  1. Hmmm, so if I’m reading this correctly - I started out on the 737 (300/400/500) as a copilot, then transitioned to the 747-400, flew that for 6 years, then became a captain in 2008 on the 737 (300/500). I flew that until about a year ago, when I was involuntarily transitioned to the Airbus A320 family (319/320/321) because the 737 classic is getting phased out at my airline. It seems that we can hope for an IXEG 747 and A320! A man can dream…

  3. You realize you're replying to a quote made in November of 2012, close to when 64-bit first came out, right? Aside from PilotEdge, are there even ANY online flying plug-ins for VATSIM or IVAO that are even 64-bit? I'm not aware of any. The baby arrived weeks ago. Ben has a ton of drive and continues to work on Gizmo daily, which is rather impressive given the circumstances.

  4. Can I get you anything to go with your melodrama? Of course you'll still be able to 'fly'. Just not with aircraft developed only for v.10. It's not like everything you're flying now will suddenly vanish into thin air.

  6. I got into rFactor a few years ago. It is only for Windows, so I ran it on the Mac via Boot Camp. The physics was less convincing than Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series, but what attracted me were the add-ons, like the Le Mans 24 circuit with choices of 1972 or 1991 layout and scenery, and cars of all ages and types. However, driving a simulator can not match the sensations of driving a car. Not remotely. It doesn't mean they're not useful to someone learning circuits, as flight simulators are useful to someone learning instruments and navigation. I often have this in mind when reading luke-warm comments from real pilots about X-Plane or FSX. Ignoring the 2D screen and lack of g-forces, which is a handicap for all desktop simulators currently, my greatest criticism of most driving simulators, including rFactor, is the amount of work one has to do to keep it in a straight line. In the end, once the novelty of all the fabulous and beautiful cars and scenery had worn off, my interest waned. Even so, I would certainly recommend it for anyone who enjoys driving simulators, because it is the best of its kind. Guy.
