  1. That's not necessary. I never noticed before and nobody's ever complained about it before either, but you are right that rain particles can't be seen in front of clouds. Unfortunately I don't think it's something we can fix given X-Plane's SDK. Totally agree. I feel no need to simulate fabricated, unrealistic conditions. If we did allow you to set up a 40km-thick volumetric cloud, it would kill performance and probably crash most systems as well due to memory exhaustion. We're not going to change anything there. Hey thanks for digging that old post up Ben! The research that went into SilverLining (the engine that powers SkyMaxx Pro) was a lot of fun, and it's some pretty hardcore stuff. I even went and got accepted into the American Meteorological Society to get access to more research. But yeah, when I say 40km-high stratus clouds don't exist, I'm not just making that up. Normally they don't even exist above 2km.

  4. I've managed to go from stutters to minor hiccups by playing with Nvidia settings. Having said that, I noticed no difference when changing the Thread Optimisation option - but then I don't have a gtx770.

  5. Yes, its partially possible and already happening .... but going to a level, where only the spires are "expensive" and the res "cheap" would be very hard 8and tedious) to achieve ... and there is much more in that region, which would again rise the mesh density. So, its not worth to try to optimize - for me - this extremely. So yes, I emphasize again: its "sad" but true, that this will only be for high end hardware. Maybe, see it as an "experimental" mesh ...

  6. As mentioned, the newer nVidia drivers (same one you're using) are causing this issue.

  7. FYI. Found this for you: "Just read in a German forum that setting the Threaded Optimization Option within the Nvidia Control Panel to "OFF" will eliminate the periodic stutters. Even with the newest drivers. It works with my GTX 770 4Gb running the 347.09 driver. No more stutters, yay."

  9. Happy holidays, everybody. Just wanted to share with you the ultimate objective of the application that I originally intended to implement. I had not thought that I would be able to include it in version 1.1 but I just did the first test and the results looked promising. Therefore, I decided to share with you another feature that I will add to the next version. The application will assess your flight performance against 20 categories and will give you a score. I just did a test flight violating almost every possible rule. The application generated the following report. Although, there are still a few bugs (and typos), I hope to fix them by the end of January. I hope the application will be worth every penny now. Cheers!
