  1. I know. Wasn't directly speaking to you or anyone else. It's just one of those things I see on here and other forums and I am perplexed by it. Back when Rotate said their MD-88 would lack TCAS at 1.0, people said that was a deal breaker. That confuses me. I fly on PilotEdge and I do take it seriously. But I do remember it is a sim and if I make a mistake( ATC procedure wise, plane hitting me, etc) I take it, learn from it, and move on. The 733 lacking TCAS for 1.0 is not that big of a deal( to me at least). There are a lot more important features the plane needs to have for release than TCAS. I just find people tend to overvalue TCAS.

  2. My sentiment exactly. When everyone was peppering Cameron as to when this a/c was going to be released, he replied 'when it's ready'. I defended his reply from the standpoint that it should be released when it is ready to be released, meaning almost completely bug free. As a result I got a bunch of dislikes hence my negative reputation. For me personally I can wait another year if need be. Tired of products being released only to have their forums quickly filled with bug complaints. All these suggestions of 'nice to haves' are great and I look forward to them. They surely have been noted by IXEG and will be added in subsequent versions.

  3. About a month ago, I was doing a JetBlue flight on Vatsim from JFK to FLL. This was of course in the Scarebus as Jan calls it. Anyways flight was going beautifully, no turbulence, a strong tailwind due to a storm, I was expecting to end the flight on a good note. I began my descent into FLL and there were no atc online, so I suspsected I had to do my own navigation to land. Again, everything was moving smoothly, but then, FLL CTR came online, and it all went downhill. I had to wait for about a half a hour to wait for traffic to clean up. Finally, I was cleared for a visual approach. Flaps down, auto brake armed, spoilers armed, ready to land. Unfortunately, I wasn't told that there was low visibility in the area. That would be fine, except little did I know, I was headed for the wrong airport and was in fact approaching a regional airport. Cleared to land, landing gear down, I got no feedback from ATC that I was doing anything wrong. I was a little high, but I knew I could slow down in time. Anyways, short final, I begin to second guess the airport, it didn't look like FLL, but I stupidly dismiss it. I land, all is going well, however, when I go in to pull the reversers, they won't open. I'm getting closer to the end of the runwy. I keep trying at the reverser but nothing...that's when my plane flew off the runway and did a flip and nosedive directly into the ground. I disconnected shortly after that. The funny part of this story is, I fly for a VA and they dont support X-Plane so there isn't an ACars plugin so I do it all manually. They STILL accepted my flight because they had no record that I crashed. Anyways, thanks for listening.

  4. That looks awsome, Colin! Kind of reminds me of the Jurassic Park intro scene, but I think that was Kauai. Anyway, really great work I can't wait to get my hands on this.

  7. Interesting thread. I will add mine if someone is interested. One of the first flights flying with live ATC, I was departing from ESGG to ESSA with the 737-200. An easy flight which I've trained on, and I felt quite comfortable with the aircraft. Though, as extremely nervous I can be, I remarkably managed to get by clearance and taxing to the runway without the passengers noticing any unusual. Cleared for takeoff at runway 21, I rechecked everything was okay. Pushing the throttle, and when leaving the touch of the runway, I retracted the gears and prepared for a left turn, while checking my speed. Retracting the flaps, and increasing the speed, I felt comfortable on being on the right course and climb. In the climb I activated the autopilot, and I noticed that I hard time getting up to speed. Also the aircraft heading and course differed more than normal, I rechecked the weather, as maybe I interpreted the winds wrong, but the winds was calm. Than I realized the flaps was not full up, I've missed a step! I turned off the autopilot to get a feeling of the aircraft, and I had to strongly compensate with left aileron. I've damaged one of my flaps! I retracted the flaps hoping that it would get better, but no difference. As I did still have a managed control of the aircraft, I did call PAN-PAN-PAN and stated I wanted to return to departed airport. I got vectors and turned the aircraft around, prepared the passengers and approach routines. Though, as a stupid problem-solver you are, trying to make things better but instead making it worse, I extracted the flaps, hoping the aircraft to be more equalized in aileron output, everything got worse! At this time, I was not able to compensate the aileron, aircraft turning right slowly until I was upside down. Seeing the altitude decreasing rapidly, I called MAYDAY, just seconds before hitting the ground. There was no more radio transmissions from this flight.

  8. I only talk for my self @ChevyRules As i said. Im not expecting/requesting TCAS to be implemented in v1.0. But for me, since I only fly online on VATSIM, the TCAS feature is adding the little extra, for me. Yeah I can fly through other planes and move on. But what does that give me? If people dont care about other traffic online they should fly offline. I will love this plane anyway, with or without TCAS.

  9. Most will be real world, with maybe 2 or 3 fictional liveries. I'll be making a paintkit and using that to make quite a few liveries. Not sure of a number yet, but maybe around 10, give or take a few. I have a nice little workflow developed, and pumping them out shouldn't be too much of a chore.

  11. Thanks Sundog and VanSkruv, and sorry for not responding earlier, but was studying the problem and I had to reformat up to five times, thinking it was the problem of S.O. and libraries. Eventually and fortunately I have located the problem, and it was '' an airport !!!!. This airport is downloaded from xpfr and are small airfields in Guyana, inside it has a plugin that was generating me the problem. I do not understand is how to act if I have not loaded the airport. But ... issue resolved and my apologies for the inconvenience Sundog. Thank you

  12. Most of the time, ground personnel are wearing noise-cancelling headsets, and it is hard visually determine whether the engines are running or not. The spinners patterns are used to make sure ground personnel stay away from running engine. I don't know about the theory of scaring birds, can they actually focus on the small engine spinners instead of the huge airplane?

  13. Roger, thank you for your answer. Hope you guys will reconsider the priority for that feature after v1.0 is released. Its a very neat feature for situation awareness when flying online. As mention in previous posts also. Especially in uncontrolled airspace. And it makes you feel less alone up there when flying ^^ The advisory function is not that important (for me), but the traffic would be awesome. Tom Stian

  14. There is no dome with a periscopic sextant (Comet, some 707), because of the pressurization. Waiting for the bubbled 737-300, you could do some training with a real one: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/bubble-sextant No more expensive than a nice graphic card. Claude.

  15. Those domes really add character to those old pistonpounders. But I'm not sure if it would suit the 737 that well Img from flickr

  16. My guess is that there are more evident parts of an aircraft that attract a bird's undevided attention a bit more than that beautifully decorative spinner whirl. I would consider a taxi or landing light and the aircraft noise quite annoying. But hey, it turns out I'm not a bird. So what do I know. This is what Rolls Royce said about the whirls: I think their main reason is for ground crews to see easily if an engine is running. On a related note: props have the stripes on the tips to make them more visible while spinning.

  17. Hehe, guys, I hope everyone realizes that this thread is ment to be just a fun diversion - no need to give Vantskruv bad rep! Anyway, I am intrigued by the early use of astronomical data for navigation, and I recommend the book "Longitude" by Dava Sobel - a great read about the problems that early navigators faced. Of course you would have to be a very adept user of a sextant to navigate your way through a typical Italian SID, plus have clear skies . I think the 707´s and some military planes used to have that skyport necessary for that? Jan

  18. I agree. You need to redo the cockpit. Because of this, release will probaly be postponed, but it is worth it! Cannot wait to see the new cockpit screenshots with the sextant in the roof!

  19. Technically, thats not quite correct . Just like the real weather radar we depict radar-energy returns. Radar energy will be reflected by liquid water (rain) and by the solid ground (in varying strength, depending on the reflectivity). There will be a tutorial video that shows how to use the weather radar (overscanning, underscanning, ground returns, shadowing, etc.) Jan

  20. When you fly oversea, and Mr. Kyler:s FMC fails, this should be used instead: http://www.dh-aircraft.co.uk/news/files/fa209f26b0321f2de7499e6f2c846588-101.html (Periscopic Sextant) Hereby I state that I refuse to buy this airplane if above function is not implemented. Mr. Kyler should scrap the FMC and release the airplane with this tool. Those who agree, please vote by agreeing in this thread. The other people who do not understand the magnitude of importance for this, state the reason why you not concede. Mr Kyler, I demand you to release the airplane now without the FMC.
