Aw sheesh ya'll I couldnt help myself. The illustrious SkyMAXX Pro 1.1 update shots Enjoy cause I did. 4xFXAA+FSAA all the way, very high tex, high distance view. Edit: shadows still on overlay. HD mesh v2 and photoscenery from Interlaken, Switz. Flying the Carenado C90B.. FPS heavy cockpit and textures plus its fast as f***. SkyMAXX Pro settings are maxed out. Im SkyMAXXED for real. (except puff rotation is default like 5% and god ray 80%) I dont know if this really happened or not. Is this actually real life? I cant.. I doesnt seem.. could it possibly? No, there isnt.. how can it... but it is! ALL PROPS TO JOHNMAXX As always click to enlarge to full resolution. Shaking in my slippers. (fyi this no more than 10 minutes worth of flying and tweaking) No vis 30 FPS wot m8? This is where I really started to lose it.. Ya'll are now baskin' in the god rays of the magnificent JohnMAXX (man crush, so what?) You really need to see a comparison of God Rays on and off. Here is OFF. Here is ON. Like 80% intensity. Its like bright in my eyes and stings and stuff cause Im looking right at the sun And now my eyes dont hurt because Im not looking at the sun, instead Im seeing nice mountains and a wing .5 points

No, project is not dead, just slowed down. Starting a new life in a different country isn't that easy as I thought before Currently working on instrument panel texturing. Nothing much to show for now. Definitely update, if have any show-able shot3 points

What folks like about PMDG is two-fold. 1.) They simulate what folks want....deep simulation. 2.) They deliver! Number 2 here cannot be overstated and as mentioned earlier, they have a reputation for delivering. When PMDG develops a simulation, you know what you're getting. In the x-plane world, that kind of repeatability of uber-detail has not yet been demonstrated IMO. With IXEG, we are trying for not only uber-detail, but the "next level" also. That is, we look at PMDG..what they offer and we say, 'we have to offer that"...but we also look at what they do not offer and we try and offer that too to push boundaries. Now until we actually deliver though....we can't be trusted and therefore do not have the credibility that PMDG has. Individually we all have credibility, but not as a team yet. XP devs MUST provide not only top quality over FSX counterparts....but repeatable quality. If developers do that for x-plane, then the migration of FSX users to products by 'native' XP devs will be seen IMO...though it will take time. X-Plane is a superior platform for customization as evidenced by what we're squeezing into our 737 vs. what FSX can not even simulate at all.....but until this is demonstrated repeatedly, FSX folks will not believe it. We have to be so convincing in our simulations that the evidence is irrefutable. PMDG should be a goal to strive for. They have a great reputation for delivering and I, for one, aspire to that. All we can do is keep producing top-quality work and let the market go where it may. TomK2 points

Have this baby in my sim for a several years now. Then the Saab 340 took most of my spare-time. Now.............. at last her is my Thai . Making my own painkit (layerfiles based on composted and edited blanks from the default liveries) first, it was quiet a job.1 point

Sorry been all over the place.......I made a claim that all updates will be free for the life of UM . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . And I am going to hold to that claim (even though its going to be a pain in the butt)1 point

This update was such a great perfomance boost. Now it is really flyable in HDR. This add-on is just so cool!! Great work! PS: Nazze is back again!1 point

+1 BTW, version 1.1 absolutely ROCKS! I finally can turn God Rays on on my computer, as well as dialing cloud drawing distance all the way up while keeping fps at their 30's John - the complimentary bottle of wine you earned (by changing my sim experience forever) is still here - let me know when you are around the Chicago area so I can drop it off1 point

I was already in that happy 40+ fps state with beautiful skies using SkyMaxx version 1 on my old i5 clunker of a PC. Now ... I'm still in that happy state with 1.1 and everything pushed a notch higher! Thanks John and Cameron ... love your work! Kris P.1 point

Guys... I think this update is huge. Im 2 minutes into my first 1.1 test flight and I had to pause to make this post. 4xFXAA+FSAA, Very High Tex settings flying in the Carenado C90.. heavy detailed cockpit. 0% visibility, pure grey out the windows using 6000 feet of cumulus sct. 30 FPS. Max SMP cloud detail and distance maxed. SMP is no longer the source of your FPS problems. God Ray test update imminent.. JohnMAXX - genius status.1 point

Something unbelievable made even more unbelievable. I've got skymaxx on fairly maxed out settings and on my 4 year old machine getting in the high 30's fps. Hdr still takes me in the single digits but I can do without. This product has just sent xplane simply to the top of flight simulating experience in a second. Thanks so much for the quick update-even more blown away now.1 point

I have received many questions every now or then abut "whats the difference between default and HD". So I decided to start a new album in my Picasa collection. This time its all about comparing: default GlobalSceneryvs. HD Mesh Scenery v2I used my little trick to capture each scene with exactly the same camera perspective (so you can easily flip back and forth between the pictures and see what happens). I have already added a few regions like, NorwayAlpsCanada, BC (man was I impressed by the extreme differences there ... its an entirely new feeling ... really)... and will continue to add a few over the coming days (all depending on my time). So, head over there, and check them out: https://picasaweb.google.com/101666907909842492197/XPlane10HDMeshSceneryV2DefaultAndHDComparisons?authuser=0&feat=directlink And if there is someone new, who does still not know whats HD Mesh Scenery v2: http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-hd-scenery-mesh-v2/1 point

I will for sure mtaxp.. hopefully sometime later today. Yea hope I can get get some brutal weather working with good FPS. Its sucks FPS bad even without SMP installed though.. I dont get it :/ These arent 1.1 yet, just a teaser. Happy learned how to putt, uh oh! (canox learned how to control the camera) Very little weather, few cumulus with SMP cloud size settings to lowest. I was mainly testing HD mesh, Swiss scenery packs and orthophotos on this flight. Livery from a French airline that sounds like an Austrian airline.. close enough to a Switz livery right? My my.. Geneva you sure are pretty but youre killin' me babe. (I blame those 40+ stupid round fuel containers on the right) Climbing through clouds with 1x.. Lust for Lausanne...1 point

I've been using Joan's stuff for some time now and it's good. However if we keep down-talking what developers bring to the table (or in this case, they're still planning to bring it to the table), it makes it even more difficult for them to get a toe hold into the X-Plane universe ... and I don't think that's a good thing. Commercial developers tend to make an environment more accessible and the product tends to be more polished and eventually more comprehensive. I like polished and comprehensive. Flightgear is free .. no need for pricey X-Plane stuff ... big WINK1 point
