I had the occasion to see a light snow fall yesterday evening at Vienna, which looked nice, what was a bit odd was the snow blown across the tarmac. At first this looks great when you are standing still, sitting in your captain seat looking at a gate or other, but as soon as you have more tarmac in front of you, or you change your view to external you have a repetitive pattern with that effect across the whole airport, a bit like wave patterns. It needs a rework (DONE BY LAMINAR AS I WAS CORRECTLY INFORMED), the idea is ok though. Ah, and considering the snowfall intensity (light) I thought there was a lot of those snow waves for "light snowing".

SMP 4, Realweather and XP11 - a stunning combination!

even with 10 it's not bad at all , love the front, and the low hanging clouds over Nice approach this afternoon -
really? have fun, I didn't

a great first post to introduce yourself... asking for help in first place did not cross your mind?

If you cannot install it means you cannot activate it, therefore you should still be able to get your money back

sounds like the problem of not picking up your throttles when disconnecting AT, throttle remains armed and engaged... check your controller's throttle levers actually move the ones in the virtual cockpit, to make sure this happens you have a very good ghost throttle that shows you where your controller and where the planes throttle really are. before disengaging AT make them overlap and you will have happy landings (if this was the issue) there's a section in the manual on this

please release it to end these discussions ... have no popcorn left

updated to XP11 pb2 today and yes, Gizmo window disappeared :-) I have one painful issue left, after that I might actually be able to do a full flight: the knobs (especially IAS/MACH) behave very strange (already before b2), the sound is plaid back like I was turning the knob very fast, but most important, it seems to turn only clock wise. I have to try a dozen of times until I pick up randomly a spot where it accepts to turn down (counter-clock wise) Now this said, I am not sure if this is a particular issue on my side since I am running a multi-monitor configuration and there might still be a few early bugs left with this brand new XP11 feature. anyone else noticed such behavior? -
yes, please elaborate, you guys, or maybe my good old friend {A=d2Pi/4} got me completely confused now...

stop taking pictures and go back to work! :-) we want this yesterday! looks spectacular, might even give us back some fps in XP11 .. dreaming

very nice, thank you!

I guess you might be referring to Gizmo, there's a beta available for you to download check this out...

in that case, I would not try to experiment too much :-), even for experienced X-Planers Betas remain challenging. We have learned from good source, there is hope that we will get the 733 very soon "enabled" for XP11. If your wish however is to try the ixeg today or even better, yesterday, why not installing the #10 version? -
wow

bring it on, can't wait.... now that you hooked me up to SMP 3 in XP10, XP11's clouds are kind of a deal breaker :-)

not sure if relevant, but try to put in windowed or full screen mode and see if it helps -

thanks for this, it does indeed work the issues I encounter though (pardon my specific question, move accordingly if not the right place here) have to do probably with the offset values I use with my triple-monitor configuration: 1. click spots seem to be messed up 2. rotary knobs are not controllable in cockpit if anybody has an idea how to correct, open to test... -
enjoying those mountains and Skymax clouds flying one of my Black Friday deals, the Saab 340A, from Geneva to Venice

... or for some it has actually accelerated trying to optimize revenue from old products, some even adding custom features that will become obsolete after XP11 release... one word: reflections. currently the buzz-feature everybody is jumping on and trying to implement without fearing their hard work becomes ridiculous with overdone eye candy...
-
Actually, I think this is very good news, don't release it if it is not good enough... Personally I hate the solutions that have been released so far (and I have seen some: JAR, Carenado, FF ), and as expected, a lot of wrong manipulations of the zoom whilst trying to rotate a knob or vice-versa. Click and drag works just fine, simply a matter of adapting to it, after all, most of us are still young enough not to fear a change in habits I would assume.

do you have the same figure for flex?
-
Does this mean the winglet version will also be updated to have the benefit of lower fuel consumption? This would have a much more significant impact than our winglex fetish.
-
...what I call a bouncing model just looking at lift differentials... And you guys are happy paying for such eye-candy?
-
nothing to do with flight model, go try to understand first which external, and internal actions have an impact on wingflex and you will realize it is a function that requires several iterations to calculate the polygons for one specific point in time which again depends on its position and dynamics of a previous point in time. In order to respect material elasticity, weight distributions, dynamic forces etc etc. such models, when used to produce animations for static analysis in engineering as an example, are pre-calculated for given set of conditions and and then injected into a rendering system. we are asking X-Plane to do this job real-time! I am not saying it is impossible to achieve an animation that gives you an impression of a well simulated flex at low performance impact, but it has nothing to do with real wingflex. (Please, don't mention FF again, I cannot consider any of their add-ons comparable with what we are talking about here) There is another question I ask myself though: I still wonder when I would be able to use that animation. The only moment we could really admire it is when we land, i.e in replay mode. On my side, replay is a black box, seems broken... custom animations not working well with almost any plane, IXEG even has the option to deactivate those in replay mode. ...now enough... I am going to fly.. without wingflex!
-
unfortunately I do not own the FJS and cannot talk to it. heard lots of good things about it though, just got too late into X-Plane probably and got stuck with the latest releases.. either good or bad. I don't want to add too much to the discussion, as I think I made my position pretty clear, but the discussion as such I believe is very healthy. If IXEG deems this is a necessary addition this is their decision, and I promise, I will not throw away my 737 because of that . They would probably not give a ... anyway! what would be nice though is to have the ability to de-activate these features if someone like me is seeking pure performance. I know they are doing it already with certain animations so I hope this flexibility stays and is enhanced.
