  1. Here are some first PREVIEW screenshots (mostly from the European Alps) of my upcoming new X-Plane 10 HD Scenery Mesh v2! https://picasaweb.google.com/101666907909842492197/XPlane10HDMeshV2PREVIEW (it seems Picasa has somehow blown up the saturation of the images ... don't know why) A short list of the improvements: increased mesh densityimproved forest representation (in Europe, reprocessed/improved raw forest landclass data)all new OSM data (streets, railways, power lines, water)linear OSM rivers included (Tag:waterway=river)some - minor - landclass tweaking (like strip mines or riverbeds etc.).Planned coverage: Europe (this time, entire Europe)USA (complete)Alaskapossibly parts of Canada (like the West)... etc. (depends on the data size ... but this time the single DSFs will be even larger, so ...)Release? Hopefully this summer (most of the things are already in place, but there are a few things - partly not in my hand - which need to happen before).

  3. Hi, Folks!, Today we're showing off another quick set of previews for the Saab 340A, and along with it we are announcing something we feel is quite exciting! In addition to all the liveries you have previously seen (and the more that you will see) created by Theo, we are extremely excited to announce that Leen de Jager has been secretly working on liveries for this aircraft as well! For those of you that don't know (if you've been living on the moon), Leen is a very talented artist who has provided the community with many free, quality liveries in the past. You can see some of his work here. The following Silver Airways livery is one that Leen produced for us (my personal favorite). In the coming days we'll continue to show more of his work! The scenery in the screenshots is the amazing Wilmington 2.0. Enjoy! Want to see past previews? Click here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here!

  4. No, we will not be developing for Outerra 3D. This model is strictly for X-Plane. This is already in place. Depending on sun angle you will see various glares. Other than the fact they sound awesome I can't reveal anymore at this time. This is the 340A model and it's way too early to be discussing B at this time.

  5. You will be very happy if you purchased this plane, I have it and have enjoyed every flight in her. Just pic a really nice scenery, NZCH for example by ChrisK, and fly.....pure joy This is a great plane for sightseeing, and soon for flight training by the looks of the update. Time to practice those short approach landings I feel, there are some rather "interesting" airfields around NZCH that might need a plane like this Slainte, Andy NZCH

  7. Check out http://www.fseforums.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=81124&posts=1&start=1 regarding the BRA Aircraft Cooperative. This may be just what you're looking for. Also, like woweezowee said, you change the alias for the JS32 to map to the JS31. The JS32 is the same aircraft with a more powerful engine. Simply enter "British Aerospace JS31" from the plugin. Now you can fly the JS32.

  9. And you can set the alias right from the plugin. The descriptions are older than that feature.

  10. My advice is take your time, renting smaller aircraft at first, and figuring out how to maximize profit while balancing rental costs. Then, move progressively, into larger aircraft, doing the same thing. Eventually you will be more than able to realize when it is a good idea, or a bad idea to rent larger aircraft based on assignments you have found. If you want to get into a group, find an existing group out there, that looks like it might be interesting to you, and join up, or ask for an invitation to join. Of course, a portion of every flight's revenue will go back to the company to pay for expenses, so this is sometimes not the best way to make money. When I first started, I freelanced, and I made decent money. Later, I got together with a fellow X-Plane user (who had been in FSE much longer than I had), and I flew some of his aircraft around, making money for his group and myself. Eventually, I had enough money to get a loan downpayment on a Grumman Goose, and I went from there. I personally recommend buying your first aircraft when you actually have enough money to buy something "useful". I bought a Goose, some people buy C185's, others will buy C208's, Beech 18's, etc. Just make sure your first bird is something that you can make money with. There is no point in buying a C152, in my humble opinion, because you can't make good money with them, and the same goes for other two or three seat aircraft... At the same time, I recommend taking it slow, ignore what everyone else out there has, and make sure your having fun. If you start chasing the money, your going to burn out, and you'll start to hate the game... If you want to fly the Jetstream, rent a JS-31.

  12. I'm more of an independent operator out in FSEconomy (*and not looking for group membership) but I've been an FSE'er for years and years. "Hub" flying is often a good way to make some money - finding an airport with jobs which regularly replenish themselves and filling your airplane up for a good efficient flight. Often times, "hub" flying helps support less economical trips, like a sightseeing trip around the world... A year or two ago I took a Pilatus PC-12 on an around-the-world flight via FSEconomy... and to spice it up I went the polar route... From the equator flying north up through North America, over the north pole and then south through Asia down to Australia, over Antarctica and back up via Cape Horn in South America to find the same airport I started at. Not your standard east-west/west-east around the world flight! (*All done within the confines of FSEconomy!) Predominantly flying my Dash-8 Q400 via FSX, and just recently acquired the DC-3 via X-Plane out of Providence, Rhode Island KPVD (USA). The Dash-8 fits my flying style perfectly, but I was not using X-Plane 10 at ALL so I bought my first and only payware aircraft and I'm using it for short jaunts in the New England area on occasion. If you ever make it up that way, stop in and say hi. And be sure to frequent the FSEconomy user forums - LOTS of great users fostering a good community. -Greg

  13. I'd have to agree that the levels of simulation in DCS is pretty awesome. I dream that we'll get the same degree of hyper realism/ complex aircraft in X-Plane ... but that's just my preference. I do believe that the levels of high fidelity in X-Plane are heading in the right direction; SAAB and iXEG. I hope that JRollon's aircraft (particularly the JS32) and I know that Tom Kyler's MU-2 will, receive upgrades through to the future. On top of that X-Plane offers a more complete world and as I'm not really into air combat these days, I much prefer X-Plane .. but hats off to DCS!

  17. Steven, Sometimes it amazes me how much you don't "get it." My mind tells me I should refuse to accept that you're as far from a normal society mental state as you make yourself out to be, but perhaps you genuinely are just as you make yourself out to be? I swear to myself you're smarter than that...in fact, I know you are. I refuse to accept that you're dumb, so don't act dumb. Multiple individuals in this topic have posted in here about this for a reason. There's NO doubt that your connection to Dan Klaue and his work at Carenado is the driving force behind your postings here. You're trying to argue otherwise, and that's just dumb. Very few. There is, however, a staggering amount of Carenado/Dan Klaue discussion out of you, to which you do have quite the affiliation. It ranges from releases, to upcoming, to sales, to updates. Can't say there's much of that from you anywhere about anyone else. You're focusing in on the wrong point. No one has disdain for Carenado or their great products. One livery more than two years ago in 2011 (which is pretty normal for you to make liveries anyhow) for 30 posts about Carenado here. Not the same. This is a horrible analogy. Everyone buys what they like, Steven. The difference is you have access to products prior to their release as a beta tester for Carenado. You choose to buy it, but we both know you don't have to buy it. If you wanted a Nikon, Mac, or Toyota you'd have to buy them. You don't beta test for them. Dumb. Competing products are good for the community, and in turn, good for people like Jim. We need more competing products. No, one time someone beat you to it. Ah, yes. That's right. The vaporware topic that you tried to play off as something that was intended to be funny after it backfired on you, and the topic about your disappointment recently on an upcoming update, and your post about X-Aviation and patience all the while rolling your eyes. I don't even have to ask Jim to know the answer to this. It's a combination of your anti-XA topics as of late, coupled with your fanboy Dan Klaue topics (a person who vocally has a distaste for anything XA). The correlation is uncanny. You can't seriously be that dumb. Again, I refuse to accept it. Oh, good. We'll see what happens in the coming hours then! We appreciate you taking the time to better the community and spread the word about the next XA product update, for which you are a customer of. This topic, as usual for things that you have been a part of or started as of late, has essentially become zero sum and is now closed, Steven. I can't even see a glimpse of good out of further discussion. People are free to post about Carenado or any other products all they want. From you, however, it's becoming rather repetitive and annoying. Perhaps you should back off a bit. Your affiliation to the developer of this product and your recent onslaught of anti-XA behavior is what's killing you here. That's a toxic combination. Had it just been your affiliation alone you probably wouldn't be getting so much grief, but you'd definitely be forever known as the cheerleader.
