  1. Yeah. It's looking pretty sweet after being textured in PBR! Ok, I'll be serious. Jim has been under some pretty serious deadlines with his work on XP11. While he's been doing that, I've been texturing the Citation in PBR and non PBR (for XP11 and XP10 respectively), as well as some other things I've been working on in my spare time. I WILL post screenshots of the Citation in PBR when I'm satisfied with how it looks. Obviously not in XP11. I use an external renderer for those.

  2. Hello I made this LUA-script for randomly enable the built-in IXEG failures. The script enables the built-in IXEG failures + engine fire, engine failure and oil pumps. Have your QRH ready. Available failures by IXEG. The script activates when your GroundSpeed is higher then 40 knots. Settings: (edit the IXEG_Failures.lua) -- Here you set if the failures should be default enabled or disabled when your starting up X-Plane. -- Set true to enable failures, false to disable. Default is true. true and false have to be written with lowercase letters. EnableFailures_WizVar = true -- Mean time between failures (MTBF) is the predicted elapsed time between inherent failures of a system during operation. -- Default is MTBF_hours = 20.0. See further down for of a example of MTBF set to 10 hours. MTBF_hours = 20.0 -- Max simultaneous failures pr session -- Default is Max_Failures = 2 -- The highest numbers of failures is 27 -- setting above this can crash x-plane Max_Failures = 2 -- Set the level of failures you want. -- 1 = Minor failures, 2 = Minor and Major failures, 3 Minor, Major and Critical failures. FailureSeverity = 3 "ADVANCED OPTIONS" -- Set 'ImminentFailure' to 1 to enable the imminent failure option. When this option is enabled you can trigger a imminent failure with setting the SERVICE INTERPHONE to ON position on the overhead panel. -- The SERVICE INTERPHONE will switch back to OFF when a failure is triggered. -- The 'ImminentFailureMTBF' (in minutes) is the MTBF used when you enable the 'ImminentFailure' and set the SERVICE INTERPHONE to on. -- Default is 0. ImminentFailure = 0 -- Default is 5 (in minutes) ImminentFailureMTBF = 5 The Service Interphone switch How to enable or disable failures (for the session) with FlywithLua menu. MTBF: This graph shows a example how often you can expect a failure when you set the MTBF to 10 hours. Requirement: - You need FlyWithLua installed - XP10: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/17468-flywithlua-for-xp9-and-xp10/ XP11: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/35579-flywithlua-for-x-plane-11-and-10-windows-linux-mac-os-x-version/ - Tested on X-Plane 11 with Windows 10. Installation: - Simply place the script in [X-Plane]\Resources\plugins\FlyWithLua\Scripts Logging: Every failure is logged. You can find the logfile in your X-Plane root folder. The logfile is called IXEG_Failures.log Here is a sample of the logfile. Known bugs/limitations: - None. But please report if you find one Changelog: 0.113 - Added failures for landing gear. 0.112 - Added option 'Imminent Failure'. - Changed default MTBF from 10 to 20 hours. You can download the script here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/files/file/1054-randomly-enables-failures-for-ixeg-733/

  3. Hello, I always see you guys, talking about customizing a lot of standard behaviors of X-Plane, during the Classic's development. One of these days, while watching some real life videos of aircraft landing, one thing came to mind and I decided to chat about it with you. This is not a feature request or anything like that. Just curiosity! What do you guys think about X-Plane's modeling of landing gear suspension? Did you customized it? I'm asking because in real life, we always see, even on harder landings, the aircraft sitting down nicely. Actually, even on smooth landings, it has a nice effect of transferring the weight from aerodynamics to the suspension. But what I see in the sim, whether it's me flying or not, it doesn't happen. Seems like the bump force of the suspension is too high, so if you land smoothly, it almost doesn't compress at all, and if it's not that smooth (specially if you use 'runway follow terrain contours') it tends to do some small bouncing. I even played-back your "crosswind landing" video a few too many times to check it out, but the landing was so good, it didn't help. Here's a video of what I'm talking about: Jump to 1:05 and/or 2:25

  4. unfortunately I do not own the FJS and cannot talk to it. heard lots of good things about it though, just got too late into X-Plane probably and got stuck with the latest releases.. either good or bad. I don't want to add too much to the discussion, as I think I made my position pretty clear, but the discussion as such I believe is very healthy. If IXEG deems this is a necessary addition this is their decision, and I promise, I will not throw away my 737 because of that . They would probably not give a ... anyway! what would be nice though is to have the ability to de-activate these features if someone like me is seeking pure performance. I know they are doing it already with certain animations so I hope this flexibility stays and is enhanced.

  5. mmerelles is correct - but I am not sure if we will update the oil temp in 1.1 - it is really not a showstopper, but it requires a LOT of research and coding to get right (across all ambient temperatures, airspeeds and engine states)... In a way I feel that providing an accurate engine model is really on X-Plane´s table, not so much on ours. The current bypass engine modelling of X-Plane is rudimentary at best and we had to make quite an intricate coding cast to get N1´s and thrust correct. I will approach Austin in the future (once the dust settled around 11.0) and may work with him to get a good and customizable bypass-engine per default, and that should then yield realistic oil pressure and temperature values as well. 6. So I had the chance to give FlyInside a whirl during its beta phase - and I have to say, the X-Aviation MU-2 (which was one of my first in-depth X-Plane aircraft) is one of the most beautiful aircraft in Virtual Reality that you'll find. You can read more about it in the article: http://www.mudspike.com/flyinside-x-plane-10/ What is particularly nice about the MU-2 is that it seemed to be specifically created for VR. By that I mean, the attitude indicator, gauges, and the needles that hover above the gauges are mostly in 3D..which is important once you start getting into VR presentations. A good many other aircraft (such as some earlier Carendo GA planes) have "painted on" needles on gauges and stuff..which look fine in a normal 2D presentation or 2D virtual cockpit, but one you get into VR, those little shortcuts standout. Anyway, I'm very, very impressed with how the MU-2 looks and it is a blast to fly in VR.. BeachAV8R

  7. Wingflex is on the to-do list, don't worry I think however you will very soon get bored looking at it since the short and stiff wings of the 737CL require significant "bumps/turbulence" to get some visible action. The winglet aircraft however will show slightly more movement. The reason is winglets increases span and thus moves the center of lift further out on the wing causing increased bending moment. It's also visually easier to notice offcourse when the whole winglet moves.

  8. Seeing this topic, I'd like to share my experience with Lufthansa B733 this summer. I was on my way back home from a trip to England on 16th July. D-ABED(LH941)took me from EGCC to EDDF, then D-AIGL(LH780) took me from EDDF to ZSNJ(Nanjing, China). One thing to be mentioned, the aircraft for LH941 was A320 when booking this flight but about one month before departure, the type changed to B733. At that moment, I was flying IXEG B733 frequently on VATSIM, that news made me really excited. This was my first time but also my last time to fly Lufthansa B733. Weather in Manchester is not that good, at gate 24 ready for push/start. Moments after departure. It was the first time that SWISS CS100 flew to Manchester that day. I could see groups of people gathering at the spotting location near runway 23L when I was lining up the runway. B733 safety card Cabin shot. Final approach to 25R, great view of the terminal. Remote stand, first time to get off the plane from back door. Fanhansa livery, taken inside the terminal during the 6 hour transfer. D-ABEH D-AIGL waiting for boarding. I chose to fly Lufthansa because of the A343 but B733 gave me a great surprise! Climb out of runway 18, very nice rate of climb. In fact I prefer a 25C departure because it could let me take some overview photos of FRA airport during the climb. A343 cabin. In the end, some shots of airshows in England Thank you so much

  10. Yes - sorry in the delayed response. Interestingly, we just sold that airplane (the Citation V). I was a bit misty eyed to see her go. She has taken me all over North and Central America, the Caribbean, Bermuda..all safely..and all reliably. We sold her with over 15,000 hours on the airframe. Fortunately, we are replacing her with another Citation, which will add a second Ultra to our fleet. It is in Witchita at the moment getting the clamshell door installed.
