  2. Thanks Kris/mike....but I don't have my thumbprint on this flight model, its all Morten and the rest of the team and I have to say, it really is winning me over. I've never been much of a "heavy" enthusiast, but this thing does kind of feel "uncanny" in its flying qualities...very surreal, which is the whole point. The goal for us is to just go after reality period...not any one thing the like the systems, visuals, flight model etc, but whatever your eyes and ears take in (sorry, no smells, touch or taste yet) whatever you take it with your eyes and ears...how a needle moves, how something sounds, what the light looks like, etc and of course the systems and physics dictates all that stuff so if we wanted to achieve it at the sensory level, we had to start at the lowest level....all we really want is to simply feel like we're at the controls of a real 737-300....as much as we practically can anyhow. Reality is a tough hombre to catch though and a never ending chase so there will always be something more to chase. TomK

  3. Hello everyone. I've been saving and struggling for more than two years with my old laptop rubbish thing, which I play X-Plane on as well as DCS and other sims. One week ago, I finally succeed to reach a great amount to afford a whole new gear. I should receive everything later this week. Here are the components : -Corsair Enthusiast Series Modular TX850M - Alimentation - 850 W - Semi-modulaire - Certifiée 80 PLUS Bronze - Asus ROG Rampage IV Extreme X79 - Carte mère - Socket 2011 - E-ATX - Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 - Radiateur processeur - Ventilateurs 140mm - Intel 520 Series (SSDSC2CW180A310) - SSD 180 Go - LiteOn iHBS112 (IHBS112-115 2) - Lecteur/Graveur Blu-ray -c- - G.Skill TridentX F3-2400C10Q-32GTX (4x8Go, 2400 MHz, DDR3) - Mémoire PC - Cooler Master Storm STRYKER (SGC-5000W-KWN1) - Boitier - Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EZEX - Disque dur 1 To -c- - Asus VG278HE - Écran LED 27" 3D, 144 Hz - Intel Core i7 3970X Extreme Edition - Processeur - GTX Titan AMP! Edition 6GO - Logitech Illuminated Keyboard - Clavier rétroéclairé - Microsoft - Windows 7 Edition Professionnelle 64 Bits SP1 - Logitech Speaker System Z906 - Système multimédia de haut-parleurs stéréo 5.1 (Son Surround certifié THX) - 500 Watts (RMS) - Avec télécommande sans-fil - Noir | - Track IR V5 As you can see, this is more or less the most powerful components available today, yet it's not latest ones. I will post pictures of the thing all throighout the built and of course, the most interesting for us, the results in X-Plane 10. Some says the Titan is obsolete because it's CPU limited... that's why I took the most powerful CPU around, some says the I7 3970X will be obsolete because it's GPU limited... that's why I took the Titan AMP ! Edition ( boosted to death, single GPU ) etc etc. So, I really hope to max everything out in X-Plane, DCS World, ArmA III etc with 60+ FPS and have great rendering times in Blender. I'm also doing Computer Assisted Music ( Guitar, Keyboard ... ) this explaining the really great Z906 system, with a M-Audio Fast Track I already use for years. As I'll have a big screen, I thought it would be clever to get the Track IR ( useless with my current 15" laptop screen ) Regarding Hardware, I already have the Thrustmaster Warthog, with the long stick mod ( for better control around all travel ), and Saitek Combat Pedals.

  4. Interesting, and it gels with stuff I have heard/read as well. I talked to a few jet pilots (73/76/74) and one thing I came away with was the importance of airspeed. It's kind of the king of everything when flying because without enough of it, you stop flying and start falling. But it does seem that some airlines almost 'untrain' that rule from their pilots instincts by mandating automation and lowering its importance. So the pilots might have been doing what they had been trained to do, but really, the whole reason behind having a human up the front is to take care of situations that cannot be automated, and in that, it's seems that they and their training have failed rather badly. If indeed that is what happened!

  5. Per these reviews, it looks pretty good. The V2 is definitely better than the first version of the TX750.

  6. I had this problem for a while and freaked out! I just went back to an earlier beta of WED. Very concerning at the time though!

  7. Alright. Some new information. I talked to a former 777 captain and he explained a bit what the cause was. So the approach was a noise reduction approach to not disturb the people of San Francisco. The 777 came in very steep and had to make various turns to get lined up with the runway. The approach was full manual except the speed. The instructor armed the auto-throttle at about 1000ft in descent. Normally the armed auto-throttle would engage when the plane catches the glideslope. But at this time the ILS system was turned of at KSFO. Now the pilots didn't look at the speed anymore because they thought that the auto-throttle would control it. They were also too concentrated on lining up the 777 with the runway. 35 seconds prior to impact they noticed that they were to low and to slow. By that time you could have managed the situation by pushing the throttle levers to full thrust. But again they were not really paying attention that the plane was already under the estimated touchdown speed. By the time they really put in thrust it was already too late to catch the airplane again. Another feature of the 777 is that when the speed is too low the 777 automatically pushes down the nose when the auto-throttle is not engaged. That caused the airplane to descent even faster and hit the seawall. So the conclusion is that the pilots had just to push the engage button for the auto-throttle and the problem is solved. Asian airline pilots are trained to fly only with the autopilot. This is a procedure to save time and to save money. But when a lot of little problems come together you can sometimes loose track of something that is very important. The same thing we saw with the Turkish airlines 737 crash at Amsterdam. Or the lion air crash 2 months ago. It's still a pilot error but we have also to look at the circumstances the pilots were in. I hope this is a bit more information then you knew.

  8. I think the IXEG 737 will be the level of aircraft/systems fidelity against which all future planes will be compared ... the pièce de résistance ... for those who hunger for hi-fidelity (and I definitely do!). I'm really looking forward to experiencing how the IXEG 737 flies. Even though it's a totally different type of aircraft (and I know it's a team effort), but Tom has such a solid pedigree in how his aircraft feel IMO; the Moo and the default C90B ... simply the best feeling of flight ... they're just so bloomin' fluid!

  9. It might have been funny had no one been hurt in the accident, but now it simply shows a lack of respect for those injured and lost.

  10. That is why I am so excited for this add-on. We don't have ANYTHING like this for x-plane

  17. KBTR-TNCM Departure Forgot to take many enroute shots, so here is the beautiful 1/2 island of Saint Maarten. Touchdown! Turnabout... And parking! Like for perfect parking? Airport was TNCM that I converted from FlyTampa a while ago, just remembered that I had that one. Nice 2-3 hour flight!
