As much as I can understand the wish for some update to this feature or that - if someone wants "a flight model update" it makes me think he just wants an update because updates are cool (and perceived as additional value). Something that is fine does not need an update.4 points

Unfortunately any time that X-Plane does the "loading flight" screen it resets the livery to whatever you selected on the initial flight configuration. You could consider reporting that as a bug to LR. *shrug* I would sometimes do this so I wrote a script to maintain the time at which I paused the sim when resuming. https://github.com/pilsnerish/FlyWithLua-Scripts/blob/main/PauseResume.lua2 points

Yes, there are quite a few parameters to be met for an autoland approach to be legal (and safe), I think the crosswind limit was like 10 kts (it goes down with decreasing RVR). The 737´s autopilots have no access to the rudder, so it can not "decrab" or "sideslip" to counter crosswinds. It can also not maintain the centerline after touchdown (rollout), so all it does is fly you to touchdown (in full crab) and then the pilot has to take over and manage the rollout. Also keep in mind that some ILS localizers in X-Plane are not very well centered on the runway, this is due to inaccurate government data on localizer direction and also a certain leeway LR allows airport designers to place their runways (iirc it´s "within 5 meters" of the official runway end coordinate).2 points

Still no new for the XP12 and specifically 12.3.1 upgrade ? at least now we can expect the new real weather wx radar ;-) For turbine fan, in addition of the XP12 EPIC1000 and PC12, a Piper M500 XP12 should be released rather soon2 points

I suppose I should demonstrate some form of life. I'll have to get with Jan on that as our radar (best I recall) had most of the features of the real thing. As far as "coming out soon", here's what I'll say....and this is overdue for sure....and I'm not going to convince anyone to believe me or not on the timing. It will get looked at and updated at some point. As sure as this is my 20th year actively involved in X-Plane work, it will continue to be so. A year and a half ago, things changed for me when Laminar announced its new store initiative in Montreal. I took a job with Laminar to completely rewrite its developer documentation. This was a "look to the future" for both myself and X-Plane, at the cost of 'now'. Laminar are looking to embrace a future generation of developers and we need to have better learning materials to engage this generation to develop for X-Plane, so I'm that guy....thats for Laminar. For myself, I needed more stability and a cushion, as the add-on market for X-Plane is still too thin to have any kind of long term security. Taking on this work with Laminar has allowed me to close out all other obligations and stay in the X-Plane ecosystem for the foreseeable future. The 'problem' for my customers and X-Aviation thus far, is that the initial phase or work to revamp and deploy the documentation was/is huge. New developer web site, new manual formats, a new, interactive PlaneMaker manual, lots and lots of rewriting, new illustrations...etc....and that has taken a good while to develop and received all my focus to get to what we call the "initial deployment" of the docs out the door. That initial deploy is not terribly far off. After the initial deployment, I will settle into a more regular time schedule that will afford me the time to get back to my own work. It has been my effort over the last year to try and achieve a point where I can only work on X-Plane endeavors between now and my retirment......and there have been personal hurdles along the way that are neither anyone's concern or business, but real to me just the same. It is my intention to crack open the MU2 and 737 again in early October, to resume work on my 'X-Aviation' things. I have discussed this with X-Aviation also. Between now and then I am focused on getting an initial deployment of the new docs out the door for Laminar. We will look at the IXEG radar early on for sure. I want to remain developing for X-Plane fully and it is my firm belief that this path i've taken was the required path to do so, and I apologize for the silence and delays. -tkyler2 points

Is there meant to be a discrepancy between the brightness of the cockpit screens and the pop-out ones? It makes reading difficult without excessively fiddling around with brightness controls. (And of course this screenshot shows the now regular issue of the hydraulic summary having gone crazy). Maps in particular are very difficult to read at times. I find brightness of displays/lighting quite a challenge to manage in general compared to other aircraft. The overhead panel lights on bright look like the aurora borealis. I'm sure some of this is X-Plane.1 point

@Vanadeo I just flew a pattern at TXKF with about 50 tons of weight (just under max landing weight), using flaps 40 and autobrake 3 for landing. The Vref was 131 and the Vtgt was 136 (no wind). On the replay it looks like the autobrake was disarmed at landing, but this was due to it being replay... I don´t feel that the nosewheel is coming down hard at all - if you are using autobrakes, the deceleration (especially at higher settings) sets in almost instantly and the resultant deceleration force will make the plane pitch down (like a car slamming the brakes also pitches down).1 point

SimHeaven has recently launched their highly regarded X-World America scenery for X-Plane 12. This comprehensive package, available for download, occupies a size of 7.4 GB and expands to 13.8 GB when extracted. The announcement was made through a post on their website, where they highlighted the following: The X-World series, which includes popular sceneries like X-Europe, X-America, and more, continues its success in X-Plane 12. Unlike traditional autogen rules, SimHeaven adopts a different approach by utilizing OSM (OpenStreetMap) data along with Microsoft building footprints to accurately place objects in the scenery. This meticulous method results in a more realistic and immersive look and feel, enhancing the overall visual experience for users. SimHeaven's X-World America scenery offers a vast coverage of the American continent, enriching the virtual flying experience with detailed and accurate representations of various locations. By incorporating real-world data, the scenery provides a heightened level of authenticity, capturing the essence of the American landscape.1 point

It doesn't warrant an update? I think it absolutely does. Other aircraft have had an operational weather radar for some time now, but it's been missing from the CL650 - one of the most expensive aircraft addons available. I rarely fly the CL650 now because it is missing Wx Radar. It's a great aircraft, but incomplete since it's missing critical functionality. I routinely receive updates for other expensive aircraft addons ive purchased, but not a single update has been released for the CL650 and I've owned it for 5 months now.1 point

I second that 100% ! What has been done about the new weather radar helps a lot to avoid TS and severe Turb (it was already the case with some addons before but now as a matter of fact (even if we are still in beta), it is much more accurate in terms of depiction in the skies, especially by night, it helped me twice to avoid huge cell TSRA, one flying the FF772 last update LFPO/SOCA and the other, flying the Baron 58/REP VFR ) I also recall that I've been stuck in TS/severe icing condition by night flying the CL650 and I almost crashed before regaining control of the aircraft 8000 ft below LFPQ/ENSR IVAO , a MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY was sent out to the ATC, no radar on board, the great CL650, now grounded, lost its certification based on BEA investigations "Violation of safety regulations " Shame on me! I tried to accuse @Cameron but his lawyers were stronger than mine, far enough! Otherwise I entirely understand that it is a complex addon which deserves more time to make that new weather radar fully functional, so I'll be patient! Can't wait, keep up the good work devs! All my support!1 point

I don't really want to sound like a broken record, but it is getting worked on. We've been working on the 650 and the TBM, with Saso trying to get as much of the 650 updates done as possible for V1.8. Now that 1.8 is out, we can both dedicate more time to the TBM, and finally get that wrapped up as quickly as possible.1 point

Sorry. I hope you can find some happiness in the other 490 changes in this update while you wait for that specific update.1 point

The Challenger can be hard work on the approach and landing, but when it all comes together it's very rewarding. All the beta testers had difficulty learning how to land, it's all part of the fun. On approach be aware that unlike aircraft like the 737, the pitch response to power is reversed, that means a power increase will see the aircraft pitch down for a moment. This can lead to an oscillation developing, so be sure to fly the pitch attitude accurately. If you find you're wobbling up and down, aim to make smooth power changes, and remember the HUD flight path vector is useful tool, but can get you into trouble too. A useful check is 0.6 on the AoA index on approach. If it's higher than that, you're too slow. Remember Vref +5, and check your weights on the approach ref page. For the landing flare, lift the nose to to arrest the rate of descent, starting at just below 40 ft. Make a smooth power reduction and fly the aircraft onto the runway. The pitch attitude in the flare is around 3 degrees, but look at the end of the runway, not the HUD! You'll have plenty of time for butter later, so for now put the aircraft down positively in the touchdown zone. If you go butter hunting, you'll only find little bounces - ask me how I know! Once you've landed, extend the flight spoilers (the ground spoilers are automatic, but the flight spoilers need to be raised by pulling the lever), use the reversers and you're down. And stay away from that HLIS button, it'll trick you into making your landings worse!1 point

Hello All! I had help from Real Simgear and the solution is: You need to set all screens in X-Plane as 2d panel ( for G1000 and MD302 ), so this way that gauges will load in that screens. Fly safe my friend! Jean from Macbare Cockpits in Brazil.1 point

Geo Reality Design has recently launched version 2 of its Global Forests addon for X-Plane 12, aimed at enhancing the immersive experience of the simulator by revamping and enriching X-Plane's vegetation. Global Forests 2 covers three major regions: Europe, North America, and Asia-Oceania. This updated version seamlessly integrates with Ortho4XP, terrain, and X-Plane 12's seasonal variations, offering a comprehensive solution for enhancing the environment. The Global Forests v2 addon employs over 400 .for files, which leverage various tree types, vegetation, and density data. By utilizing real-world information, such as vegetation height and density derived from global map data, the addon creates a vibrant and dynamic world, appealing particularly to bush pilots and users who seek a heightened level of realism. The addon's ability to provide a living world feel based on real-world data adds a new dimension to the simulation experience. Global Forests v2 is available for purchase on the X-Plane.ORG store for $15.00. For a more in-depth look at the addon and to see additional footage, viewers can check out the video available on Geo Reality Design's YouTube page.1 point

ATC may not like being told to be quiet. ATS can remain on and it will automatically pull back at around 50ft as you pull back.1 point

It’s not a manual, but I’ve addressed the fuelling stuff and basic FBO interaction in my first video, which shows the initial procedures, up to the point you’d transfer to the simulated FO. 25 minutes or so that should help any new 650 driver get started, further videos will follow too.1 point

I would really like to see a user manual that elaborates on some non-aircraft specific features, like the HotStart FBO and such.1 point
-
I'm guessing they want people to pay big bucks for those who use the manuals for training or official flight use? I find it hard to think that someone who is completely unfamiliar with the airframe to know it in and out from just the provided manuals. Hotstart has made a wonderfully complex aircraft here. If any aircraft for X-Plane has ever deserved a full on manual, it's this one.1 point
