  5. Can't see us making a DC-4 anytime soon. Got a pretty full plate at the moment. I'd rather make a Constellation.

  7. Hi, guys! The other day, I got the dc-3 up to the altitude of 30,100 feet MSL which is the altitude recond for the dc-3. I really enjoy flying old airplanes! Cheers, Vincent

  10. Sunday Beaver Update 13 Hi, The mid week update didn't work out, but the Beaver made good progress again during the second half of this week. 3D cockpit and external Animations All switches and controls in the 3D cockpit are now hooked up properly again and can be accessed via my custom cockpit interface. As you know I tried to support external hardware, but not everything was working out as planned. The radios can be operated properly via external radio equipment. However, switches were not always properly working and some of the Beaver switches are not supported by external hardware anyway, so the virtual cockpit has to be used. Everything can be operated properly via the virtual cockpit though. I will provide the list of all custom and standard XP datarefs which are used in the 3D cockpit, so if somebody wants to make custom hardware work, he or she should be able to do so having this information. The cockpit lights (instruments, map, cabin, warning lights) are properly working now, according to their state and power source and the same is true for external lights. I also added a few more animations for the external model. The prop, flight control surfaces and the tires are working fine now. A nested animation for the tail wheel steering is driving me crazy at the moment, because the parenting of parts is correct from my point of view, but I will figure it out. Systems I also continued with systems coding and the main part has been the implementation of the S-TEC autopilot. Still some work to do, but it looks fine so far. That's it for this Sunday.

  11. Slight update, though I am not working on this often I do plan to be working on this again soon (as I am slowly getting back into X-plane) the FM for this plane will be based on the following manuals and guides B-29A SAC http://www.alternatewars.com/SAC/B-29A_Superfortress_SAC_-_19_April_1950.pdf R-3350-26WD AECS http://www.alternatewars.com/SAC/R-3350-26WC,_-26WD_AECS_-_August_1968.pdf B-29A Manual commander Training manual http://www.scribd.com/doc/49485890/1945-AAF-Manual-No-50-9-The-B-29-Airplane-Commander-Training-Manual-for-the-Superfortress Pilot http://www.avialogs.com/index.php/en/aircraft/usa/boeing/b-29superfortress/an-01-20ej-1-pilots-flight-operating-instructions-for-army-model-b-29.html Engineer http://www.avialogs....ndbookb-29.html Combat crew http://www.scribd.com/doc/37160919/B-29-Combat-Crew-Manual-December-1944 as well as the following videos Now it should be noted that this is my first time making a FM with plane maker that will try to be completely accurate (I have designed a few planes in there before so I know how to use it) so this could take a while. that said any tips on how to make a good fm faster are appreciated. EDIT: bad link for the pilot manual, fixed

  13. No chance, because the plane went done over the south china sea. Thats about 1000 km away from North Korea. But if we are hoping for a miracle, then there might be a chance of the plane being hijacked and flown to someplace we don't know.

  17. As part of some experimenting that I'm doing, I've put together a little web app that aircraft authors can use to browse and filter datarefs quickly...similar to Dataref Editor (DRE) in x-plane. If you normally use the list of datarefs found at xsquawkbox.net, this will be welcome relief. Simply type in a search string and hit enter to filter the dataref results. Case insensitivity is included in the searches by default because well, Austin wasn't the most consistent in this area. Also, the search box supports PERL style GREP expressions. So you can search for things like: cockpit2.+actuators.+ratio which would list all cockpit actuators that set a ratio value. In addition, there is a quick filter pull down that lets you filter by common categories depending on authoring needs. For example, you may be animating a cockpit in blender and only need to be concerned with actuators and controls...or you're just working on Landing gear stuff. This is a 'practice app' that I'm using to learn some specific things. The tech I'm using is what is called "reactive" in the sense that if I make a code change and upload it, you will see the reaction automatically without you having to refresh the page ...so if you're browsing with the app and all the sudden the page looks like its refreshing, then you know I have made a change. The changes I will most likely make will be visual and/or to increase the filter options or perhaps add a few checkboxes for whatever reason. There is no plan, this is just a sandbox project that I happen to find very useful at the moment and figure other authors might as well. The app is hosted as a "guest" on its server, so no telling how long it was persist. TomK http://drbrowser.meteor.com/
