  3. about the idea of show more clouds far away from those 40nm. When I was making the textures of the clouds I had to make some textures for the far distance clouds.. Those ones where not texture but sprites so they are planes far away so in that situation I used real photos of clouds. I don't know if Skymaxx is using that far sprites clouds already.. but if not.. that could be a solution. For sure we do not need 3D clouds a certain distance from the plane.

  4. Next time it happens post your log.txt and we can take a look at what your X-Plane installation is doing. Don't copy and paste the log.txt. Use the "More Reply Options" button below the reply window and attach the log.txt file. You will find the log.txt file in your main X-Plane folder. That log tells us what plugins you have installed and gives us a clearer picture and some clues into what is happening to cause the crash or other strange behavior.

  6. OK folks, I've halved the frequency of lightning strikes, and made the bolts themselves a bit thinner, in beta 4 of SkyMaxx Pro 2.1.1. This has been handed off to our beta testers, and we hope to release within the next few weeks. jiggyb2 - make sure you're using SkyMaxx Pro 2.1 if you aren't already; those weird "lone thunderheads" shouldn't happen so much in that version.   7. Forget it. Found it by more Googling. UPDATE: After getting down voted, I realized I should be more helpful and share what I learned and how I put it into practice: 1. After takeoff and reaching a suitable altitude (usually in the 500 ft route, partly because by then I can have the airplane somewhat stable), I tap the quick-view key I have setup for the center console and slide forward and momentarily hold the YD and AP tab switches. Once I know they are engaged (will stay in the forward position), I tap the W-key to get back to the normal cockpit view. Then I can automate whatever navigation help I need (heading or VOR, and climb) 2. On approach when I'm ready to take over, especially on a visual or non-precision approach, I click the A/P button on the left "handle" of the control yoke once, and then a second time. The first produces the aforementioned "chirping" or "calvary charge" alert, and the second click silences it, all while keeping the AP disengaged (in other aircraft I've flown, pressing a second time would re-engage the AP). Now, on to grasping the CTOT (fortunately lots of good resources on this forum)
