  2. You know what? You are not trying to disconnect the electrical generator (red covers), are you? I mean, I am sure you would watch the tutorials where I close the battery guard (black cover) a million times...or any of the other "cold and dark" tutorials? You shouldnt get a gizmo crash (thats what your log hints at), so at least you discovered a bug. But if you are leading us all on a goose chase because you cant figure out where the battery switch is - then I think I may loose my patented Jedi-cool.... Jan
  3. Hmm, you might have Gremlins in your computer. That battery guard cover sure looks open to me as well...
  4. Ok, your log shows that indeed no other plugins are running - thank you for taking the effort to accomplish that. The problem you show is most peculiar - in the screenshot you supplied everything looks like it should - the cover is open and the battery switch is on OFF. This is what it should look like when you boot in "cold and dark". Now you should be able to close the cover (or move the battery switch to ON, that is the same effect). If you get power when moving the standby power switch to BATTERY you are bypassing the automatic disconnection of standby power while on the ground, so that seems to work correctly. This also hints that the battery is not drained, and it should be full after reloading the aicraft in any case. Can you post the gizmo_log.txt after you get the gizmo crash? That might help us see what is going on. Thank you, Jan

  8. Hi George, from the manual we know that an E/D point is needed to calculate the descent. That end of decent point is defined by "the last point before the end of route or discontinuity that holds a vertical restriction of AT or BELOW" (among some other options, like a runway waypoint, etc.) We assumed that the FMS would also not allow VNAV for the climb and cruise if there is no E/D point. This assumption may be wrong, so we are looking at allowing this again in one of the next patches. If you like to fly without entering STARs and approaches right away, just assign a fixed altitude to the last waypoint, i.e. 35.000 (if your cruise alt is 35.000). That way you will have an E/D and VNAV should work. Again, we intend to change this in the future. Jan

  10. Hi, I have never seen this - but you should check your X-Plane "failure" settings, it could be that you have random failures on (which is the default setting)... The only time you would see this otherwise is if you moved the display selector on the IRS unit to TEST, but that is a momentary hold knob, so it should flip back when released... Jan

I don´t think there is any rule agains using it for situational awareness - but if you set it to "200" and use it to alert you of the MDA you might bust your limit if there is a valley or gorge in front of the runway. To use the DH for a minimum you need to have the ground charted and measured - thats why the 100 feet for a CAT II is often stated as a slightly different value. The mapping team will take the highest spot within a certain perimeter of where the plane is when it is 100 feet above the runway threshhold. If that is a small mound of say 5 feet, the resultant DH will be 95. The CAT IIIa is always 50 because you will be over the runway when it sounds - and that is usually flat. You can set the DH for anything else you like (although I would consider it bad airmanship - don´t use an alert for anything else, it will loose it´s significance in your mind). Jan

  14. Yes, I see what you are saying - but you would help us with reporting the crashes, instead of avoiding them - also, a lot of those "changing STAR" and "changing approach" crash issues have been resolved, so you might be stepping around mines that are not there, anymore . Jan

  17. Hi - do you run any third party stuff like Saitek panel or so? This might interfere with our battery switch. If you run down the battery (by accident) you can reload the plane, or you can use the "recharge battery" command in the "IXEG failures) menu. Without any battery power, no AC supplier will work (you can´t even connect the GPU, as battery power is needed to close the breaker). Also make sure you have enough fuel - if you run out and exit the flight, on your next flight you will have zero fuel again (and engines and APU die). Order fuel through the PREFLIGHT menu or the GROUND SERVICES menu. Jan
  18. No problem - they do change these things all the time, too. One example is the fuel pumps. On the Airbus I fly they recently decided to turn those OFF during transit - because they draw a lot of power and accumulate wear as well - so they figured they can save some lifetime and also gas (if the APU powers the airplane). Another example is the window heat. It might be feasible to simply let it run - however it adds to the heat in the cockpit, and especially in the summer, every little bit helps (you will find pilots who craft makeshift sunshades out of weight-control folder, magazines, clipboards, etc. to keep as much sun out as possible). There are no chocks - yet. It is on the list, though - then again, I can see the bug reports from failing to remove them, already . The isolation valve is possible different on the NG - where the APU might be strong enough to supply two packs at once - you would need the valve in OPEN for this to work. On the 737 this is not allowed (except when heating, but then its not necessary as the packs are VERY good at heating). Please keep the feedback and questions coming! Viele Grüße nach München, Jan
  19. Hi Michael, to save yourself a lot of trouble, just use the built-in video function. You can set up the parameters in X-Plane, then hit CTRL-Space to start and CTRL-Space to stop and will have a .avi video in your output folder. It won´t have any sound, but we won´t need that. Just make the quality pretty low with a low framerate, then it will be small enough to upload here - or post it on youtube with a "private" setting and share the link here.   23. Hi, we have heard reports about this - and have also observed transient weird sound behaviour, so I totally believe what you reported. The transient nature of this makes it so hard to track down, along with the myriad of software and hardware combinations... we are keeping our ears peeled for any sound issues, so please keep reporting them, even if a reboot seems to fix it.   25. Hi Michael, I tried again both sequences, and the behaviour was absolutely correct on my system. In scenario 1, the MA light went on on the right FD (as it was the only FCC still on) In scenario 2, the exact same thing happened... I suspect there might be a plugin conflict on your system, maybe? Your FMA combination (only GS) is also something that is "not possible" and I have never seen this on my system... Jan
