Nav system as opposed to punching in waypoints on a FMS and only clicking switches when necessary. I feel like I accomplished something, when I takeoff and Land at the airport I was navigating to.1 point

Sooooo. Since Redpiper1 is making videos..... Does this mean you are close to release? You do realize, I need this to complement my Brand New Shiny Saab.1 point

The VS "wheel" is not a wheel, its a switch. You have to click, hold, and drag. Up for for Neg and down for positive. 165kias is a bit high for 20' flaps. I'm usually gear down at 150 with 7' of flaps. 140 15' flaps and 130 ish 20' (which is probably on the high end)1 point

I was interested right up until i saw the stupid touch pad controller.1 point

I understand this. It doesn't sway me, but there are plenty of posts here from real users, as well as reviews on the actual product page for you to gauge the product. The gap between reality and this product is essentially non-existent from a simulated system standpoint. It took 3.5 years to develop this for good reason. It's up to you now to decide whether you want to dive in or not, as I can only say so much. This topic has gone round and round for two whole pages, and so at this juncture I am going to put a close to it...not because I am dissatisfied with your responses, but because you asked a question, and you received an answer. That's really the end of it. There are certainly much bigger fish to fry. I can say without doubt you are missing out on a very beautiful simulation that represents the real aircraft and its systems in a very big way...more-so than any product for X-Plane ever released, and that's a bold statement on my part. Have a good one, Tristan, and hopefully we see you in the friendly skies someday soon!1 point

Well, I don't know if Linux is the future of gaming, but it seems to me that this guy, Gable Newell of Valve, is on to something. He is building up expectations, by releasing new information gradually, creating some sort of hype, but still making it believable. http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/ Comments over the web seem to share some of the enthousiasm : http://www.osnews.com/story/27340/Valve_announces_Linux-based_SteamOS_major_devs_on_board http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/Valve-Beta-Boosts-Linux-Gaming-Full-Steam-Ahead-79043.html The idea of SteamOS is to create a Linux-based distribution, stripped down and optimized for gaming. http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/ Indead, for gaming (or simulation), there is no need for a general-purpose desktop OS with lots of overhead. The Steam Machines will have this SteamOS pre-installed.http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/ He promises to keep the hardware and software completely open, as opposed to the gaming consoles that we have now. Mind you, he still wants the vendor-lock-in for the games from his store, but gamers will have the possibility to buy the hardware from different vendors with SteamOS pre-installed or not, or assemble their own using standard components. . Now suppose (I am wildly speculating here) that the Steam platform gets widely adopted and becomes an accepted standard. Either a Steam Machine, or any PC with SteamOS, or in fact any Linux distro that adheres to this standard. In that case, the suppliers of our favorite simulator and add-ons could release their product for Windows, Mac or ... "Any Steam-compatible platform" ... The way X-Plane is written, it doesn't need a full-blown desktop OS. Being cross-platform, they didn't try to adhere to one desktop environment or another. So, a stripped-down OS, optimized for gaming (anti-flaming disclaimer: X-Plane is not a game) will do. I am not saying that they should distribute it via the Steam store, just the fact that the platform is standardized would reduce the support hassle of different Linux distros. I can dream, can't I? Hey, Nvidia is dreaming too (but for a different reason, they want to open a new market for their graphics chips) : http://www.tomshardware.com/news/steam-box-steamos-nvidia-valve,24405.html http://www.osnews.com/story/27347/Valve_announces_Steam_Machines_1 point

What " YOU " need you meant I admit I never understood the fascination of people to fully computerized airliners ... but real piloting, I mean in real life are done in small plane or twin regional turboprops ... Have you ever wondered why real life airline pilot are soaring gliders and doing flight aerobatics over the week end ? To keep a good feeling about piloting, cause during the week they are only programming FMC ... Anyway, it's a matter of taste but you got the 777,CRJ200,A320,747, incoming IXEG 737, EADT 737 and much more I forgot, that are complex airliners, and we have only the BAe, Q400 and the Saab ... We are X-Plane, not FS, so maybe we should balance the aircrafts per category instead of filling teh airliner category and leaving others empty ... Especially as turboprops holds a very important place in real world aviation !1 point

As an owner of the 340A, I can speak of its quality. It has certainly raised the bar for X-Plane and requires no excuses when compared to some of the PMDG aircraft I have seen. And just think, it's only V1.0...1 point

The EADT project is a freeware effort by a small group of hobbyists, and one of the most respected names in X-Plane for the amount of personal time donated for everyone's benefit. It's second to none for the price you pay. This isn't Mortal Kombat. There is no "battle of developers" with the last one standing. There is room for both a higher-end payware model by PMDG and EADTs freeware model.1 point
