  2. OK I have made some adjustments and used Alpilotx's winter trees to boot. Normal maps have been toned down a bunch and I reworked a bunch of textures. Thanks guys for the input, sometimes I can get a little snow blind hehe....

  8. John, I see that you winter trees are not "optimal" ... but did you know, that there is already a winterized texture set, which can replace 1:1 the default (XP10) tree textures? The current XP10 tree texture sets are all taken from my old XP9 forest scenery. And at that time, I once did a winterized (made by hand) version of those textures. You can find them here: http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/old-forest-downloads/ You need to look for: Euro_trees_winter_v9.1.1 usa_trees_winter_v9.1.3 There you get 3 textures, which have exactly the same layout as the default tree textures (even the name of the default textures has a little hint at this, by having an "e" for Europe, and "uw" and "ue" for USA West and USA East texture set)

  9. I don't know if you have seen these You-Tube's on the B737-200. I admit it is not the -300 but it is really interesting information, great video's as well, the landing was a work and a half... The take-off is really short... But the landing is excellent, check out the ancient FMC! Flightime56

  11. Was reading another post at another forum, fella had the same trouble. He had configured his throttle (a Saitek throttle) configured for Throttle 1 vs Throttle. One engine was getting all the power and the others none. What kind of throttle set-up are you using? How is it configured in the set up? Is it a problem with one engine aircraft? Jets? Twin prop? For future use; You don't have to reinstall x-plane in most cases, just delete your preferences and run x-plane again. x-plane/output/preferences. Do not delete the folder, just files. Then you will have to reset all your rendering and and joystick/control items, but better than having to do a complete reinstall. So tell us all what your set up is and maybe someone can give you some help. Chuck

  12. Looks pretty natural to me. Hope you'll do a Southeast US version without snow, just trees with no leaves on and brown grass/ground textures. -NR

  17. Hi OldAirmail, I had more or less the same reaction as you when I switched over from FSX to X-Plane. In fact, I still miss even the procedurally generated airport scenery of FSX. With that being said, however, I re-installed FSX about a month ago for old times sake, and I'll tell you what, the scenery is not enough. I've gotten too used to the feel of X-Plane, and the flying experience is just so much better for me in X-Plane. I know both sims can be used to create simulated experiences "as real as it gets on a home PC for pocket change" but X-Plane just seems to do it in a way that FSX doesn't. And to be honest, I've never had a computer that handles scenery well. I end up just turning it off anyway. My only positive suggestion is to find a plane you really enjoy flying (my personal favorite is the MU-2 you can purchase at X-Aviation) and use your imagination as best you can for rest. Or mainly fly to places that have reasonable scenery built up.

  18. Enjoying the area north of San Francisco, looking down on the far north end of Lake Barryessa, just east of the famous Napa Valley wineries. This flight is heading west toward the Napa Valley and the city of Santa Rosa - beautiful day to take some friends up for some VFR site-seeing!
