Cameron, have you ever seen how real clouds look like?

I fly about 4 days a week, have two eyes, and know how to see. I'd say the answer to that is a resounding "yes."

Or how real respect to your customers work?

This part of your post, and the part I just responded to above, make no sense to me as to why you said them in the first place. But, one more post like it with your -12 reputation on this forum will get you banned. Evidently most the people here don't agree with what you post in these forums either.

Last breath before Xenviro, all it is.

I'm sure xEnviro has the potential to be a neat product. I know nothing about it, and likely never will. Right now it means nothing to me until it's released. Your comment of "last breath" implies I would be scared by this product, but to be honest with you, their less than 100 followers on Facebook and nothing on market does not exactly have me feeling worried in the least. They need to prove themselves first. :)

If you fly 4 days a week and draw this horrible stuff, then you need to see a specialist. :)

Please, I don't give a flying fuck if you ban me, you know it very well. With your horrible work and pay for updates, you will just lose your last 12 kittens and puppies that "admire" your project.

Gosh dang you're weird, man. That was the most unprofessional posting I've ever seen from a commercial X-Plane developer..

For those unaware, this is Vasiliy Stas, the owner of Blue Sky Star Simulations...the guy who makes sound packs for JAR, CRJ-200, etc.

I would consider twice with an attitude like this. I'm going to guess the fact that xEnviro is a Russian project and he is also a Russian that this SkyMaxx Pro 4 somehow hits a sore note for him.

Public Announcement: He has been banned. I have no idea what provoked this awkward behavior, but oh well.

Which has no influence of my decision to continue to enjoy his products ;)

If he doesn't like SMP, it's not my problem.

I guess a lot is lost in text for some folks, but that goes way beyond disliking a product....

Mostly though I worry about his stability, it's scary if you think about it....poor fellow

Just my humble opinion

Quite alright for you. Maybe not so much for others. ;)

When people start getting on the offensive, it means they're intimidated by the competition.  Otherwise, they just sit back and let their work do the talking for them...if they have confidence in their own work, that is.

John can you make the beacon, nav and strobe lights reflect off the clouds as well?

We investigated that in the v3 run. The quick answer without technical reasoning is "no."

I think it would be cool too.

Are you referring to my post? In what way was it strange? Don't be afraid to be more verbose so I can understand what I did wrong and adapt.

If I was referring to your post in particular I would have mentioned you. Move on nothing to see lol.

Great to see SMP going to v 4. Looks like a very promising upgrade.

Looking very much forward to people streamin it when it gets released. After that I will consider purchasing it.

I really like SkyMaxx and I use it on every flight and will upgrade to v4 considering a nice discount you guys are offering. The performance is very good if you keep the cloud distance at about 10000, but if you go higher you will start feeling the fps drops in a really bad weather situations.

I'm not going to ask about the fps performance gain since others were already curious about this, but I do wonder about stutters. Even with RWC there are still quite heavy clouds redrawing going on just not as noticeable as without it and whenever RWC redraws stuff the CPU usage rises, for me to about 0.50 to .60, which lower's the performance and causes stutters until it's done. Sometimes it last's for a good few seconds and is especially noticeable if you have higher clouds draw distance set since redrawing are happening more often. Was/ Can anything be done about this? I can provide a video if it's unclear on what I'm talking about.

Regards.

Denco, I'm not sure but I think the stutters you're describing are a side effect of the NOAA plugin updating your METAR data too often. SMP4 will change how RWC interacts with things like NOAA in a way that should reduce this.

Could be. If there are clear skies without any clouds there will be some occasional short stutter every now and then, but otherwise, I'll be at 60fps when cruising. Once there is some moderate to heavy cloudiness the problem I noticed starts appearing.

I'm going to do some test's tomorrow without NOAA plugin enabled.

When you get out of school and don't have anyone to back you and a late project or a missed assignment means you get sacked and end up stacking cans at the supermarket to feed your family then you will truly understand "more reasonable".

Thanks for understanding.

Good for you if you do not have to count every penny. Seeing your arrogant behavour towards everybody making a point towards the pricing makes me wonder why you dont jus't donate towards cameron or the community so that every flight sim enthusiast, even the once with small pockets, can get their hands on this product?

I could start a rant now how almost every x-plane dev has failed for years to understand the flight sim market economies and dynamics and their potential for x-plane but i decided this is not the right place. You can get an idea if you listen to the comments made by Reed Stough (Dovetail Games) or Mathijs Kok (CEO, Aerosoft) during the last two years flight sim conferences.

I understand people are complaining about the pricing policy. SMP1 40$? + SMP2 20$ + SMP3 20 $ + RWC 20$ + SMP 20$ = 120$

I personally did not buy SMP1 because of what i read about it looked too much alpha-banana-software. I joined at SMP2 and felt it was still beta. For that reason and the performance disadvantage i left it disabled over 50% of my flight time. SMP3 in cojunction with RWC finally could remotely reach the quality of addons like ActiveSkyEvolution or Opus. I also paid for Updates to Active Sky2012 and ActiveSkyNext (total sum spent for ActiveSky=100$). Do i need to compare ASN to SMP4 in terms of features and quality? Now ask yourself why so many people are still sticking with P3D/FSX instead of joining x-plane and why you are not gaining this piece of the customer cake. I tell you, it is not solely the quality of addons.

I won't double what Vasily said but still have to admit that he had a point with the cloud design. SMP clouds compared to what i see when i look outside of the window (and that also quite often is the window of an airplane) or what i see in xenviro preview are behind in terms of colouring, diversity, spread, shape and size.

Regarding Vasily, let me add that i found it quite hillarious how he complained about Maxx-XP demanding money for upgrades but just announced that he will have the same model with x-enviro. Sad that this piece of promising software is being developed by this kind of guy. I am afraid he will loose the competition before it has even started and in the end we all loose because there is no competition.

Finally, i still appreciate the work of Maxx-XP and probably will also support and credit their ongoing efforts by upgrading to SMP4 because it is an enhanced experience in terms of eye candy and finally seems to even deliver significantly improved performance over x-planes built in clouds (fingers crossed). As a suggestion with regards to what kjhkent, samgab and airfrancepilote said about your "loyal" cutomers and supporters maybe think of adding an extra 5+% discount for customers that are already here since Version 1/2.

One final hint. If you want customers to continue feeding back start moderating, stop administrating. Moderating, censoring and banning have nothing in common.
