Hi there, I agree with you - the goal is a fully functional FMS, and no feature is so "unimportant" that we will simply leave it out "forever". But - as I said before - we need to omit some stuff for 1.0, or delay release even further. We opted to omit things that you can probably do without the easiest. Custom Holds: I have never, ever flown a custom hold AFTER I got away from that pesky instructor in the glaring Arizona sun in1993. Maybe a "hold at present position" (can´t remember, though), but if ATC asks an airline pilot to "hold at the R-155 at 35DME to LBE with 267 deg inbound, right turns" I would LOVE to hear the reply on the radio. Regular holds :I fly about every two months or less. Of course that depends on the destination/weather/time of day. If I had to fly a holding and my FMS couldn´t fly it, it wouldn´t even raise my heartbeat - I probably wouldn´t even have to put down my coffee! Just push HDG SEL as you come up on the fix, turn the heading bug in the direction of the hold to the outbound bearing (you can use a calculator, if you have to), push the stopwatch as you complete the turn. Maybe adjust a bit for wind. ATC won´t berate you if your inbound timing is 0:55 instead of one minute, they have other problems to worry about if they stick you in the hold... Offset: I think I said that before, only really used on Oceanic/African Ops. If you really have to, you can also do that with HDG SEL as a substitute. User created points in flightplan: This is something I do about once a year in real flying. If I am bored. Display of RTE data on EHSI: This is one I actually miss, as it greatly enhances situational awareness. Restrictions to meet, speeds to fly. I think we will have that fairly quick. Of course you can just look at the LEGS page to see the data... If you let 90% of your flight be completed by the FMS, you are either lazy, a bad pilot, or need to get an Airbus! Jan5 points

Excellent, then my post served it´s purpose. Thank you for not berating us on missing feature "X", but to do what you feel is right for you and to wait until the project has reached a level of completeness that you feel appropriate. All the best, Jan4 points

Again, I can totally understand your stance and it is the reason why I made the post in the first place. I try to not be an "early adopter" on many things myself - especially in software development these days most software will get better and get cheaper - so it´s win win...if you can muster the patience and stand the fact that everyone else is already playing that cool new game, and you are still on Battlefield 2 . Your choice is perfectly valid and I am not going to convince anyone to buy this unless you believe that you are getting your money´s worth. Of course you can already play with 1.0 while we work on 1.1 - or you wait until 1.1. The money spent is the same, but you gain a few weeks of fun. Then again, we might bail to Mexico or the Carribean with the first week´s income and never fix this, that is your risk with a day one purchase! We will still be here when you finally cave in . Cheers, Jan3 points

(De-)pressurization is also in. But you can only open the windows if the PSI delta is < 0.1.3 points

Can only speak for my self, but at least I "want all the features to be close to real, at least functional to some extend" Shotcomings or not, things not simulatated is just shit in the cockpit that has no real value to the overall flight simulation experience and PMDG is a good example of such. Flying around with their "in op" buttons and gadgets. I suggest we drop this debate and move on to rooting for IXEG, because in the end it must be up to the individuals if they want to buy a unfinished aircraft or not.2 points

This alone is worth its weight in gold you cannot comprehend my intentions. Perhaps you just love to debate, don't know...don't care. I stated nothing to indicate a study level sim will not and should not have specific features. I stated for a version 1.0 release, these items are non-consequential. You are definitely making a bunch of nothing, and given the actual usefulness of the features (or lack thereof) in day-to-day life as Jan has so eloquently pointed out, these are really not enough to be making a big party about...especially knowing the commitment IXEG has to implementing them. If you're a nerd and want to use these features, great. They'll come. But, it's apparent some people assume some features are or would be used more in real life than they are. That's my point. It has zero to do with whether they should or will be implemented. You're quite educated on this product, Eddie. Let's stop debating. It's wasteful in the context of time.2 points

@jonathan To be clear, our team of testers has had various versions over the course of the last year, so this has not by any means been a short beta. It is how we've dealt with this entire development cycle which will make the final beta version a short test (hopefully).2 points

Tom, V1.0 won't be a "public beta", it will be a addon with specific areas that are worked on at a later stage. Even though it won't be 100% bug free, what we can expect is a fully working addon in the areas that are simulated. I do too prefer a "complete" addon over one with things that are done later, but lets face it - the development has taken much longer than anticipated and I believe with V1.0 95% of the customers will be satisfied. For the other 5% you've got the list of items. Since you seem to belong to the 5%, it's perfectly okay not to jump in at the first release. But what disturbes me here is that it seems like you are trying to spoil it to other people. IXEG is playing with open cards, there is no need to badmouth their work. I deeply respect them for their dedication. As for ABS, navigation system, cruise control - it's all in. Okay, no offset and no pilot entered holds (thats the rain sensors). Would you notice, unless someone told you about it? You can do normal VFR flying, radio navigation and LNAV/VNAV and explore lots of other features around. Try mastering that, unless you have a professional license and a rating, it'll keep you busy for a long time.2 points

I think you can remove that point from you list: I am not sure about pressurization but noise level is definitely there :-) Greetings, Sebastian2 points

Tom; With all due respect, I'm pretty sure the only product that will ever live up to your unique individual quality expectations is your Dash8-100. We look forward to seeing what you can do to advance the state of the art when it comes to flight simulation.2 points

Laminar Research has released X-Plane 10.45 RC-1 to the wild. As per their release, "X-Plane 10.45 is a “small” patch for us in that it doesn’t contain major changes to the code, but it contains a number of features you might like." Changes include: An update to the global airports. The global airports won’t conflict with custom scenery – new exclusion technology prevents overlapping buildings. Nav data has been significantly updated – lots of bug fixes are in 10.45. The GPS data for the G430 now contains IAFs, so you can fly GPS approaches with proper transitions. Proper prop torque for aircraft that opt in.1 point

Since Alaska just did an epic rebranding (and I don't mean epic as in cool, I mean epic as in massive, huge, surprising, etc), I decided I'd jump on the task of getting this done for the X737 (my first non-Hawaii related livery) and give everyone and opportunity to say what they think of this new livery... (politely). I personally think it's cool. I miss the old font, but the new colours combined with the old image on the tail are really great... although it is a little too close to the general branding style of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. That is a bit of a silly complaint though, since they are over, and it was one hell of an awesome theme. And now everyone wants it. I feel generally positive about this change. By the way, that tail design took a while to get looking alright.1 point

I don't post much, but as an Instrument rated SEL pilot you just made me spit out my coffee when I read the above, It's just not an airline pilot.1 point

Ok so no date for release yet but I'm interested to know; when you've completed your backlog for the first release, will you release straight away or will you spend some time marketing and planning a release?1 point

short·com·ing: a fault or failure to meet a certain standard It's not hard to see what @frumpy found to be badmouth-like language. If you fail to see how your post could have ever felt that way then I too am confused. Truth be told, most everything Jan has listed is non-consequential. He went out of his way to list items that in all reality have zero bearing on daily flying life of a 737-300. As a captain with thousands of hours experience, I would trust his word. Your post was indeed a slight. One that came about a LONG time after this thread had been made, on a forum you visit practically daily, and only after you were found in a spat in another topic. Let it go, man. Quit arguing, acting like you have no idea what other people are talking about, and move on.1 point

Chilled as one can be I am said the curious fellow in the blue jumpsuit with pink elephants on it.. Regardless of your little effort grumpy I am actually looking forward to this airplane and have been since the very beginning. But I must say I am in no hurry to buy either. To me it does not even begin to matter if I buy version 1 or 3 thinking Its actully better to wait a while. Why your curious mind screams? Well sir, my humble opinion is that all good things comes to those that wait. And perhaps some of the "child sickness" bugs are out of the way.. Take the JARDesign A320Neo as an example, which aircraft do you think is the better one, version 2.6 public beta or version 1.0? So most of you might add, but you can enjoy the aircraft while you wait for an update or "what if everybody think like you, they no body would have bought they plane", heck some might say that I do not support the community by not paying or "helping the developers". Well yes you are all right, but its my choice and whilst I do welcome any new airplane, its not obligated to purchase. To parafrase you frumpy, I for one car not to buy a car when the dealer says to me "It does not come with ABS, navigation system or even adaptive cruiz control, but we are most likely fitting this later on for sure". Of course its a un-fair comparison a 3D plane and something you depend your life on, but the essence is there and I do belive you understand what I am coming from sir. I for one can say for sure that I will buy this airplane, even if it cost me 300 dollars down the line. That said, as a paying customer I do belive I have the right to state publically when or why I want to buy or pospone to buy this airplane without being asked to chill out, catch my drift sir?1 point

Seriously Tom, no one forces you to do anything. Someone is making a product and you either like it or not. It's like a carmaker not offering a rain sensor for a specific model. Would you write them a complaint? If you are into the most tiny bit of system depth, check out PSX (guess what, there is no rendered window view). Chill, man!1 point

Ben posted at the same time as I, and pretty much the same words. Nothing he said was wrong. Let's not get into a debate on who needs to "relax" (though we'd all love to get this out and relax ourselves). Keep in mind you're the one asking the questions, not Ben.1 point

No one here is trying tu set up a deadline. Just an estimated time, relax ...1 point

No news to share on release at this time, and to be real honest, I don't think we'll really ever do so until the product is actually complete. Giving firm release information, even when it's in honest estimation just doesn't serve a great purpose. All that matters is we're all heavily involved and working daily on it.1 point

Dear pilots, We have reached a point that we are almost finished with all mesh works! We turned O'Hare to a big building site, but I think for a good reason. Our determination to provide you the most "real" environment, drove us to overcome some tough obstacles in our way. For example, KORD sits on to mesh tiles (+41-088 and +42-088) which had gaps (!) by default between them! We fixed that, though it required us to learn to use a different 3D application to do so. The images are a rough preview of some of the edits we have done. Still remains a lot work to do, but at this point we have accomplished a major milestone on the project! Enjoy!1 point

Hi all,we are pleased to inform you that our projects Antarctica (Part 1) by maps2xplane (mesh scenery) and AT01 EGAR Rothera Station by palple (Base sceneries) are in best sceneries of January 2016 contest. If those who have downloaded the sceneries (that are to date, 733 in x-plane.org and 48 in FlightSim) have appreciated our work, they could vote on them as best sceneries.http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=92942Thank youNino1 point

A delivery flight from Seattle seems to be realistic option. we cant fly a plane that did not get delivered1 point

Patterns and testing at my usual test airport (EGPK Prestwick), to get comfortable with it, then I'm not sure, it'll depend on the weather at the time and the scenery I have installed. LSZH to LEPA and back again is always a good one to do, using Aerosoft's Zurich and the brilliant freeware Palma scenery. But one flight I'm itching to do is repeat the EHAM-LOWI tutorial that I'm familiar with from the PMDG NGX - I think it'll be fascinating to compare the two aircraft and see what the similarities and differences are on the same flight.1 point

I'm not making a "bunch of nothing", nor is it being blown out of proportion. I'm giving my honest views on the subject and your mere disagreement is not enough to warrant my silence. In fact, this is IXEG's own philosophy - "we'll simulate even the things you don't see at first to add depth to the simulation". You seem to have the wrong idea as to their intentions, honestly. I can understand wanting to defend the product, but just because the features aren't in v1.0 doesn't mean that IXEG themselves don't think they're important or worth adding. They're useful to several users, including myself, and I don't appreciate being brushed off like that.0 points

Please stop trying to make a bunch of nothing, Eddie. You're being ridiculous. You're not oblivious as to the intentions of this project in the future. Don't blow this out of proportion more than Mr. Knudsen already has. Thank you.0 points

I think it's fairly apparent now that; A: we don't give release dates. B: It'll only be released when we're satisfied that it's ready, no matter what we say about any release date. So no. No news on release dates and even if there was it would be a completely soft line in the sand subject to change to suit the quality target NOT the other way around. Thanks for asking.-1 points

Thanks for warning us to buy version 1. I for one will wait and see what the next versions will bring to the table, especially regarding the system simulation shortcomings...-1 points

With all due respect Ben, do the busses go where you live? My reason for asking is that you clearly cannot see the difference between a product made by amatures and product made by professionals? And oh, in case you did not fully understood, the professional one being IXEG 737 and not the Dash8.-1 points

Point taken Camron, just replied a previous post. For what its worth, waiting for the bird my self, shortcomings in mind-1 points

Honestly, whether something has "zero bearing on daily flying life" has nothing to do with whether or not it should be in a full study sim. Look at Aerosoft's Airbus X - they only model what the pilot would use on a daily basis, and it's an incredibly shallow, superficial simulation. Obviously that's not what IXEG's going for (as mentioned, they'll be added in later), but to claim that these features are completely unnecessary in a study simulator is absurd.-1 points
