Hi All, This is my first post, but I've been a lurker for quite some time. I am new X-plane user, and a recent convert from FSX. Tony, I am very impressed with your work so far, and one of my primary reasons for moving to X-plane is the potential for scenery creation, so your work is indeed inspiring!! Some background on me that my help put this in context: I'm an architect by day, and I primarily work on huge airport projects, (terminals, air side and land side, etc), and as you can imagine I am very interested in all things aviation. I initially looked at x-plane and a way to get our new airport layouts into a simulator to get a "pilots perspective" We create incredible detailed models (bulding information models or BIM) as we design a terminal, and this model has to interface with air-side models of the ramps and taxiways. Unfortunately I think our models are far too detailed to be brought directly into X-plane (we typically model down to the door knobs on doors), but I an investigating simplifying things so we can test our new taxi ways and gating plans, but I digress..... The reason I am responding to this particular thread is that the firm I work for does a good deal of urban planning around the the world, and one of my jobs is...you guessed it, to create massive city models with hundreds of thousands on buildings based our master-plan, which gives our clients a idea of what the new city could look like. To do this I use many tools but the one i fall back on the most is CityEnginge. (http://www.esri.com/software/cityengine) CityEngine allows me to script the procedural creation of buildings, based on what ever parameters I wish, it can dynamically create and update road networks, and regenerate 10's of thousands of buildings in minutes, if not seconds. It even reads OSM. A single CGA (computer generated architecture) script, can generate all of the buuildings you see in the images attached. If you don't like the results, hit a new random seed and the building regenerates. As these are the VERY low-poly ones! We can create highly detailed buildings, but that won't be helpful for x-plane. My goal is to help by generating buildings low poly enough for use in tony's tool. HOWEVER, and this is big, so far I can make and export thousands of OBJ buildings with the proper origin and "basements" as required, BUT i am having major problems getting the UV's to work with a texture atlas that is required. I've got good textures, but they are not on a sheet, etc. I've looked at post processing in 3ds MAX, Maya, and Softimage and I can get close with a few scripts, but it's not exact and required some hand adjusting, not ideal if i want to process thousands of OBJ's. IF anyone here is an expert on texturing in Max or Maya, (UVW unwrapping, etc) and could pass on a few tips, I'd greatly appreciate it. In any event, I'll hand process a few so that we can add them to the collection here. Looking forward to helping out! Best, Chris3 points

OK its was initially made for XP9 now upgraded to XP10-64 ( they are working on the autopilot) OK, is was not so very good textured an normalmapping was missing. OK it suffers the same grayish textures due to a mistake in the OBJ files I spoke about lately. ( see for explanation this post http://forums.x-plan...939#entry786485) or http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/6474-when-colors-are-dark-and-dull/#entry69642 BUT , once it was payware and now it is FREE With edited OBJ files and added normals it has the looks of payware. This livery including normals and customised OBJ files will be available soon.2 points

The freeware / donationware scenery X-Plane 10 Tree Lines and Farms V2 has been released! The "X-Plane 10 tree lines and farms V2" scenery is the second version of an overlay add-on for X-Plane 10. It tries to add "visual clutter" (tree lines and farms) to the usually relatively dull landscape of agricultural areas and grassy areas. Like in real life, with this add on, tree lines will follow - randomly - many of the roads, railroads, and the coastline of lakes or riverbanks. Every now or then, you will also find farms standing around. All in all, this gives a much more "lively" feel to the default scenery and it is best used together with HD Mesh Scenery V2! Version 2 covers: EuroeNorth America (up to 60N)It is completely heuristically derived from OpenStreetmap (OSM) data, and thus you will NOT find real counterparts of the depicted tree lines and farms (this means, it aims to be plausible but not necessarily 100% realistic!)! You can find detailed instructions and downloads here (and yes, flightsim.com is still the main download site, BUT they now provide BitTorrent out of the box too and they are already seeding!): http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-tree-lines-and-farms-v2And of course, there is a large selection of screenshots too: North AmericaComparison Shots (Europe + North America)Have a lot of fun!2 points

After Some troubles in how to log an Xplane flight for the FlyBe VA I've just completed my first flights with the Saab340. Just an amazing bird! Until there is a more complete RNAV system available for the Saab I'm using the KLN90B. Here are some screens, all scenery is freeware and the skythemes are freely available from Aerosoft. Preparing for departure at Kirkwall. Climbing enroute to Glasgow. Real working weather radar Top of descent in to Glasgow Enroute to Islay Breaking trough the cloud layer The small apron at Islay Lining up for the flight back to Glasgow Joining downwind on departure Outbound Glasgow VOR for ILS23 Estab ILS23 gear traveling. Kind regards, Jorik1 point

Blocks are not rendered randomaly-> Much more textures variation-> much more eye candy. I also edited some data refs art controls , the scattering effect is amazing,I'll share the values in a txt file with the download. We are working now to model more land marks. Don't bother the lack of photoreal for now. PS. performance are excellant,I'm using MAX settings in XP (including Max shadows) in exception of the AA that's set to 2XSSAA. As I posted before my GPU is a poor one (GTX 460 1GB),so the performance per settings is just excellant!1 point
