  1. I can't really comment on the reflections, but i feel like i have to recommend the flyjsim 732 to you. Back in the FS days i used to fly complex airliners only. The likes of PMDG, LevelD etc. While X-Plane still lacks sophisticated airliners (FF, JarDesign etc. aren't close yet, sorry), surprisingly the 727 along with it's smaller brother - the 737-200 - are planes i find myself spending most of the time with. They don't do proper engine simulation (EPR) nor have any kind of RNAV equipment installed (FMS, GPS), but still do feel most complete. Just yesterday i've "lost" half an hour calculating the weights and required fuel for 727-200F before i took her from Rovaniemi, Finland [EFRO] to Szczecin, Poland [EPSC]. And it was fun! FlyJSim 727 is a fantastic plane and the 737 is even better. And they are gorgeous by the way

  4. That's true, X-Plane is not able to show reflections on aircraft. Some suggested that Laminar should implement it like it was done in FSX (i.e. a fake reflection map, where nearly nobody notices that it's fake ...), but IIRC Ben somewhere said if they ever make reflections, they want to do it better. Sometimes I wish for more pragmatism...

  5. A quick update first: On Tuesday, my partner will be sending me the files to get work started on Molokai. I should be mostly done Lanai by that time. I am still experimenting with forests, but I expect that the initial release of Lanai will not include forests, perhaps trees along the coastlines to add some depth but the actual forests would take away from the flying experience. ATTR_LOD has given me something to work with, but it still looks a little weird. Colour matching forests to the trees in the orthophotos is important... and almost impossible. Anyways, here's a screenshot of an early morning landing.

  6. from http://developer.x-plane.com/?article=obj8-file-format-specification Above is for *.obj file. If you use *.for, try http://developer.x-plane.com/?article=forest-for-file-format-specification

  7. I guess I may as well let you guys know. A few months ago, Theo approached me to let me know he wanted to go to university. I have always been a huge fan of education, and I would never stand in the way of someone wanting to further theirs. However, along with his regular job, this also meant he wouldn't be able to dedicate any time to add on development. So as hard as it was to have him leave, I had to respect his decision. This meant we were stuck without a texturer. Some names were thrown around, but in the end, I decided to start learning how to texture my own 3D mesh. This has not delayed anything because Jim is still coding systems, and he probably won't finish coding before I finish modeling and texturing. I pretty much picked up texturing within the first 2-3 weeks of starting, and we now have a re-textured Fire Tray (Under the glareshield. I had to remodel it from new, close up photos), new gauges (they had a few issues) and I'm also adding a few fixes and new mesh, that will have to be mapped and baked, to the panel. Regarding Theo's decision...it wasn't out of any kind negativity. There were no fights, arguments or disagreements. He just wanted to further his education, and it is a decision I respect. Any news? Yes. It will DEFINITELY be out some time AFTER this coming Monday. Just don't know what day.

  8. Thanks - some of those ideas are already in the works, but I'll have to leave you guessing on which ones for now
