  3. Regarding racetracks ... I did a (quite simple) model of Oschersleben in Germany as you can see in the video below. But I doubt it will be ok according to todays standards ... Nevertheless - enjoy the video

  4. Hi John, I have done it that way as you have suggested. The result is really very good. It seems, that there is a high level of sychronization, maybe almost 100%, including the near fine mist-like clouds, too. However, I still would like to state it not quite in conclusion so. I'll test and chec it far under different conditions and keep you informed. Great work - awesome software. Rolf

  6. Clear Skies was a plugin used to remove the framerate enhancing fog that was used in v9. When your framerate gets too low in v9, as decided by the Minimum Frame Rate setting, fog was drawn to reduce the visibilty distance and try and improve the framerate. Clear Skies just kept overriding the fog so you still see 25 miles out, even with a low framerate. V10 works completely differently. It continues to try and draw all the way out to the visibility distance you specify. Clear Skies is irrelevant for this. What you are seeing is the blurring that is used to fade distant land masses into view. Also, it looks blurry because outside of 25 miles, texture files are used to generate the landmass you see, there is no terrain mesh out there. I think LR plan to increase the distance to which actual terrain can be seen at some point, but do't quote me. Hope that clears things up.

  7. And if you are already mapping in OSM: please don't forget that the base scenery in X-Plane (or my HD Mesh Scenery series) use road/railroad/powerline network data, water features (lakes, rivers) and coastline informations from OSM. So, if you update/add those informations, then X-Plane will benefit from that too!

  8. Gentlemen, as promised. SkyMaxx Pro, Maxx-XP and FlywithLUA scripts together. Three Stooges? Awesome combination for my taste. Judge for yourself. First two are around KASE ( Aspen , CO) and the airport is KPHL ( Philadelphia International , like nobody knew it.. ) Enjoy! Cheers, AJ

  9. The Malacca Straits have featured because the Malaysian military have apparently reported tracking MH370's flight path right across the Malay peninsula - a 90 degree left turn from it's projected course. Unfortunately conspiracy theories abound in circumstances such as these where there are limited facts. I couldn't agree more that primary radar traces should be a starting point to shed some factual, if limited, light on the aircraft's trajectory and to guide the attempted rescue efforts. This is an interesting theory based on factual information (the Airworthiness Directive) that appears to come from a voice of knowledge and experience and could explain the quirky cellular communications - but it's still conjecture. However if the main communications antenna was lost and the plane deviated because of semi-conscious pilots making haphazard decisions due to the accumulative effects of hypoxia then it would be easy to lose track of a large aircraft with enough of fuel on board to fly for thousands of miles out into an ocean. Either way it is all very tragic.

  10. I'm sorry U2 Fan for your loss, but It's simply no longer logistically feasible, if I could develop for both, I would, but i have a life outside of XP and this project is starting to take up too much time, it's gotta finish eventually... anyways, I got all the electrical systems coded in place and now the plane can start itself in full 3d cockpit mode

  11. This is my continuation of the An-24's tutorials. This is an introduction to the cockpit of the An-24. Minor supplemental features are also discussed. More to come in the future. Stay tuned.

  12. Believe me, it wasn't an easy decision, however, the decision was made due to the nature of writing code for the plane. My abilities in computer programming only extend so far, and I'm afraid I can't write a lot of the code for V9 that is automatically simulated in V10. At this point, it just feels like a lot of backwards progress, because every time a break through in V10 happens, I have to go back to the V9 model and write a new line of non-functional code and waste hours trying to line it up properly. I'm truly sorry that the plane has become out of your reach, however V9 designing is just too difficult from a dev's standpoint when compared to V10. I'm really sorry, but as you said, this project's been going on for 2 years (wow) and I need to finish it sometime, and being V10 exclusive is the best for the community. I'm truly sorry. ~Michael Chang~

  14. Welcome to the way I fly! Rules, procedures, checklists, taxiways..... that's all crap designed to delay getting in the air. I get it airborne from the gate and worry about the niceties tomorrow.

  15. Hey everyone, we're pulling support for V9, it's become too tedious to write plugin code for things that are already simulated without coding for V10, as well, V9 has started running very slowly for me and is just too much of a hassle to work with, all 787 work will now be V10 exclusive.

  16. The videos tend to make things a bit dark unfortunately due to all sorts of compression and conversion issues. So here is a direct from sim screen shot of what it looks like with everything cranked up, albeit on an overcast day so its dark on purpose. This is what the "lucky ones" with a 4GB video card will probably get to fly with. MAYBE the 2GB VRAM crowd depending on other settings. This is max everything at 1920x1080. My 512 card was giving me....oh....about 10sec / frame. Here you can see the quality of the texturing and lighting a bit better.

  19. Hi all, just bought a new pc to replace my "old" laptop (MSI GT780DXR with i7 2670, 8GB Ram and GTX570M) with following config: Intel i7-3770, 8 GB Ram, 256 GB SSD, Palit Geforce 680 GTX with 2GB VRam, Win7 64bit (Asrock Z77 Mainboard). I thought that this system would rock X-Plane 10 (10.20) and there would be a great framerate... Nothing! At all! It's even slower than my "old" laptop! High details, no HDR anitaliasing and ONLY 15-20fps at KSEA airport!!! I installed the newest drivers for the graphiccard and everything is up-to-date. What am I doing wrong? Please help! I just love X-Plane 10! Cheers, Nasszelle PS.: All other games are performing well, just X-Plane seems not to like my system.

  20. Dear Mr. Chang, I am immensely disappointed in you and the entire team behind this project. It has been over two years I have been following this program and I always very happy that every single time that a member asked if this plane would work in v9.70 you would answer that yes it would work in v9.70 even if it was the last program that you and your team would make for v9.70. This made me think that you and your entire team where thinking about people like me who simply can not purchase a computer that can run v10. I am not the only member of the XP community that did not change to v10 for one reason or another, I always thought that you where kind and thinking towards us. Seems like I was wrong, you are just a plane maker like so many out there. I have question for you Mr. Chang, its been well over 2 years you have worked on the B787, so what will a few months more or less make as a difference? Best regards, U2 Fan

  21. Dear Mr Chang, That is BS, it is not the best option for the entire XP community, its just better for you and a few others. Best regards, U2 Fan
