  1. Hello, with the 3.1 update I noticed that the clouds turn pitch black in the evening, which is not necessarily a bad thing but it happens while the sun is still above the horizon and the plane (and the ground) is still illuminated with sunlight, which looks totally unrealistic and kind of breaks the immersion. However, I have found out that when I set the time to summer, the change in lighting of the clouds DOES correspond to the sun position at all times and the clouds only go dark after the sunset. In 3.0 it worked correctly no matter which time of year it was, but now it looks like SkyMaxx thinks that the sun is lower than it actually is. Any thoughts on this?
  2. The very important feature of NOAA is that it includes various layers of turbulence and winds aloft even in areas not covered by METARs (typically over the oceans or large seas). I'm not sure if the default XPL weather can do any of that. The news is especially disappointing because of what the original announcement said: FSGRW is of course an option but 40 EUR for a mere weather injector? Go figure. Now the only hope is to wait and see if the developer of the NOAA plugin can somehow adapt it to work with RWC.
  3. I was wondering though, if they have a closed group of betatesters, maybe they could lift the NDA for them so that they can post some screenshots from their test flights? That would keep all of us happy (and our mouths shut) and meanwhile the team could peacefully continue working towards releasing the plane. Just a thought.
  4. Interesting, I thought the -400 would be more difficult because there are some changes to the pressurization system due to the longer fuselage. But yeah, the -300 is my favorite, too, for various reasons :-).
  5. I think the next logical step would be an expansion pack with the -400 & -500 variants and maybe the -300F. But of course I don't know what IXEG's plans are or if they even have any at this point.

I really miss that "Topics you've participated in" section in the forums, though :-(.
  7. Boeing 737-236/Adv, reg. G-BGDJ, above Swiss Alps during British Airways' advertisement photo shoot in 1993.
  8. This has put a big grin on my face. I remember that back in the days of FS2004 I would photoshop exhaust heat haze and flap vortices to my screenshots to make them look more like actual photographs. Now it's more like watching an actual B733 .
  9. Speaking of wing textures, will some liveries also come with this (I think more common) wing texture? http://www.2747.com/2747/world/airport/seville/2010en/brusselsairlines737400b.jpgThe lufthansa planes' wings are almost white in color with the "Do not walk outside this area" black lines on them, whereas every 733 I've flown on had that gray tile on them like in that picture (which I personally find prettier). No biggie if not, but it would probably save me a lot of time when creating repaints :-).
  10. Looks great! Only I would expect the cumuli to look much brighter with the sun shining above them.
  11. What a coincidence! Just yesterday I was thinking what a shame it was that SkyMaxx only shows one kind of weather at a time and today you announce this! Seems like another great year for X-Plane. I wonder how you made this to work with the overcast stratus layer which is currently drawn across the entire sky.
  12. Guys, I suggest we do a little sing-song to raise our spirits. Feel free to join in. I'm sure you know the tune. I feel it in my fingers I feel it in my toes IXEG is all around me and so the feeling grows It's written in the wind It's everywhere I go, So if you really love IXEG come on and let it show ...
  13. I know right, it's almost 2am here.
  14. Well, here's a link to a video where you can observe some wing-flex on B733: https://youtu.be/B0eihNQqafw?t=2m35s But it's very subtle indeed and I'm not sure it's even possible to tranfer such fine flex movements into X-Plane without it looking too cheesy.
  15. Also, I think the delay would be quite frustrating in some situations, because in real life you get physical feedback of actually pressing a button, whereas in the sim you wouldn't know it it's the FMC doing some calculations or if you just misclicked the key with your mouse, then you would click again and in the end it would show something like EEEDDFFF.
  16. At first I thought to myself, "wow, that's a pretty long list for something that's been in development for 5 years," but I see that most of those things are just eye candy and other minor stuff. Not that I don't care for those, but I can definitely live with that for the time being (especially if I finally get a reliable and accurately represented 737 in X-Plane). In fact, IXEG being such honest and transparent developer means much more to me than a having wing-flex or what have you. I have but two things to add, though: 1) "3D Pilots in Cockpit - not added because we don´t have a good model" - I think you'd make for a very good model, Jan! (pun intended) Joking aside, I see your concern, but I'd still rather had not-so-good looking pilots in the cockpit (outside view only that is) than having to look at unmanned aircraft sailing through the sky. I guess nobody will inspect them from up-close anyway... If you were talking about having a copilot sitting on his seat in cockpit view, than I agree completely. I think CRJ200 had that and I would just turn him off instantly because he looked like that "automatic pilot" from "Airplane!" movie and ate FPS for breakfast. 2) I see "optional eyebrow windows" are not on the list. So, will they make it to 1.0 provided we already have options for winglets and steam gauge engine instruments? I have a livery in mind that I'd like to make and unfortunately it ceased to operate before they even started retro-fitting the plugs. As always, thanks for your hard work guys, my wallet is ready!
  17. You must have misheard the sound then, it's not a kettle, it's the hype train!
  18. I just can't get enough of this...
  19. In Tom's defence, sometimes I'm seeing those low res, pixelated cirrus clouds as well, even though I have them set to the highest resolution available. I don't know what triggers it though, but is seems to happen mostly with real life weather activated.
  20. Oh, no... Tomorrow I'm going on vacation for a week so it seems that I will be forced to enviously watch screenshots on forums for the time being.
  21. OK, I feel really stupid now - the options is there, indeed. That kinda sorts it out, then .
  22. I'm a big fan of Steam but if there's one thing that would deter me from using it in this case, it would be the inability to install the sim to a location other than my Steam folder. For various reasons, I like to keep my X-Plane installation on a separate harddrive. With Steam, I'd be forced to install it to my Steam directory on my main drive, which is definitely not big enough to hold my 107GB X-Plane folder (and that is just Europe + some addons). But all in all, I think that going to Steam is not just a great move - it's a necessary one, because Dovetail Games (the guys behind the Train Simulator) announced yesterday that they made a licensing deal with MS and will continue the development of FSX, which is coming to Steam, too.
  23. Vulture in the Alps (In Czech, "sup" means vulture) Addons used: - Carenado Cessna C152 II - SkyMaxx Pro - FlyWithLua + Real Terra Haze - Swiss ortophoto scenery (ZL17) from SimHeaven - World2Xplane experimental scenery v0.2 Would have posted earlier but I was waiting for a new monitor so I could make a 1920x1080 screenshot .
  24. That's a pity. The rotary knob on my X52's throttle would be almost ideal for the tiller...
  25. The video is OUT!!! Gee, I was just about to go to bed...
