  1. That is the idea - Tom made an architecture for the FMS that is designed to take abuse without faltering. Now it´s not omniscent, and it´s still a computer - garbage in, garbage out. But at least we don´t want it to crash in those scenarios. We want you to be able to change your mind, edit, delete, enter again - all without folding up. This takes a very "robust" code, and that´s what we have been hammering at the last months. Jan

  3. Updated September 2023, Version 1.5 Hi everyone. While it seems to be the economically "smart" thing to do to NOT talk about the shortcomings of your product (and then sometimes to just ignore the complaints after you cash in the money), we are trying to run things a bit differently here at IXEG. I would therefore like to share a list of things that will NOT be in version 1.5, and also give a little background of why, and wether we are planning to add it later. I will try to make this list as encompassing as possible, if I forget something, please don´t sue me! I will add/remove from this list as warranted. Aircraft visual 3D model Ancilliary vehicles (catering, fuel truck, loading crew) - this is now accomplished by using the XP11 native ground vehicles, the docking locations for those are correctly added in planemaker. Cockpit keypad entry mechanism Omitted due to security reasons. Deployable emergency slides.Omitted due to time constraints, planning to add later. Deploying oxygen masks. Omitted due to time constraints, planning to add later. Sound effects/visual model for passengers and their (assumed) behaviour. Too complex a simulation off it´s own, most likely won´t be added for fear of having something repetitive or cheesy. Cabin crew voice interaction. You can communicate via menues that are invoked by pressing the cabin call button, though. FMS Pilot entered HOLDS. While we have database-inherent holds (like at the end of a missed approach), we won´t feature the HOLD page where you could enter all sorts of HOLDS. Omitted due to time constraints, definitely planning to add later. RTA feature. Omitted due to time constraints, planning to add later, but low priority. OFFSET feature. Omitted due to time constraints,planning to add later, but low priority. ABEAM points (after shortcutting route, for example). Omitted due to time constraints, definitely planning to add later. You CAN enter stuff in the FIX page, and "find" a PBD point that way (enter a fix, enter a radial and a distance to see the green radial and distance-circle) Entering descent wind forecast (normal wind entry on PERF INIT page possible). Display of "RTE DATA" on EHSI/map, i.e. showing ETA and restrictions next to waypoint. You can see that on the LEGS page, for now. Omitted due to time constraints, definitely planning to add later. Automatic entry of performance data (weight, etc.). We might include that for the "ready to fly" scenario, not decided yet. For now it must be entered manually, if FMS performance assistance is desired (not mandatory). Fully working PROGRESS page - we started to code it, but much of the things shown are placeholders. We expect this to be one of the first things we will add soon after release. Full VNAV functionality for descents with speed and/or altitude restrictions. The FMS gets confused by changing the cruising altitude while enroute and multiple descent restrictions and restrictions of a certain type. Basic unrestricted descents work, though. GUI Dedicated flight-planning software. We feel that this is not necessarily within the scope of our add-on. We model the plane like you get it after delivery from Seattle (+ free lifetime fuel!). There are plenty of flight-planning solutions out there, we include a basic "ballpark" fuel calculator. Complex and visually appealing load+trim software. We feel that clicking empty seats to fill them and pulling sliders to load cargo is fun for a few times - but really all you get is a weight and a center of gravity. And you might just as well set those directly in the gui. We have simple sliders and click-buttons for that (or you can use the default X-Plane menus). No way to output any CDU, EADI or EHSI onto an external device like iPad or such. Would like to have that (especially for cockpit builders), though. Exception: it is possible to use AirFMC, available at the Apple App Store. No pop-out 2D displays of flight instruments/CDU/EFIS to make reading or entering stuff easier, no hiding of yoke to not obscure view. We feel that the ergonomics (or lack of) an airliner cockpit is an important part of the experience, so we don´t want to "help" too much. We have "preview pop-ups" of the EHSI when making changes on the EFIS control panel to help you see if you have the right setup. Other systems Wxr radar returns can only be displayed on the left EHSI/map. Omitted due to time constraints, definitely planning to add later. Terrain colour display can only be shown on the left EHSI(map. Omitted due to time constraints, definitely planning to add later. Operating circuit breaker (CB). We decided that most CBs will never be moved in normal operation. We will add moveable CBs with the yellow collar later (to be used in abnormal situations), and possibly some others as well (standby altimeter vibrator!). Automatic startup/shutdown "macros". Won´t add that. This plane is about realistic operation (it´s not hard!). If not desired, just select "ready to fly" or "turnaround-state". IRS using "false" position. It is not possible to deliberately enter a "false" position and have the IRS align to that. The entry will be rejected unless reasonably close to the real position. In the real plane the GPS would also "correct" your wrong entry (if close enough) or warn you. A position far from the old "shutdown" position would be rejected once. A wrong latitude would be detected during the alignment process...It would be a lot of coding effort to maintain a "wrong" position with the corresponding effects (map-shift, etc.) A dedicated way to fly the same plane together in multiplayer. Note that SmartCopilot has made great progress in making our plane flyable with a crew of 2, and while not perfect yet, it is working very well, going by user reports: http://forums.x-pilot.com/forums/topic/9714-smartcopilot-first-attempt/?page=1 Volume control for radios/navaid ident checking. We have implemented a better volume (more loud), but it can not be adjusted yet. We are trying to be as upfront about the shortcomings of our model as possible. I have myself bought many aircraft for flight-simulations boasting great things, only to be disappointed. I want to avoid that for everyone, so if you find a "must have" feature on this list, I encourage you to hold off on purchase until we added your feature in a later patch. I could make a feature list of things we have that would take you hours to read, but instead you can assume that our plane can do everything that the real one does, except for the things noted above. When loading X-Plane 10.23, recently receiving the following error message: "unable to locate terrain definition: lib/g10/terrain10/sq_post_hot_dry_fl_md.ter (io_dsf.cpp:554)" When clicking "Understood" button, the application crashes (closes).   5. It sounds like you guys are actually not in agreement. He wasn't saying anything about default being better other than the chosen shots in the initial post did not do a "job well done" to what he's even normally used to seeing with SkyMaxx Pro 3. Later shots posted in other topics have shown this off better. I think you'll really enjoy what we have coming to you in your free upgrade to SkyMaxx Pro v3.1. As for overcast, you are aware there are multiple types for you to choose from, right?

  6. Yes, they are. The connector is meant to help with that. But that specific issue isn't exclusive to Skymaxx. The default coulds do EXACTLY the same thing. Once new weather situation is injected by the default engine or the plugin like NOAA, clouds are rebaked and everything pops, regardless if you use SkyMaxx or not. Ergo, I see no reason to blame the addon. As for visuals, it's matter of taste, but I have hard time believing someone actually prefers default clouds models. Though I agree on the overcast, I wish it would be much more "puffy".

  7. Hello, I sent that email to TSS a while ago. IMO, If you want a really good sounding aircraft, get the Saab340a. LES did an outstanding job using TSS sounds. Watch some youtube videos and you will see, C. Longo

  8. according to your log file you have installed an HD custom mesh which is incomplete and causing the error /zzz_uhd_global_scenery1/ move this folder out of your custom scenery folder not to load it and try again if it works. EDIT: also note that alpilot ultra hd meshes requires 10.25 and later mandatory!!! requirements here http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-uhd-mesh-scenery-v1/

  10. In a few days, the iGoDispatch application will be updated to version 2.3. The application will now use the Aerosoft navdata instead of the default one coming with X-Plane. The navdata will be included in the iGoConnect plugin. Therefore, it will also be required to update the plugin for the application to work properly (the updated iGoConnect plugin will be available at the same time). The Aerosoft's NavDataPro app is to be updated soon. When using NavDataPro, select "iGoDispatch (X-Plane)" from the list of add-ons and select the folder where the iGoConnect plugin is located (/X-Plane folder/Resources/plugins/iGoConnect/). The application should also be compatible with the following Navigraph dataset: "X-Plane GNS430, 777 Worldliner (Ext/Prof), Flightfactor B757 Professional...". You can manually install the dataset by copying and pasting the folder "navdata" to the iGoConnect folder. Planning a flight with the application now requires connection with X-Plane (i.e. X-Plane must be running on your computer). This is the only disadvantage related to the update. But this is a tradeoff that had to be made to ensure that the most recent navdata is always used. The next major update will be coming this summer. The flight performance analysis will be completely redone. Enjoy the flight!

  14. Well, my expectations are that the Weather Connector will further improve the graphics and realism of X-Plane and SkyMaxx Pro. The images you've posted do not demonstrate that in my opinion. Comparing the images you've posted to the default X-Plane clouds - umm..I think I'll take the slab of uniform weather since it is more realistic looking than your images. All these images are default XP weather read from the in-game weather downloading.. I mean, even the SkyMaxx Pro v2 and v3 clouds I've been seeing far surpass what you are showing - I think you are underselling what you have created if it is an improvement on what "default" SkyMaxx will do... SkyMaxx Pro screens: I'm just saying if you are promo-ing an improved product..post some screens that demonstrate it. Just trying to be helpful.. BeachAV8R

Hi gentlemen, I´m not sure, from where the strong wind against us (Navigraph) is coming from and I don´t know Mr. Cameron but here a few words from our side (Navigraph): I have nothing found in my personal mailbox about IXEG or X-Aviation. We are currently looking in the official Navigraph mailbox (https://www.navigraph.com/ContactInformation.aspx), if we have overseen something (which can be happened - for sure, we are humans too). Further, I haven´t found anything here in my mailbox of the forum. We can´t have our eyes everywhere to look for, which developer wants to use which format for which platform. Yesterday, a Navigraph customer had wrote us a PM in our forum and pointed us to this addon (thank you very much for that) - so the communication is possible, if wanted. Someone wrote here, that it exists a syntax difference between Aerosoft and Navigraph. For sure, because Navigraph uses Jeppesen as source and Aerosoft Lido. Jeppesen is a standard database - Lido codes the lines my yourself - but and that´s important to know: The result should be the same and several addons show this - look at the GNS430, look at the 777 Worldliner and there are several other addons (not only in the X-Plane world) - this addons can handle both provider without any issues. All procedures are there - no procedures are missing from the FMS as the poster here mentioned. So, it´s possible to make the addons compatible with both addons ... Now whats the different between Jeppesen and Lido: Lido declare the SID as Runway "only" transitions (that´s the letter "4" in the SID line).Jeppesen split the SID into a runway transition (4) and a common part (5)This is a major difference between both provider. EDDF is only a simple example, but there are more complex example, where you have a runway-transition, common-part and enroute-transition. The result should be the same, because when I select ANEK1D for 07C, the FMS should merge the runway-transition with the common-part (+ when existing and selected the enroute part). Next difference is the FA and CA terminal path in the first lines Lido coded this as fix to an altitude (means from the RWxxx to altitude)Jeppesen coded this as course to an altitude (means from the current position to an altitude)The result, should be the same - or not? Again, I have looked for a very simple example, there are a lot of procedures, which are more complex like this one. All in all, I don´t see any reason, why an addon can´t handle different sources, when the FMS is developed clean and correct, according the specifications. A really good example is the "standard" GNS430 dataset, which will be used on all platforms. The GNS430 dataset is in real the Fokker/Cheyenne dataset and this dataset exists since many years. Currently, we have no reports about any issues with this dataset, so it would be helpful (if issues exist), to report this issues, that we can fix it. Thank you very much - again, we are ready for all, when something is wrong, let us know please. We will try to contact you outside this forum, to see how we can help and how we can provide you ... but please stop the foreclosure, there is no reason to do this.

  16. We will try to also make Navigraph data compatible with the IXEG 737, just like Cameron said. If we can´t get this into version 1.0 you have two options: a.) Fly the 737 with the enclosed database and get an extra paper route to get Aerosoft nav-data when you feel the original database is too outdated for you. b.) Don´t fly the 737 at all. No one likes to spend money again for something they feel they have already bought. But I - for example - have one and the same movie on VHS, DVD and now blue-ray. Same exact show on every single one. Hmm. Why? Because I can´t watch the VHS tape on my current hardware, which I think is superior to my old tape player. See the analogy? Have a fantastic day, Jan

  17. The problem we've seen with Navigraph is that their format for procedures is inconsistent. We obviously have to write code to parse the file and interpret the procedures and Navigraph will have, in the same file, two separate syntax for the same type of procedure...and while we read one of them fine, there is a new one in there also that would take a bit of effort to parse. What this means is that if you use the navigraph dataset, then some procedure will be missing from the FMS. Ultimately, we can add code to parse this "strange syntax", but its not our first choice. The fact that there is two 'competing' syntax in the file for the same procedure type doesn't make any sense and we'd rather navigraph correct the issue. If they do that, then there is absolutely no problem with using the navigraph format. We will look into the issue post release. -tkyler

    Leeds Bradford - EGNM You will need opensceneryx2, and FF_LIBRARY to take advantage of all of the scenery additions. I took an old MSFS conversion done by Mr 3D and totally reworked it to bring it into the V10.20B5 world. It is my local airport and has changed significantly from the one Mr 3D converted years ago. The Baron is my inspiration, as he takes little known and underloved airports and brings them into the 21 century. I like lots of lighting effects, but in this conversion I tried to keep to what is actually there, so I spend weeks tweaking the airport with google maps and microsoft bing maps as my guide. Hope you like the airport. All my own work, and done with Mr 3D's blessing.

  22. Well the MU-2 IS a lot of fun... You weren't kidding with that "you've never flown anything like this in x-plane before" statement, at least for me this has been a plane that actually feels like its mine, you know, as if I actually bought it and own it for real. Maybe that's coz I'm just an indoor pilot with no real piloting experience, but this thing got me closer to the real thing than I've been before so there you go.. fun. I fly other planes still, but the "moo" feels different. I like the fact that it has a detailed interior all the way and not just the cockpit, so I often hop out from the cockpit to take a seat in the passenger seats and enjoy the view from there while the autopilot is following its route. It's a great way to take my mind off of work (graphic design). How often.. hm, well I work a lot from my home so that translates into a lot of flying too.. I guess I'm on this thing some 10-15 hours /week... or /day if it's a good day for flying! So wasn't the story so that you guys actually fly the MU-2 in real life? How does the experience in x-plane par with the real thing? It'd be interesting to hear some thoughts on that, like I'd think that you probably get some sensory extras from past experiences that boost the "feel" of flying in x-plane too. Oh yea.. the *where* is a factor here too, so I absolutely recommend the corsica ortho-scenery available from .org, I fly there all the time, to the point that I think I really have to visit the rock one of these days! Thanks again for a great plane! I'll be on the lookout for the b7 patch.. 9.3 is looking like a great update! ak

  24. Did I say any of what you just said I did? No, I didn't, and if I have it my way we'll have both. You should probably stop putting words in my mouth. I asked you two questions to understand your position. You STILL haven't answered. As for your talk of something doing the same as the other I recommend you read the rest of this thread again. Nevermind the fact navigraph seems to have a problem supporting the very developers who want to support THEM by not replying to emails. But back to my questions...where do you live and how much is a tank of gas there? I want to understand your perception of $40 better. Here in the states I can't even fill up my tank for that (or just barely depending on the day).
