  1. sounds like its coming out shortly! based on mortons comment

  2. I don't get the point of this conversation. How do you want to fly? As a pilot or a passenger? If wing flex is so important, there are some add-on aircrafts out there with it but without the cockpit immersion this will offer... I won't care to sit and stare at the window while there is so much to do: the FMC is awesome and very complete, the panels, checklists, monitor radios, pressurization, electrical info... Ufff so much to do! If they want to add it later, it will be a nice detail, but personally I will rarely look at it. I think the 0,04% you think is missing is what we say in spanish: te estas ahogando en un vaso de agua. (You are drowning in a glass of water) Enjoy the product as it will be released, I think this will be THE BENCHMARK for future experiences in X-Plane, so take command, call V1, ROTATE and enjoy your flight!

  3. Hi All, We've posted another video demonstrating some of the VNAV features during the climb phase. There are many different ways to control/affect the aircraft's vertical progress, including flaps, restrictions on speed and/or altitude and the MCP altitude knob. Follow along with Jan as he explains some of the features of the climb phase.

  4. I think every native FSX guy who is missing the scroll wheel support should try out a X-Plane addon with a good grab 'n drag mouse interface. Dreamfoils Bell 407 is a good example and I personally never use their implemented scroll wheel interface. Why? Firstly, it interferes with the zoom function of X-Plane if your are not precisely point the mouse over the appropriate clickspot or the viewing direction moves during maneuvers. And secondly, I found it to be more "realistic", since the dragging movement is detentless when dialing up analogue instruments (barometer setting for example). I grew up with MS Flightsim and really don't miss the scroll wheel for that matter. However, the interface of most default planes in X-Plane is a PITA. On a side note, wing flex is obsolete for my taste...

  5. Personally, I fly the plane from the cockpit, not from seat 10a staring at a wing that might occasionally flex. If I made money from Youtube or Twitch videos it might be different, but I want a totally immersive cockpit, jumping out of that to watch the wings totally breaks that immersion.

  6. For an average x-plane aircraft one buys and tries out for a month or two? Yes. For probably the most advanced simulated aircraft for x-plane ever, developed during half a decade, modelling virtually every possible instrument and behaviour of the plane and where extreme precision have been taken to visually mimic every aspect of the physical plane? No. High quality modelling of wing flex for an aircraft in the highest rang, as I see it, should be one of the top priorities when it comes to visuals. Just because some simmers may be 100% interested in the instruments does not automatically mean we do not at all need a 3d model. Visuals, as well as physics and instrumentation all sums up and makes a good simulation. As more stuff is cut off from the model, the model itself becomes less equivalent to the real-to-life aircraft. IXEG have already modelled details in the simulation that most probably will not be seen/experienced by 99,95% of simmers. But they do this to make the perfect simulation. Having this in mind, I see no logical argument to - when the time is right and all other coding-critical aspects have been addressed - make an as immerse simulation of wing flex, to add to the already 99,9% complete simulated aircraft.

  7. That looks amazing, congratulations!

  8. Been there doing that I'm after better systems integration. ~FJS732 is good but lacking in systems is driving nuts. Sounds leave allot to be desired as well. Here is a pic of my current sim, this is why I had hoped the steam 737-300 would be made

  9. Good question! We will not have the hold page up yet...where you can enter holds wherever you want. Neither will we have procedural hold entry paths drawn (in magenta). That, of course, requires a bit of work depending upon your entry angle. Also, we do not have "abeam points" implemented. We have all the infrastructure in place to implement it...just not enough time. Um....what else......we do not have an 'offset path'. That is more common on oceanic routes and so shouldn't be missed by most. I will say we have designed our code to handle most anything, so we are not in so deep that we can't address whatever a real FMS can do in the future, its just a matter of picking and choosing after 5 years. Our FMS development has gone through some ups and downs (it is our first one) and we are shooting for a high level as we have some catching up to do. That being said, we are really happy with what we have so far. If Jan can conduct a flight with it as normally as he does in the real word...we're in a good spot! We are hoping to get a last video in before release that showcases the FMS features in a real world scenario (you know that Jan ALWAYS has problems on his flights). ...if you're on a Lufthansa flight and the pilot says, "Hallo, I'm your captain Jan Vogel"...get off the plane! So....I've been at it for about 14 hours today and spent the whole day programming in "flight plan loading and saving". We will be implementing our own flight plan format initially, (*.ixg) and it should be available on onlineflightplanner.org at some point. Ideally, we'd like to be able to read in multiple formats, but alas....we have to draw the line for the initial release. At the least, you can save your routes (with some limitations) and can share these text files if you like. We will be providing a "coroutes" folder that holds "company routes" flight plans for the initial release. Ok, back to it, this was just a break to blog about today's work. -tkyler

  10. I don't know. I am putting in 12 hours a day, do not have another job in sight...this is it until this thing is out! If its not December, it will be as fast as possible on the other side of the new year.....I'm not slowing down and I can not tell you at this time that it will NOT be December as we are on a very productive pace. We'll know more in a few weeks. If 5 more days past 2015 are required to add much needed stabililty, then we'll take the 5 days rather than ship a product with a known bug. We're close, moving fast and we'll let folks know in a few weeks where we are. -tkyler
