  1. Another small update. This time on the radios and Garmin GTX. All radios and the Garmin work as per the Collins and Garmin documentation. So we're talking 100% simulated radio hardware. All manipulators for the radios and fine & coarse tuning have been completely reworked and are now click and drag and are much easier to control. These will be added to a future update of the Saab as well.

  4. As part of some experimenting that I'm doing, I've put together a little web app that aircraft authors can use to browse and filter datarefs quickly...similar to Dataref Editor (DRE) in x-plane. If you normally use the list of datarefs found at xsquawkbox.net, this will be welcome relief. Simply type in a search string and hit enter to filter the dataref results. Case insensitivity is included in the searches by default because well, Austin wasn't the most consistent in this area. Also, the search box supports PERL style GREP expressions. So you can search for things like: cockpit2.+actuators.+ratio which would list all cockpit actuators that set a ratio value. In addition, there is a quick filter pull down that lets you filter by common categories depending on authoring needs. For example, you may be animating a cockpit in blender and only need to be concerned with actuators and controls...or you're just working on Landing gear stuff. This is a 'practice app' that I'm using to learn some specific things. The tech I'm using is what is called "reactive" in the sense that if I make a code change and upload it, you will see the reaction automatically without you having to refresh the page ...so if you're browsing with the app and all the sudden the page looks like its refreshing, then you know I have made a change. The changes I will most likely make will be visual and/or to increase the filter options or perhaps add a few checkboxes for whatever reason. There is no plan, this is just a sandbox project that I happen to find very useful at the moment and figure other authors might as well. The app is hosted as a "guest" on its server, so no telling how long it was persist. TomK http://drbrowser.meteor.com/

  8. Awesome! My main worry was the community wouldn't see the value. I am glad you are seeing what it can do...... Its something you need to see in motion to fully appreciate.....

  10. From Airliners.net: The 100 seat 717 is the latest development of the popular DC-9/MD-80/MD-90 family and the only Douglas airliner which Boeing (which merged with McDonnell Douglas in 1997) plans to retain in its product line-up. It is designed for high cycle, short range regional airline operations. McDonnell Douglas first announced the MD-95 at the Paris Airshow in June 1991. At the time MDC anticipated a formal program launch by late 1991 and a first flight in July 1994. As it happened program launch was not until October 1995 when US airline ValuJet (now AirTran Airlines) ordered 50 and optioned 50. In January 1998 Boeing (following the August 1997 Boeing/McDonnell Douglas merger) relaunched the aircraft as the 717-200 (the second use of the Boeing designation "717", as this was previously allocated to the military C-135/KC-135 family). First flight took place on September 2 1998, followed by a second development 717 on October 26. Certification was awarded on September 1 1999 while the first delivery, to AirTran, was on September 23 that year. Initially MDC studied powering the MD-95 with Pratt & Whitney JT8D-218s or Rolls-Royce Tays. In February 1994 however MDC announced it had chosen the new BMW Rolls-Royce (now just Rolls-Royce) BR715 over the JT8D-200 and an engine from the proposed "Project Blue" teaming of General Electric, Snecma, MTU and P&W. Other 717-200 features include a fuselage 1.45m (4ft 9in) longer than the DC-9-30's, a wing based on the DC-9-34's, an advanced six LCD screen Honeywell EFIS flightdeck, and a cabin interior similar to that developed for the MD-90. It is offered in standard 717-200BGW (Basic Gross Weight) and extended range 717-200HGW (High Gross Weight) forms. In addition, 80 seat shortened 717-100 (formerly MD-95-20) and 120 seat stretched 717-300 (formerly MD-95-50) models have been studied, as has a business jet variant. Companies participating in 717 production include Alenia (fuselage), Korean Air (nose), AIDC of Taiwan (empennage), ShinMaywa of Japan (engine pylons and horizontal stabilizers), Israel Aircraft Industries (undercarriage), and Fischer of Austria (interior). Final assembly is at Boeing's Long Beach plant, in the same building that the DC-9 and MD-80 were built in. Initial orders and operators are: AeBal, Airtran, Bangkok Air, Bavaria International Leasing, Hawaiian Airlines, Impulse Airlines, Midwest Express Airlines, Olympic Aviation, Pembroke Leasing, Qantas Link, Siam Reap Air, Trans World Airlines, and Turkmenistan Airlines. Even if this is the final version of the plane there are no LIT textures and some airlines are missing, if somebody wants to make LIT textures and extra liveries feel free to do so. If somebody could make a fake AA (new) livery that would be great, I lost patience after a week of trying to make it

  12. I am doing my best spreading the word. I have mentioned it already several times on www,simflight.nl. The last posting was here: http://www.simflight.nl/2014/03/07/world2xplane/. Maybe you don't understand everything, thats not strange because the language is Dutch my friend. To me this is one of the important tools for getting X-Plane on a higher level. So thumbs up for this marvelous project.

  15. Tony, Outstanding job! I hope as a community that we are not underestimating the potential this little tool that you've developed has and it's ability to change the way we see the scenery in X-Plane forever! As a recent convert to X-Plane, from years of MS, I have little doubt that I'm looking at the future of flight simulation scenery. Being new to the X-Plane community I hope that those of you who have been around for awhile are spreading the news of this development through every X-Plane forum available. If there was a proverbial "flag pole" for us to gather around, World2XPlane is it. Tony, and anyone else that is using Tony's tool...can you please provide the scenery that you are developing. For myself, I don't care about any flaws you perfectionist might think that they have...they are certainly better than anything I've seen thus far. Tony...I'm dropping you a PM, please check your inbox.

  20. X-Plane a smaller community than P3D ? How is this possible ? Prepar3D is only for students, developers, professionals, only for Windows, and only for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment.
