Landing at KFSO. No freeware custom scenery I have works too well with v10 Taxiing... Spent far too long trying to get the beacon right, If you notice it on the no. 2 engine. The exterior lighting is top-notch for a default plane! That's all for today, but I will have more tomorrow when I do my first trans-Atlantic flight in the new updated 777! (Been procrastinating on this one for a long time, will need a trip to the grocery store to keep myself stocked for this one! .)3 points

Hello! I always announce my projects late here... But anyways, I want to see the response on the other side of X-Plane community. This project is in work by me and Airfighter. It's going to be payware, hosted on X-Plane store (for sure) and other sites (not yet decided). I hope X-Aviation permits selling this on their webpage. Here are two Blender renders from the cockpit and the exterior model, I made the exterior one yesterday and the cockpit one today, while writing this: Hope you like it! Mat2 points

Never heard of the company "Pipistrel" before and just today i've seen this on a local air show: Nice marketing slogan2 points

The 770 is actually a better buy than the 680 and costs less. There is a 4 gb version of it with better memory bus speeds than the 4gb or 2gb 680. It has the same type of memory speed as the 780. It's also 10% faster overall than the 680. It is essentially an upgraded 680. So given that it's less expensive and more powerful than the 680 makes the 4gb 770 a no brainer in my opinion. Better to go with new tech not old tech especially at a better price point. Also, if you decide, get the overclocked Gigabyte 4gb Windforce version of the card.2 points

"Fairly good" just doesn't cut it anymore imo, although I concede that for some it's a personal choice. On the higher end, X-Plane is moving into the realm of hi-fidelity systems and graphics ... the days of pandering to those who won't (or can't) upgrade their hardware are dead and buried. A decent bells and whistles flight-sim will require a bit of investment. We all make our own decisions to balance out the ratio between the hardware we're willing to spend on, likewise the software and the effort to maximise life of hardware.2 points

First I would like to thank you guys for your interest! I would like to put some notices about this aircraft. This is almost a paralel development both real world aircraft and this one for X-Plane. As we speak, the real aircraft is in flight testing phase. So, we have to wait until her final flight characteristics are finalized. We have a good relationship with Pipistrel and they are providing us data about this aircraft. But this is not mean that they are envolved in this project here.About avionics. The test aircraft is equipped with Dynon Skyview displays. The production aircraft will have (as option?) the G500, but G500 is not displaying engine data, so there is something missing. Anyway, since we have to work with what we have now, the Dynon displays will remain on this aircraft. As for DYNON displays, and both GTNs (750/650), are really very complicated products themselves. So, and because I dont like to fall short on promises, these avionics will have most of their functionality, but there are not going to be fully simulated. And of course this aircraft will be heavily SASLed!1 point

The plane will be released when the authors/developers are ready1 point

Horani, My last post said that we'll be switching in the 'coming months'. It's not that it will take months to build the 64-bit version, but I need quite a bit of time to coordinate the swap to the new version of the third party library with all of the customers. The commercial operators need time to schedule the upgrade. We'll see how this test goes in Europe. I can't comment on Australia without knowing about the potential market size there. If you have any indication of the number of potential users there, it would be good data to have.1 point

The last leg I did in the tour was from Phuket to Adelaide, and there I'm still standing. Took lots of pictures, but somehow that long flight made me a bit tired of using airliners. I will certainly continue the tour, though!1 point

We don't like giving out release dates, purely because there can be many unknown variables. (Fixing 1 thing which can break 5 others) All I can safely say is we are rapidly approaching external testing.1 point

I'm kind of new to this forum and this has probably been asked a thousand times but is there a release date for this plane?1 point

The ERJ 120 is another one near the top of the list and is also being heavily considered.1 point

From Cameron: 1) That's shocking. I used a specific case study in sim to compare my two cards. In the same scenario, the 2GB gave me between 19 and 26 fps. The 4GB, on the other hand, shot into the 45-60 range. Of course, this meant I was exhausting my VRAM on the 2GB since the boards and chips are pretty much the same. So long as you're not really exhausting that, your performance between the two should be pretty similar (is SOC higher speed than classified?). 2) For some people, you're right...the 780 is a no brainer. That said, I would hesitate against a 4GB card for my situation (bandwidth means squat if I'm exhausting mem!), and to MOST people it's going to be about bang for buck. With the Titan, 780, and 680 all being out now, the 680 no doubt is a great bang for dollars spent. The performance is fantastic. 1) When I did my test in X-Plane, I first figured out how to configure the rendering settings to fully saturate the 2GB card. Then I applied the same settings to both cards. Out of the box, the SOC is clocked higher not only on the GPU, but the VRAM as well. For certain sceneries, I can run extreme texture resolution with objects and roads maxed out. In others, 2GB won't be enough, but 3GB, as provided on the 780, would get it done...for me. 2) I agree that bang for the buck, the 680 wins. Hands down. But for quite a bit less money than a Titan, the 780 is only about 8% slower. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'll try to find the tests that demonstrate both the fact that a 680 with 4GB is actually choked by memory bandwidth at high screen resolutions and that 3GB VRAM at higher bandwidth would be a better solution.1 point

That's because, per thread, the 4770K and even the 3770K have higher performance than either the 3930K or 3970X.1 point

I am moving closer to releasing the Beaver each day and I know that it has been a long time in development, but there are several things in the game here. The Beaver is my first add-on aircraft and therefore, there was a lot to find out and learn and this took quite some time. I started development primarily for XP9, because XP10 was not mature enough at this point, but the situation changed during development. Even the 3D aircraft and textures looked pretty good, I was not completely happy with it. A few months ago, I decided to start from scratch and to go for higher resolution textures etc. Sometimes, it is better to do it like that, especially if you keep an eye on the future and your development pipeline, which will be primarily XP10 for me. Probably XP10 only. Beside all that, the most amazing thing happened in my life, which is becoming a dad. As a lot of you know, this is a complete life changer, with respect to time available and other things. However, I don’t regret having much less time for development at all, because spending time with my daughter and family is much more valuable than anything else in the world. However, all this doesn’t mean that development stopped or that the release of the Beaver will not happen. Not at all! Work on the flight model, coding etc. is making good progress. There was a high speed stall on the 3D model and textures, but the Beaver recovered again. I guess I will be able to provide some news pretty soon. So please don’t expect a release within the next weeks, but some time this year is VERY realistic.1 point

He means that you post and act the same way as a troll who keeps making more accounts. But the situation has gotten out of hand and now everybody is paranoid that every new user with an "interesting" name is him. Just ignore it, as the suspicion is annoying to all of us, and you are innocent until proven guilty1 point

We haven't said much in a while so here is a verbal update. We are moving along nicely and we don't like showing in progress work before certain milestones are reached. We are working on the interior cabin, cockpit shell and galleys and such, most of it is modeled and we are doing texturing and modeling of details in these areas. This is nearly the last 3D to be done so we have been somewhat keeping our noses to the grindstone as it were and haven't looked up much to post anything. I would like to think in 6-8 weeks or so, we might get another video up with a lot of the new work in, but there are some other factors that will weigh into this that take higher precedence. We are staying aggressive trying to reach a late year release if we can. TomK1 point

This project has actually been passed on to me a few weeks ago. I really want to get it finished but I have to clear my current workload. Let me wrap up what I'm doing over the next few months and I'll see where I'm at. If I can squeeze it in as a side project, I definitely will.1 point

I'd be inclined to agree that a Garmin 430 is out of place on any Beaver, it just wrecks that antique look IMHO... Of course, what I wouldn't be against seeing would be something like a glare shield mounted Garmin GPSMAP 196 or something from the Aera series. But, I do understand why you would place a 430 in, especially since it is an easy fit due to the X-Plane included 430...1 point

Get that Garmin out of there. The "Immortal" Beaver to which you refer would SCOFF at you putting a 430 in that beautiful panel!1 point

If you think that was sexy.....what do you think about this? Some more progress on the cockpit with a few more flight instruments, switches, the flight control yoke, engine instruments, the Garmin G430 and a few nice little details.1 point

I wanted to share this video and maybe you know it already. It is about flying, the Beaver and ... Just another Pilot ... This video is touching me, and really shows what flying is all about.1 point

The -400 gives me a headache just looking at it. Someone say "HEAVY DUTY PLUG INS"? This one is definitely just the -300 series. Analogue gauges aplenty.1 point

A bit of news on the Twin Otter. Before you ask, this is not my project. I have been asked to do gauge animations and gauge programming only and the occasional post. I have absolutely nothing else to do with this project. There is no release date as yet.1 point
