  1. I'm really excited by what I'm seeing with XP12...visually...though its still WIP on both my and Laminar's end. The following video shows testing of the rain effects and lighting issues. The rain effect is exaggerated in this video for purposes of testing...so the 'deluge' on the window is more than the sky is putting out. Also...the lighting between night/day...specifically through dusk/dawn isn't quite up to speed. Laminar is aware and as mentioned earlier...on their list at some point to evalute and hopefully tweak. In the following video of the rain effect...I also use the K/L keys to cycle through the time of day.....to just before and after sunset...and you can see how the lighting intensity is still needing some Laminar love....BUT....you can see the potential. The capture is 20fps...so the video looks a bit rougher than what I'm seeing on my end. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0y23n1th42r9b7i/rain_effects.mp4?dl=0 TK

  2. Just an FYI for anyone interested.... just an example of some of the things the port process to XP12 entails...not just for me, but all devs. This image shows illuminated surfaces both at night and during the daytime. If you set these levels to look normal during the day, then they're currently a bit "blown out" at night. If you set them to look good at night, they look washed out..darn near off during the day. For myself...I have a way to code around this for all illuminated stuffs; however....because XP12 is in a public beta...there's a good chance this will get tweaked at some point in the near future..but of course this is just one issue amongst many issue being handled by Laminar. Tweaking the brightness of each of these elements takes a bit of time..and of course you have to check them in the sim....so when things change on Laminar's end, its causes another "round of tweaks" to be made. If I make my own tweaks in code to make these look more correct....then such changes would probably be nullified by any changes Laminar makes and cause me to have to "go back and change" all the stuff yet again. So the protocol is to "report it" and let the item wait its turn in Laminar's work queue. ...doesn't mean I can't work on liveries...or other special effects in the meantime....but just an FYI about the nature of the public beta and how us devs have to wait before we can make the changes we need to. -TK

  3. Again, that's a problem on your end. For you to come in here and start this discussion how you did was wrong. You could have just as easily stated you were concerned you didn't have any replies rather than suggesting we ignore people. We don't. I have proof of that as shown above. You will need to post a log of the C172 G5. This log shows you have clearly installed the G500 wrong. You placed the plugin in the X-Plane plugins folder: C:\X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/rsg_g500/win_x64/rsg_g500.xpl See the following install guide: https://help.realsimgear.com/en/articles/5779377-g5-g500-installation-into-other-aircraft You will need to delete: C:\X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/rsg_g500

Based on real world CL650 OY-LLG operated by Sun-Air. I had to take some creative liberties with the cheatline as it did not fit 100% on the model as per the real airframe and I couldn't get the line to intersect the nose, cabin door, overwing exit and APU area closely to the real airframe without it - I hope the end result is ok! The registration CANNOT be changed due to limitation of this airframe having a wing registration so I opted not to use the built-in registration feature and painted the registration on the livery itself. NOTE: Painted for XP12's new lighting engine - NOT tested in XP11. Appearance may be unsatisfactory in XP11 Features: Custom airframe-specific placards Adjusted AO layers Custom cabin interior based on real airframe with custom carpet normal maps Not to be distributed or copied without explicit permission.

  5. Nope, but this is the forum it'll be posted to when there is.

  6. Forgive me if this has already been asked - I searched and did not see it anywhere... What is the status of the CL650 (as far as compatibility) with X-Plane 12? I'm in the process of crossing over, and fly this plane almost exclusively and was wondering... If anyone could point me to to some resources (a video would be excellent) that would be great... Thanks, //sse

  8. Scenario 2, part B and C : That’s VNav doing what it’s supposed to do. Either turn it off, or clear the constraint. Use VS or FLC. Scenario 3. Easiest to use FLC at high altitudes, then VS to manage the descent profile accurately at lower altitude. Remember VNav on the 650 is a “modifier”, not a mode like it is on a Boeing. So with VNAV turned on you get VFLC and VVS. Without it you have FLC and VS. The only difference is VFLC and VVS will obey any magenta altitude constraints shown on the PFD, as well as the blue altitude constraint. Hope that makes sense?
