I thought that the update was supposed to be before Christmas, also are they sending out pre releases yet

No, there was no official date or promise made.

We will not be shipping pre-release copies.

And if I may add my 2-cents worth... that is a smart policy. So many developers (including XPlane/Laminar Research) lately are issuing incomplete "beta" products, thus turning their paying customers into unpaid testers for products still in development. I much prefer to be patient and wait until all, or most, or the bugs are ironed out and the product works according to the developer's plan. There will still be tweaks and adjustments but that way the customer is assured of getting something reasonably close to what they paid for.

Looking forward to the XP12 release.  This was one of my favorite aircraft in XP11.  I agree with the sentiment to not release anything until the aircraft is ready.  Good luck!

Devs aren't machines and you need to understand that every work requires time and money. coding isn't simple and fast, depends on the circustances they face during the update. XP12 recives a lot of updates in a short time and they have to adapt to this scenario. Ow, but It's an excuse? no. But this aircraft was released a long time ago and the money you payed on that was for xp11, xp12 requeires another work to be done. We need to respect people and stop bodering them, they have family and another things to take care like the most here have.

.....While I'd love to give you a specific timeline, we're diving deep into a comprehensive re-write on multiple levels to ensure the best possible experience for our users. Therefore, it's difficult to pinpoint a release date. All I can assure you is that we're committed to getting it right, rather than rushing it. Quality takes time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. It'll definitely be worth the wait.

Hi all,

Just dropping in for my annual reminder that the TBM 900 “update” is still… somewhere. Every year we get the same beautifully crafted PR message about a massive rewrite, unparalleled quality, and how it’ll “definitely be worth the wait.” At this point I think the rewrite might actually be longer than the lifespan of the real TBM.

If there’s actual progress, fantastic. If not, maybe it’s time to retire the yearly inspirational speeches and give us something concrete.

Oh, thanks! We were worried you wouldn't come back. :)

Cameron,

Glad to know my consistency matches yours.
Maybe next year we can both surprise each other.

Friendly banter aside, the lack of movement is the real concern.
If the answer hasn’t changed in years, maybe the communication strategy should.

Kind regards,
Lucian Anghel

There's plenty of movement. We'll communicate about that when we feel the time is right.

Well, it might be because development is difficult, and also because Laminar has been modifying the famous SDK, which they have completed, I believe, but it is also true that I had never expected a development to come out before, not even when I worked in a paid capacity. Maybe we are waiting for X-Plane 13 to come out, and since there was no longer a promise to release a version for the 13, we are left with that, with the unfulfilled promise of a magnificent plane that unfortunately we will no longer be able to fly except in bad versions like the MSFS one. But it flies! and it is accessible. I also fly it, sometimes, returning to XP11.

Here is a quote from an administrator at the Hot Start Discord server: "XP11 is long past EOL, it’s time to move on"  X-Aviation sold me the TBM with the promise  " Purchase today, X-Plane 12 update will be free!"  That line is still on the X-Aviation website. If the underlying software, x-plane 11, is "EOL" so is the TBM.  You guys made a commercial promise that you did not deliver on. Shameful!

I am uncertain how you interpreted that comment.

The comment was in reference to the CL650 updates, which, as you correctly noted, X-Plane 11 has reached its end of life (EOL). However, every update for the CL650 has continued to support X-Plane 11 until this point.

The TBM has remained stable in X-Plane 11 for an extended period. There have been no significant changes to the TBM in X-Plane 11, and the next update to it will only only be for X-Plane 12.

EOL signifies that a product will cease receiving updates for that platform, not that it will suddenly become inoperable. The promise is not broken.

Using your logic, as long as you do not charge for the x-plane 12 TBM update the promise is not broken.  If your argument is correct, Hot Start has an infinite amount of time to release the update.  There is an implied promise that the update will be released in a reasonable period of time.  A year might be considered reasonable, 3 1/2 years is not.

X-plane 12 was released on 12/17/2022.  On 12/20/2022 one of the principals at Hot Start published a live stream of the TBM actually flying in X-plane 12.  In that stream he said the update was going to  be a lot of work, it migh take a month or two.  It is very likely that stream had a positive effect on the TBM sales.  In the 3 1/2 years since that stream there has not been one single piece of concrete evidence that any work at all has been done on the update (a couple of photos on discord is not concrete evidence).

You’re entitled to your own opinion, but I won’t entertain your conspiracies.
