  1. Well, you need a system that can run it. When I turn on extended DSFs, I notice a drop in fps of about 20-30%, so I leave it off. I'd rather fly with ex. DFSs off than sacrifice other settings.
  2. Most likely something in the Pilotedge area. KLAS-KSAN, KSFO-KLAX etc.
  3. I recently installed X-Plane 10.42 (fresh install, not an update), and I am experiencing a similar problem. In 10.36 everything was fine, but since using 10.42 this is what happens: When the trottle-lever is at idle, the right throttle in the sim sometimes jumps to full reverse. Sometimes it jumps back to idle by itself, sometimes I need to add a little bit of power to "reset" it. I am using a custom throttle quadrant using one of Leo Bodnars USB-Interfaces. I have assigned both throttles to the same lever. Everything is calibrated in X-Plane. As soon as I set some amount of power, the problem is gone. I don't think that it's a hardware problem, because I don't experience this problem with any other plane in X-Plane or FSX/P3D. I also tried to move all custom plugins apart from gizmo out of the plugins-folder, but that didn't fix it, unfortunately. Of course I was thinking of this at first (e.g. a bad potentiometer), but when I am monitoring the output values for the throttle levers in FSUIPC, I don't see any jumping values which could cause this issue.
  4. I just made a thorough analysis. It's just the right size.
  5. TrackIR isn't fot everyone. I just can't get to like it, not even when flying GA, where it's probably most useful. When flying big iron, I even find it annoying. It might sound weird, but using TrackIR feels very unnatural to me.
  6. Delta old colors ftw! I don't need any other livery.
  7. Skymaxx is not a weather program, it "just" changes the visuals (clouds, sky textures etc.). It uses whichever source provides X-Planes weather, which can be the built-in weather (real time or set) or an external weather engine/plugin like FS Global Real Weather, NOAA plugin, EFASS etc. The 733 will not behave any different if SM is installed or not. It can of course have an impact on fps/performance (to the better or to the worse, depending on settings), but this will be the same, no matter which plane you use.
  8. Wing flex is uber-important to many folks. At least as important as tunring off/on the landing lights EXACTLY when passing 10.000ft - or else the landing-light police is going to hunt you down. Just look at the PSX 747 sim. It doesn't even offer a 3D Cockpit or an external model, just single 2D panels. Yet it's one of the most sophisticated sims an amateur can buy.
  9. Nope. Already flying v2.0 with all the bells and whistles you could ever dream of (e.g. viagra for the gear handle), while enjoying our torture.
  10. You can also use "half GS * 10", which is often easier to calculate in the head. Another common formula for descents is "altitude-difference/1000 * 3" for calculating your TOD. Let's say you are cruising at 20.000ft and you want to be at 5.000ft at a given waypoint. That's (20-5)*3 = 15*3 = 45 nautical miles. So you would start your descent when there are about 50nm to go to that waypoint (just to be on the safe side). You can also use the first formula for calculating your v/s for the descent. Just make sure to constantly adjust for the change in GS which goes along the change in altitude, even when your IAS stays the same.
  11. I have yet to see a boring video about the IXEG 737. Ok, maybe toggling a single switch from on to off for 10 minutes could potentially get boring. 8 minutes should be ok, though.
  12. You can always use x-planes built-in quick view function to store up to 10 views on the num block. In case you didn't know: - position your view and zoom to something you want to have quick acess to (overhead panel, FMC, MCP etc.) - press Ctrl + num X (the number on the num block to which you want to store the view) From now on you just press that number on the num-block, and it jumps to the previously stored view. This is stored per aircraft and persistent, so it's still there in the next sim session.
  13. This list is highly appreciated, and I don't see it as a degradation of the initial release in any way. I think that most of us will be more than happy to fly this beauty asap, instead of waiting another X years for features that are just "nice to have" or which are rarely used.
  14. Those are/were noise monitoring points. AFAIK, the numbers aren't distances, they are just numbered in sequence. I think you don't find those in the current Navigraph/Jeppesen charts. Here is a more detailed explanation for the noise monitoring at Dresden airport: http://www.dresden-airport.de/company/noise-and-environment/noise-protection/noise-monitoring.html
  15. I wouldn't be too sure about that. Some indirect follow-up costs due to divorces or lost jobs because of 733 addiction might be accumulating.
  16. That's perfectly fine. Some of my all-time favourite add-ons don't even have a cabin modeled. As soon as you move the camera past the cockpit door, you find yourself "sitting" in the air.
  17. Nice! So is the FMC the last thing to be finished for the initial release, or are there still some bugs in other systems, the flight model or the graphics which you are aware off and that need to be adressed?
  18. According to the changelog, PFPX already has a profile for the 737-300.
  19. I do follow both forums, and won't stop participating in one or the other. You can't say that one or the other is better or worse in general. Just as in real life, there are good people and there are idiots everywhere you go. You have the choice to ignore the ones you don't like, as long as it's not your family.
  20. You can get away with 4GB of VRAM with 1080p/1200p and still have decent rendering settings, but of course it depends on the scenery and the plane. I used a GTX 770 with 4GB until recently, which was ok. I changed to a Titan X woth 12GB, which of course is a bit overkill for X-Plane 10 (a 980ti is more than adequate), so there aren't any VRAM issues to be expected.
  21. Maybe it would be an option (at least for a future update) to use an already existing format, so the user can freely choose the source for updates. There are some payware addons out there that use an existing format for their FMCs. For example the Leonardo MD-80 uses PMDG data, others use the Aerosoft Airbus format. You can get a charts-only subscription from Navigraph. It's €65,33 for the first year and €59,38 for a renewal.
  22. It's oboiusly the developer's choice, so we'll have to go with whatever he chooses. I will stick with Navigraph for all my AIRAC- and chart-subscriptions, but I don't have a problem with updating the IXEG seperately through Aerosoft. I don't have any real-life experience about how a route should be drawn, I can only say that I didn't have any issues with routing, SIDs or STARs using Navigraph navdata in any plane or sim, flying offline or online. Even on Pilotedge, which I consider being the "strictest" online network for the amateur. I'm suprised that you had issues when dealing with Navigraph. I always got prompt, helpful and friendly support when I had a problem or question.
  23. I would also prefer Navigraph if it's possible to have the choice.
  24. If it ain't Boeing, I'm not going. (or McDonnell Douglas).
  25. If you need to move your viewpoint that far back and still don't "see" enough, then your field of view in the rendering options is probably set too low. What angle did you set there? I usually use about 70-80 Degrees on a 16:9 screen, depending a bit on the plane. I don't like the wide angle look with higher values, but maybe that's just what you want to achieve?
