  2. Been kinda quiet around here, let's stir the pot a bit First off, A brand new paint for the updated 787, not by Elanport, but rather, by Matthew Huerta! he's a genius in the making and this livery shows it, i literally had a hard time discerning this plane from a real photo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWiKdZDnLI8&feature=youtu.be and now a video of the new EICAS being built! Merry christmas

  3. Then you have a work around and should be happy. For those that DO appreciate a more true experience, they can have it just as it already exists.

  4. No Mayan text has ever referred to the end of the world at the end of their calendar. It is the end of the current long count which began in 3114 BC. The equator of the Milky Way galaxy (Galactic Equator) and the path of the Sun (the Ecliptic) cross each other at exactly 11:11 am GMT on December 21, 2012. The Sun on the solstice will be almost perfectly aligned with the plane of the galaxy (the Milky Way galaxy). This precession of the equinoxes goes in a complete circle and happens only once every 26,000 years. According to the Mayans we are entering a new age ... evolving into the shift towards a more Eastern, or spiritualist, way of life. The Western way of life, and the worship of material goods, progress, and capitalism, has accelerated its way headfirst into battles and wars for hundreds of years. it is Time to Activate & Transform.Their civilisation did not end, unless you consider the invasion and conquest by the spanish. They did not vanished or disappeared, they still live and in large numbers, they don't build pyramids any more, now they build hotels. And the picture above is NOT Mayan, is the Aztec. The Aztec Calendar even though it has similarities has significant differences. The one depicted was actually used to count the passage of time in a 360 day cycle (plus 4 days out of time which were used for meditation and cleansing). The Mayan Sacred Calendar, which is the one being referenced for the supposed end of the world (end of time for them) is a smaller version that measures cycles of nature in a 13:20 ratio, this creates a 260 day cycle which is more related to lunar and solar activity, this in conjunction with the 360+4 calendar creates a 52 years cycle (of our gregorian calendar). The Gregorian Calendar was established in 24 February 1582 and with it's institution all other calendars were only kept for religious and ceremonial purposes (like the chines and the jew calendars). Before this date most civilisations counted the cycles of time in moon cycles (13 months of 28 days) which are more acurate in measuring cycles in nature. The only thing that the gregorian calendar is accurate is to know when "pay day is"

  7. I've gotten the 727 So right off the bat, when I saw the promotional videos I knew this was going to be good. Thankfully, I was right! Download: a huge package, 700 megs! (wow) when it was done, installation was simple and easy, which I like, into my XP 10 folder and ready to go! First loading: Normally, I like to load planes into PM before I load them in XP, to check things like Wireframes and basic appearance/animations. I opened it up and fell in love. The polygon count is a little on the high side, but over all she's very efficiently modelled and beautifully textured, the resolution of which is amazing, possibly even the highest in X-plane! In XP: So now that I was confident that my poor macbook could handle the pressures of loading the plane, I set up my XP 10 and got ready for the action. First thing I noticed, was that it was quite laggy. I went into exterior view and the plane gave me a perfect arpeggio in F as it lagged to a start. after about 15 seconds of that, the frame rates suddenly shot to 30-40 frames per second, which was a nice surprise. Exterior quality of the plane is superb, and the animations are smooth as butter. I decided it was time to check the cockpit. My memory of this time is slightly foggy, because I'm quite sure I passed out from the awesomeness. After wiping the drool from my laptop, I had a look around. I was a bit dissappointed that there wasn't a cabin, but the detail of the cockpit long makes up for it. After using their custom made loading panel to load my plane, I started flying! She's definitely harder to fly than my 787s or 767s, partially because of quality, and partially because of age. I will have to comb through the manuals to fully understand this bad girl. Again, many of her animations are amazing, I particularly like their wingflex. The sounds are very FSXish in a good way, they are very well crafted and sound amazing. The cherry on top for me was the nose gear. THEY ACTUALLY GOT THE TURNING MOTION CORRECT! A lot of modellers seem to miss this detail, and I'm actually happy they caught it. Service with a smile? well i'm definitely smiling. Criticisms: Being me, I always try to find criticisms too, but in this case, it was quite hard. I did find, however, that the slats had a tendency to slice straight through the wing on their deployment sequence, and that the reverse thrusters of engines 1 and 3 sliced through each other on deployment. The errors are very small and far between. <you can see, the flap is sort of in the way of the speed brake <here the slatis stuck in a strange way <another slat shot <reversers are stuck Aside from that, I very literally couldn't find anything wrong with the plane! Exterior = superb, Panel = superb, Sounds = superb. I am at a loss of words. Well done FlyJsim. I look forward to more from you.

  8. Ok, so most of you have probably had a run in with the control lock 'feature'. If you want to be able to just load the plane without going through the hoops you can install the xassign plugin. This creates an assignment profile that is saved in plane folder and is loaded every time. To set it up you need to: 1. Load any other plane, set up the controls as you want them for the Jestream 2. Select "Plugins - xassign - Save Global Set 1" 3. Load the Jetstream and select "Plugins - xassign - Load Global Set 1" 4. Select "Plugins - xassign - Save set 1" now you have your settings saved, and will load every time you open the plane, regardless of how you quit, or start the simulator, yay! this will create a file called "Jetstream32.acf.1.axes" located in the aircraft folder. If you ever want to change your setup you need to delete this file and then do steps 1-4 again. P.S. No offense to anyone, but I for one find this 'feature' very annoying, and in my very unprofessional opinion, considering the necessary trade-off's it is not worth simulating.

  9. One I would really like to see is an all metallic without tail number or any other markings (like out of the factory line in bare metal). I LOVE the metallic textures of The Mentor. I have tried to make all metallic or at least partial for liveries like Aeromexico or American Airlines, some were not so bad, but when I saw the metallic Mentor I was really impressed. To tell you the truth, that was the tipping point that made me decide to buy The Mentor. Only you can achieve something like that. I know that at least for the time being there are no real reflexions in X-Plane, and for the awesome reflexions in the cockpit you had probably to create an object that moves depending of the view point or something like that, and to make a shiny aluminium that reflects the clouds or blue sky, objects around the plane on the ground and such is impossible, but your textures of the T34C is the most beautiful paint I have seen in X-Plane or any other simulator. Please, please, please

  10. Great review, thanks for writing it! I can't run it because my system can't run XP10 (and I can't afford a new PC right now) so I will vicariously enjoy the aircraft through the reviews and comments from yourself and others. I have a few questions about the aircraft. What are the systems like? What proportion of the switches and dials do anything? Do you need to keep switching to the Flight Engineer's station to set fuel pumps etc to keep the aircraft flying? If you set things up wrongly, will stuff break or malfunction?

  11. Thanks dude. I saw that there really is a lack of American liveries for this aircraft, so I'm gonna do even more. I'm getting really bored with just doing the liveries with straight lines and I wanna challenge myself to do better. Those curved lines at the bottom took me a good hours to get right.

  12. Welcome to X-Pilot Wherli! I find that the caliber of the contributors here is higher - i.e. got some heavyweight developers who are regulars (Including Laminar people). It's more "boutique" in that regard. I'd call it a "High Signal to Noise Ratio" =) Likewise, less "riff raff" so to speak. It's more like a private club of enthusiasts, rather than a meeting place for the masses. Enjoy! - CK.

  13. Thanks. Raw filesize is around 9GB/minute of video (1920x1080p 25fps). I use DXTORY to do my capture. It will capture multiple sound devices (ie, speakers and mic) on different channels, which can be great in post production. I edit with Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 12.0 and output to a 1920x1080 10mbps mp4 file using a 2 pass render process. I then upload that to YT. My intention is to keep the high quality renders to burn to bluray (hence the 10mbps render).
