Another Thankyou for an amazing aircraft!
Ben Russell replied to Scandi426's topic in General Discussion
I just checked through your posts and I can't find any other issues where you're reporting any of this, or any Log files to help diagnose it. You have a couple of posts referring to sound and other "minor" items. If you genuinely have issues as serious as these I cannot fix them without your error data and more detailed reporting. -
As a power "Unix" user it's pretty much inevitable that I end up with a Linux workstation as my daily driver eventually.
-
My post is not directed at you Jude. It's a general plea. Sorry for the confusion.

How about you give me a few months to recoup my investment of time, energy and the rest that went into this thing? The code builds, it just takes time and energy that is needed elsewhere to make this viable. That said. Even if I do publish a Linux plugin in future you will still be faced with the fact that X-Aviation only publishes Installers for Mac and Windows. In theory you will be able to install on the other OS and move the folder around. This is a trivial task by Linux admin standards. Hopefully in the future I will be able to justify the cost of a dedicated custom built PC rig that will be more suited to Linux and Windows. At the moment the only machine I have with any power is an iMac and the sound drivers break in Linux. Be nice, please. And we'll try not to make _this_ thread get hostile. Deal?

File Browser is something I wrote for myself and included by default because I thought some people might like it. Extension manager is another Gizmo utility and functions a little like an AppStore. Expect to see more functionality through this in future. As for the bugs; Jim and I are looking into them... thanks for the report.

Tom and Cameron are working as quick as they can to get all the final cross checks done on installer and package sanity. Shouldn't be too much longer. Thanks for your patience and excitement.

We have already made our technical decisions and we stand by them. We work for the majority. What you feel personally is not what we experience to be the majority desire or path of least resistance and best overall customer experience. I respect that many people do prefer a simple archive. You should respect that many more people simply want to run an installer, click five buttons and play their game.

Well here's a very simple one just for a start. The aircraft goes in one folder and the plugin goes in another. Additionally, the plugin needs to be upgraded from what everyone has. Most people don't want to deal with this. You're free to start your own venture if you believe otherwise and we look forward to seeing you in the market proving us wrong.

Official IXEG 737 Classic Preview Video
Ben Russell replied to Cameron's topic in General Discussion
Maybe for 1.2 we can worry about simulating the structural truss resonance between the push back tug and the landing gear assy... -
Speaking of which... for me, it started here.

I for one am glad of the x737 release timing. It will give everyone reason to be happy no matter their budget, OS or avionics prefs. More power to X-Plane. We're all on the same team.

I guess you missed the "near release" notices back in, what, December?

I cobbled together a stasis machine with a matrix cortex jack... it's all held together with some electrical tape, zip ties and an arduino but it got the job done...

If you would like to test using a default demo copy of X-Plane we can probably make some progress. The log provided above is jam packed with custom scenery and who knows what else. I'm happy to provide you with the trouble shooting steps required to break it down into smaller chunks... I don't expect to find a problem with our products though. So; to begin; re-test with a default demo copy of the sim. This is standard advice that you will receive from any payware author. Removing all your custom scenery will massively reduce the memory load, the VRAM load and the plugin system loads as well. You have OVER 1500 items in your custom scenery folder. There are probably over a hundred copies/variants of the ground plugin running. I'm happy to work with you on this but you have a lot more work to do to convince me that you've genuinely isolated a problem. A problem that absolutely nobody else is reporting. I have absolutely no doubt that you're seeing a problem. You wouldn't waste your own time reporting it. Default demo; minimal plugins; minimal products to reduce the number of possible interacting components to an absolute minimum. Then we can make some progress. (Updating SASL(and everything else) is an easy place to start.)

We appreciate the enthusiasm but this would delay the actual product release. Not going to happen, sorry.

We appreciate your patience. Support volumes / delay might be higher than normal at this time due to the recent release of Real Weather Connector. Thanks!

I "accidently" lost the key to the lab... they're all trapped.

The X-Plane SDK doesn't give us cross platform access to the right mouse button.

We're still not seeing any other problem reports anything like this from any of our other customers The rules of statistics mean that this is a problem with your machine and your software configuration. A real bug with our software will show up very quickly among hundreds or thousands of users installations. This in turn becomes a very visible issue all over the forums with everyone who's not happy posting their problems. If you can find anyone else reporting anything similar to this feel free to link those reports to this thread as additional evidence. In the meantime I will continue to watch out for wide-spread bugs with our software.

At least one of your disks is dying. Possibly even the motherboard. (If the disks are fine but they keep "disappearing" your motherboard disk controller is dying.)
