  1. I suppose I should demonstrate some form of life. I'll have to get with Jan on that as our radar (best I recall) had most of the features of the real thing. As far as "coming out soon", here's what I'll say....and this is overdue for sure....and I'm not going to convince anyone to believe me or not on the timing. It will get looked at and updated at some point. As sure as this is my 20th year actively involved in X-Plane work, it will continue to be so. A year and a half ago, things changed for me when Laminar announced its new store initiative in Montreal. I took a job with Laminar to completely rewrite its developer documentation. This was a "look to the future" for both myself and X-Plane, at the cost of 'now'. Laminar are looking to embrace a future generation of developers and we need to have better learning materials to engage this generation to develop for X-Plane, so I'm that guy....thats for Laminar. For myself, I needed more stability and a cushion, as the add-on market for X-Plane is still too thin to have any kind of long term security. Taking on this work with Laminar has allowed me to close out all other obligations and stay in the X-Plane ecosystem for the foreseeable future. The 'problem' for my customers and X-Aviation thus far, is that the initial phase or work to revamp and deploy the documentation was/is huge. New developer web site, new manual formats, a new, interactive PlaneMaker manual, lots and lots of rewriting, new illustrations...etc....and that has taken a good while to develop and received all my focus to get to what we call the "initial deployment" of the docs out the door. That initial deploy is not terribly far off. After the initial deployment, I will settle into a more regular time schedule that will afford me the time to get back to my own work. It has been my effort over the last year to try and achieve a point where I can only work on X-Plane endeavors between now and my retirment......and there have been personal hurdles along the way that are neither anyone's concern or business, but real to me just the same. It is my intention to crack open the MU2 and 737 again in early October, to resume work on my 'X-Aviation' things. I have discussed this with X-Aviation also. Between now and then I am focused on getting an initial deployment of the new docs out the door for Laminar. We will look at the IXEG radar early on for sure. I want to remain developing for X-Plane fully and it is my firm belief that this path i've taken was the required path to do so, and I apologize for the silence and delays. -tkyler

  2. Man, its a shame this project never materialized into what it was supposed to become. I used to love flying the ixeg in xp11 and had high hopes it would be completed. Every now and then I check back on this forum to see if anything has changed and unfortunately still nothing. Xp12 is looking seriously good these days, I just wish the ixeg 737 was up to par because it has huge potential.

  3. If you hear nothing from us, assume that the project is not abandoned but no work has been done on it that would warrant us sharing any progress info. If we abandon the project, we will announce this here - so if we don´t - you know it´s not abandoned.

  7. I've flown the B733 a few times since this conversation started back up. Even without any updates, I found the Vnav and Lnav to be incredibly stable. The aircraft, even in its current state, is a lot of fun to fly. There's no harm in giving the developer a gentle nudge requesting the status of updates. The harm here is accusing the dev of completely abandoning the project, which, in my understanding, is not true. In my years of living, and trust me, I've got many years under my belt, I've found that I can generally catch more bees with honey, rather than vinegar.

  8. It's not dead at all!. Before I say this, a bit of disclosure. I AM NOT involved with IXEG, and I will not discuss or mention details/plans I will let official channels do so. I met Tom at FSExpo this past year in PVD and had a good hour long discussion with him about (mostly) the 737 we all love. NO IT'S NOT DEAD. He discussed details with me that if he wishes to share one day he can, but it's not my story to tell. But it's a VERY interesting story at that!. You folks would not believe the dark side of developing that happens. Like many of you, I too have been frustrated with the 737, but after talking to Tom at Expo, I can say I heard it from the horses mouth, THE 737 IS STILL BEING WORKED ON!!! Again I won't discuss what Tom discussed with me about what's being worked on. ALso @tkyler I would like to thank you again for you time at expo, was an absolute pleasure meeting and talking!

  9. Hi, Apologies for the delay in replying. I have done some extensive tests, and the following are my observations. Sounds: * I checked my sliders in X-Plane - all maxed. I discovered my headset was set as system COMMUNICATION DEVICE, and not HEADPHONES. This seemed to make a minor difference in quality due to the max bitrate of the output. * Nose gear RETRACT sound - this only plays ONCE! Once you have taken off and retracted the gear, it NEVER plays again unless you land, AND THE NOSEWHEEL TOUCHES THE GROUND. I'm assuming there is some air/ground logic tied to the nosegear, and for some reason the gear retract audio is dependent upon the aircraft having been on the ground. You can replicate this by flying around and just cycling the gear. Extension plays always; retraction only plays on the first retract cycle since being on the ground. * AP disconnect sound is practically inaudible, even with headphone volume turned up and being deafened by the engine noise. * Wind noise is extremely quiet if it is present. I flew at 300 kts and couldn't discern any difference in noise. DME: * DME speed and time display - this is bugged. It works as expected as long as the aircraft trajectory is in the 180 cone flying AWAY from the station. As soon as the aircraft has any closure rate with the station, the DME speed/time reads zero (e.g., flying directly towards the station still reads zero). Flight Director/Autopilot: * HDH mode - I checked real-world docs, and it should roll to wings level THEN hold whatever heading it is flying the moment it reaches wings level. It is NOT a simple wing-leveler; if the aircraft is disturbed after this point, it will roll back to the heading it was on. The bug is that it is capturing the heading at whatever moment ANY flight director or AP mode is engaged. This is the part that is not correct. For the avoidance of doubt, the sequence of events for HDH mode is thus: * HDH mode (e.g., all FD and AP modes DISABLED). * Aircraft is flown with e.g., a 20 degree left bank * AP is engaged. * ALT HLD engages, and HDH becomes the active roll mode * Aircraft at moment of activation is passing 210 degrees heading * Aircraft should roll to wings level, at say 200 degrees heading * HDH should enter heading-hold submode at wings-level on 200 degrees, and not any other heading that was present prior to this. HDH mode should "forget" the heading it was on when the AP is disengaged. Upon being re-engaged, it will again roll wings level ONLY, and THEN hold whatever heading it is on at that moment. The roll knob will operate as it currently does as this is correct. Confirmed working as you describe: * GPU generator (seems the default setting of 800 A is already sufficient to prevent volt drop during start) * Battery overheat * Engine fan - I compared this to several videos on YT (yes, I'm aware of the problems of sound recording and YT compression), and it sounds very similar.

  15. The solution is for the Tobii plugin to stop controlling the camera while its functionality is paused in the sim. This is a software issue with their plugin, not the CL650, which they’ve ignored for several years despite being informed by other users.

  16. Can we therefore agree that it would be mutually beneficial if the IXEG team posted status updates from time to time? So that customers don't conclude that the aircraft has become "abandonware" and so there is awareness that issues are being worked on? It's not unreasonable to provide an update every 6 months or so - "Hi guys, the work on version 1.6 is proceeding steadily, our priorities are recoding of the FMS and recording of engine sounds. Lots of work still remains with FMS rework, we've tackled 10000 lines but there is still 600000 to go. This will address some of the VNAV issues of previous versions. We've rerecorded some of the auxilliary sounds. We're hoping to work on some improvements to the cockpit texturing but that's aimed at future updates". The amount of time it takes for a post like that to be collated and written and it'll reduce the backwards and forwards, misunderstandings, wrong assumptions, arguments and offence. People will no doubt say "is there any update" - quote the latest update and say "Our last update remains accurate - work is still ongoing. There is not much else to say"

OFFICIAL SUPPORT: Official Bug tracker: https://bitbucket.org/iliastselios/p180_avanti/issues?status=new&status=open Support Forums: DESCRIPTION: As you might already know this aircraft is based on X-Plane's default P.180 Avanti , originally designed for X-Plane 8, was included in X-Plane 9, and from that point has been overhauled to Avanti II version. This is aircraft is totally FREE! It is a "return" to the X-Plane community that supported us those last 4 years that we exist as a development team! This aircraft main features are: High quality visuals, cockpit all new 3D model and textures, including PBR materials. Simulated: a. startup and shutdown procedures b. engine controls and operations c. autopilot controls and operations d. partially operation of the electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel systems. Emulation of Proline 21 avionics suite. Currently there is only one layout that will allow you to operate the aircraft in all scenarios. Many improvements will come in the future. Installation in the 3D cockpit of the default X-Plane 11 FMC. Improved flight characteristics. Internal custom lighting. Of course Avanti development is not stopping here! Actually the overall development will be continuous, and the aircraft will always be in beta stage. Updates and upgrades will be available frequently! Main planned future upgrades are: Adding more functionallity to Proline 21 avionics suite, heading from an emulation to a simulation. Custom NAV maps. Custom FMC. Fully simulation of all systems. New 3D model from ground up. Improved flight model. Avanti EVO. Special thanks to: Austin Meyer for giving his permission to use parts of the Avanti on this project and X-Plane by Laminar Research that gave us this magnificent simulator! The team that originally developed Avanti for X-Plane, Robert Pearson (aerodynamics), Massimo Durando (cockpit & 3D cockpit), and Javier rollon (External Model. JRollonPlanes www.jrollon.com) for his fantastic 3D work. @Hueyman for the propeller 3D model and the prop disc images. Ben Russell of Gizmo64 for his support and that made available to us that powerful tool (aka Gizmo), and Cameron Son of X-Aviation for the support. And of course X-Plane community for the interest in that project and patient to wait to be realized!

  18. We thought about it, but there is a reason why we did not include this. On aircraft without automatic alerting of incorrect barometric setting below/above the transition level/altitude, it is procedure to change the settings separately. For example if you fly at FL 210 and ATC says "descend to 4000 feet, altimeter 1032", the PILOT FLYING will change his altimeter immediately to the QNH setting (so he does not forget and the plane levels of at the correct altitude), but the PNF will only change his altimeter as he passes the transition level (so that if ATC changes their mind and tells you "stop descent at FL190" you have one altimeter set to the correct STD value, still. If we had made the altimeters sync, too - it would be impossible to follow this correct procedure with the sync enabled.

  21. Hello! I built a 737 classic cockpit and connected all my devices to IXEG 737 Classic Plus model, successfully connected absolutely everything, all inputs and outputs, except... Except the IRS display on the afteroverhead. I can't find any dataref that matches the image on the screen in any of the modes. I would appreciate any form of dataref, be it just a string variable or an array of integers where each number represents its own segment on the screen. Please help. I have a completely working cockpit, except for one small but very important detail that separates me from full immersion in flight, and aircraft model accordingly from being completely finished for cockpit builders.

  23. Hi, @Cameron I’d like to clarify something. At no point was I disrespectful in my wording. Using terms like “abandoned” or “disregard” was not meant as a personal attack, but rather as an honest reflection of how the situation looks and feels from a paying customer’s perspective. I believe constructive discussion includes not only praise, but also criticism...sometimes strong criticis, especially when issues remain unresolved for years. Expecting customers to tone down their language to a point where frustration cannot even be expressed seems unreasonable. I respect the work behind the scenes, but I also ask for the same respect in allowing honest, even if firm, feedback.
    1 point
  24. That’s all very nice to hear, but as paying customers, we’ve been listening to “behind the scenes stories” for years while the aircraft remains broken, outdated, and without proper updates. Promises, secret details, or “trust me, it’s being worked on” don’t change the reality: the IXEG 733 has been in the same state since its rushed XP12 release, leaving customers with a paid product that feels abandoned. Transparency and real communication through official channels would speak louder than any private conversation.

Linux wizardry that I want to learn and thats an very good thread to start learning some things hehe Thanky to you all for trying to help me. 31. Ok thanks for that, saves me researching it further. Seems a shame there is definitely an editable BOW. And there so much detail and so many features in the amazing CL650 I just thought maybe it edits the config. Ultimately depending on the customers specs the Challengers would come out of the factory within a certain weight bracket but not every aircraft will have exactly the same BOW. And during the service life of the aircraft any retro fitting of equipment would require re weighing the aircraft and updating the BOW. But thank you for the information

  34. The gross weight can be entered on the approach page to check "in advance" what kind of approach speeds you would expect (like when you do the approach in one hour or so) - accounting for burnt fuel until you actually will fly the approach. This is rarely used, but the way it works in reality. Normally you are not supposed to EVER enter the gross weight or zero-fuel-weight after the initial setup. The fuel totalizer will add the current weight of the fuel to the zero-fuel weight (as entered by the pilot) and thus your gross weight will always show the correct, current value.

  39. There were not promises made about a weather radar in X-Plane 11. I'm not sure where you came up with that idea. There has been talk about creating one with Laminar's advancements of their weather engine in X-Plane 12. The market has largely left X-Plane 11. There are very few customers on that platform, as majority have adopted X-Plane 12. Laminar does not supply a reliable way to read weather data for a radar yet, and they certainly won't be adding it to X-Plane 11. For the same reasons they won't go back in time, nor will we. You will need to update your simulator to X-Plane 12 if you wish to have a reliably accurate weather radar.
    1 point
  40. No, you will not be able to do this on your own. To be clear, you should also not expect a weather radar to be available in X-Plane 11. This is going to be a feature for X-Plane 12 once available.

  41. You are welcomed! At this point, with Gizmo having no future, the only way to make it work is to rewrite the whole code in a c/c++ plugin. Unfortunately this is far for trivial or fast to do, and a have no free time, at least for the 2025. But after that might do something big for the Avanti.

  42. I've been a loyal fan of EVGA for many, many years. I have their 1000W supply. And most of their other products. Broke my heart when they got into some tiff with nVidia and stopped making gpu's the 3090 being the last one. I bought the nvidia 4090fe mostly due to size constraints. I an 83 years old, retired 34 years ago, purchased and moved onto a motor yacht, presently in St Maarten, Dutch West Indies in the Caribbean. As you must imagine, other than expenses associated with this boat, I have little to spend money on which enables the ability to buy whatever hardware I need to fly X-Plane since I miss having owned my own aircraft , a Mooney which I purchased new in 1967 and have more than 10,000 hours of pilot in command time in that aircraft and many others. Kind of a special case. I have all but begged Coop to complete and release the updated Mooney's, please before I die.

  44. Hi all, with the upgrade transition finished, I thought I'd report on whats planned to help set expectations for the future and into 2024. A high priority is weening off of technologies that may cause "show-stoppers" for customers or in danger of causing conflicts as XPlane and computers evolve. This means the transition to the FMOD sound engine is first up...as we've seen some issues for customers and is a sign that things aren't going to get better. This is a pretty good sized job as we have quite a few sounds we have to port and we also have a LOT of code we have to excise without breaking other things. A port to FMOD easily sets the stage for many more years of compatibility. We don't work completely linearly...so in interstitial gaps in time between FMOD work, we'll also begin integrating in the XP11 Navdata format. Users won't see this for some time as its a big under the hood change. This is necessary not only to improve the IXEG FMS, but is also necessary for two future products with FMSs and as with FMOD...ensures forward compatibility...so this move to the XP default is also quite important. Third, we'll also begin work on the FMS VNAV / holds / performance predicitions. This work depends on the XP11 navadata to some degree, but not competely so we'll be able to make strides in this department while working on the XP11 navdata format transition also. Also, we're refactoring (rewriting) an enormouse amount of code for future-proofing and developing a new graphics library along the lines of what the RSG and TorqueSim folks are using. This will open the door to more engaging graphics for GUIs and value-added interfaces such as failures and EFBs etc. and Finally, we'll work on a new, high-resolution exterior model with new paint kit. We expect this work to take most of 2024....but it very much has applicability in the other projects we're doing so the end of the road isn't just some "under the hood" stuff on the IXEG, but also new models. Thank you for your support, we'll continue to keep working. -Tom Kyler

  45. Half-baked update? I flew this 737 today and even with all the X-Plane 12 updates since the IXEG's last update, it still flies nicely. Maybe a few quirks, but certainly not "half-baked". It followed my flight plan perfectly, LNAV, VNAV, Auto Throttle and Autopilot all worked as they were supposed to, landed nicely (although a little firm), but in all was a good flight and good experience.

  46. Let me understand: the cl650 was released for XP11 initially without the weather radar. So XP11 users have been waiting for this for years. Now, you say that you won't have weather radar for XP11. Sincerely? Lack of respect and consideration for all initial buyers. Hot Start's regrettable attitude. I will not buy any more products from you, as I do not agree with the company's disrespect towards its consumers.
