  4. I've been working for a while on this video and the result sure is to be proud of if I may say. The Boeing 757 Professional is expected to be released this June (there is no specific date yet). I hope you'll all enjoy the video and will be persuaded to buy the product when it comes out.

  5. Sorry about that I misread your post. I agree the 757 is a simpler plane but I still don't trust the non navigation systems to be accurate. When the IXEG plane comes out you will see what a difference it is and in my opinion how much better the simming experience is when you fly a plane that you can grab the real life manuals and items work as they should. Their is a reason the IXEG guys and other companies like them ( PMDG, FSlabs, Majestic) take YEARS to come out with a plane.

  6. Idk, oblivion does have a converted L-1011 which looks pretty close, though I understand that you're attempting levity, it is sometimes hard to distinguish in the language of "type"

  7. Hello people, I and Benedikt Samson arranged and re-establised X-Plane Dreamteam, part of that process includes a brand new rebranding and a new image, we are now called Jetstream Aviation. It will be the sucessor of XPDT, we are here to deliver the highest quality freewares for you, and offering you the best customer service. The first project of the group will be the Md-11. That said Jetstream is a member of XPS Developers-the first developer alliance for a flightsim. The group as it is now- -Benedikt Samson -Peter Tram -Vincent Buttstedt -Jeffery Chen -Pierre Lavaux -Yianni Marcris -Jolly Defy Wong Cheers!

  12. I think PMDG would disagree with that statement. They posted months ago that the 777 is incredibly complex to simulate and that redoing the 744 ( the next airliner project) would have been easier to do first. If you correctly model the modes of the FBW system I bet that gets a bit more complex. How about even modeling the basic systems like the engine control system properly so that when you enter a assumed temp the N1 does not increase LOL. I had a engine fail on the thing and my other engine was stuck in derated mode because EEC alt mode is not simulated. You could never use the QRH with this plane... I tried on a engine failure after takeoff. The sounds... The gear sounds and apu and flaps are WAY WAY WAY over done, they sound in the cockpit as if you are outside the plane. To me that kills the immersion. Also whats up with the taxi light that does not turn with the nose gear. This is a 80 dollar plane. Waiting for the IXEG plane... Until then I will enjoy the lovely majestic Q400 I just got for FSX... I am not spending anymore of my money on planes from R+P in my opinion the 777 was on the level of captain sim, with the R+P plane being better than a CS plane in the navigation system and how routes are drawn on the ND ( BTW I have to give credit there.. that is well done) The reason for my comparison to CS is to me they have the same philosophy, pump em out fast, recycle the systems

  15. I have the 777 which has IMO great systems modelling. The immersion factor is not so great however with outward appearance, cockpit modelling, fan blades, sounds etc etc etc not good enough for the money (the CRJ has much better immersion in that regard). I won't be buying the 757 until the 777 is updated to address the issues I mentioned - the developer has been made aware of all these issues by many posters on the org site which is why I am somewhat surprised it appears they have already 'moved on'. The team needs to engage someone who can help with the aesthetics side of things!

  20. Cycle views has never been in X-Plane, but zoom in/out is. Simply go to the joystick settings, then click the 'Buttons: Adv' tab. Hit the button on your joystick you would like to assign something to, then hit the radio button that says 'general/'. You will then see various options for zoom. Can't say I've ever used a gamepad with X-Plane, but I can't think of any logical big reason why it wouldn't work unless the gamepad is registering as a button click in an awkward way. With a joystick hat switch the pan is very smooth. Sure you can. Press 'Q' or 'E' when in 2D, or use the arrow keys to pan sections of a large 2D panel if it's not all in view. That's a baffling statement. Are you using some old aircraft? Check out the new default planes like the Baron, Kingair, 747, etc to see what 3D cockpits look like. You can see other examples of images taken in 3D cockpit mode on our Saab project here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/4189-saab-340a-cockpit-preview-december-10-2012/ You surely must be using an aircraft not intended to have a 3D cockpit then. You can certainly assign this type of stuff already using the button advanced section of the joystick. It's a matter of finding the datarefs you want to assign to buttons. Otherwise, just use the keyboard. Use '<' for moving backwards, '>' to move forward, use either with shift held down and this will produce faster movement. Do this in 3D cockpit mode (Shift 9) or in exterior (Shift 4) mode. Again, use 'q' or 'e' in the 3D cockpit mode to "walk" right or left. As said, already exists. Use 'q' or 'e'. It's a new platform for you and you're just going to need a little time to warm up to it. It's not unlike a lot else, and with flight sims you take what you can get.

  21. A lot of these factors can be addressed by modifying your settings in XP. As for the VC stuff, having been a former flightgearer, I can vouch for the fact that these cockpits are much nicer.

  22. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This makes me a very happy man!!! I still do most of my flying in 9.7 even though I have V10 and keep it updated. The changes to the views controls still irritates and frustrates me to no end. 9.7 for me is still a much more pleasing experience.

  23. A: You've got the wrong model in mind, this was a very safe airframe, even the first Comet's were incredibly safe, they just suffered from metal fatigue and pressurization cycle issues. B: It's not funny in any way to poke fun at the tragic losses of life, and airframe that occurred.

  24. Thanks to Philipp posting these dataref's, I built my first test panel box. Here's a quick rundown. I purchased a GP-Eiz40 MAX Usb Controller, a project box and a bunch of single-pole double throw switches, LED's and pushbutton's with LED's in them. The goal was to try and build a few of the most common overhead panel buttons such as the APU buttons, 10th stage APU/LCV, ISOL and so on. Having a little background in electronics (it's been years), I was able to simulate most of what I wanted. Although my project box wasn't big enough to hold everything I wanted, such as the Packs, I was able to get most of the big ticket items. The hardest part was trying to figure out what xjoymap and button2dataref was and the relationship between them. Being a former MSFS fanatic, X-Plane is fairly new to me. I did have a few issues with the Hydraulic buttons. Switch 1, 3B and 2 where initially backwards. For example, when throwing the switch to the ON position ( 1 ), those three switches would not throw correctly. I finally figured it out and that's for another post. If anyone is interested, I can post what my button2dataref config looks like. The other issue I had is the landing lights. For the life of me I can't find any reference to the three landing lights (Left, Center and Right). It's an all or nothing which forced me to abandon that idea and reprogram my landing lights switches to Nav, Beacon and Strobe. I also couldn't find a dataref for Logo lights either. If anyone is interested in what parts I used, feel free to reply. It was a fun project and I plan on expanding this idea. Here's a quick 30 second video of it: and I'm also attaching a few pictures.
