Keep it this way, John, we all need some humor in XA forums to keep the balance. I do it all the time.3 points

That's up to you :-), you will be able to configure it to make sloped roofs if it finds that tag. At the moment in the default config, it picks up the roof:material and roof:color tags and makes a texture for it. Sloped roofs are a bit funny, as it requires the building to be simple and all sides orthogonal. The program can be told to simplify the shapes if it needs to.1 point

I have downloaded the new Gizmo and I will re-install Skymaxx; I will try it out but I can't promise you when I will do it because I don't want to risk any important flights. I may eventually try to leave x-plane flying on its own, off line, during the night, on a very long flight, and find out if everything went smoothly when I wake up the next morning. I have calmed down a bit, but I was infuriated when I lost my third long flight. The thing is it was unpredictable, because I had managed a 3 hour plus flight, in between, with no issues. José1 point

John, great news and great job, will be definitely interested. Seems like MAX FX will take care of everything else but clouds, I would even incorporate future Water Maxx in it also. I will be looking forward to your replies here just hope that this crash on Goran's back you mentioned in the other thread will not distract you too much. :D  Just had to say that because you made me laughing after I read your reply. Seriously, excellent job, you guys really make a difference in a way X-Plane looks, love it. Cheers, AJ1 point

I would not fly X Plane 10 without UrbanMaxx V2 being as it adds so much to the ground textures. Am looking forward to your winter textures and hope you can also improve the default southwestern desert textures. Great work John.1 point

I just love the way you want to input your skills into X-Plane world ! 100% for that, that will as you said give us the possibility to tweak up the raw display as we want ! Then we'll have Water MAXX, possibly with great high altitudes contrails that will be awesome ! Thanks for sticking on your quest of " always looking for the best " John !1 point

Colin, that's correct, building:levels indicates how many stories the building has, e.g. buildling:levels=2 for a two storey house. Also, you can height=, e.g. height=10, to indicate a building's height in metres.1 point

That's odd ... unable to duplicate that with SkyMaxx and my X-Hangar DHC6.1 point

One request would be plenty of presets, as someone who likes pretty visuals but has a child's understanding of how colours affect each other...1 point

The Qantas Boeing 737-800 at home over the Simpson desert. Running X-Plane 10 64bit. All the scenery and aircraft in the screenshots is freeware which is pretty damn good if you ask me! Chris K has done a great job of YPAD. Sadly ORBX for X-Plane doesn't exist yet. Oh well, one day Cheers, Andy1 point

Woa! .. chill out man! You're wrong. I've been involved with Tech Support long enough to know that despite what you say, the reality is that it IS most likely to be your PC that has a bottleneck some-where, and you're getting so upset that you're not willing to accept and explore that possibility! The SAAB is CPU intensive, there's probably much more that's happening under the hood than other sims/planes and it's totally unfair to do the comparisons with other aircraft .. that comes across as a misinformed user perspective! First strategy for getting good tech support is to NOT tell the tech support guy he's wrong from the get go , and it's totally unrealistic to expect any optimisations on the SAAB straight away .. right this minute .. because all the guys have been working at it for so long to get it out the door, they need a break from it! C'mon, where's the heart? In the mean time, it's now up to US (the users) to see what WE can do with regard to optimising OUR PC's .. and see if we can't all help each other enjoy this fabulous creation! We need to be solution centric ... do a bit of research and see if possibilities don't pop up with a more positive frame of reference. That way everyone benefits. Cheers,1 point

This one is pretty easy. If you are experiencing NO fps change, then this would be due to your massive resolution causing your GPU to use up as much fill rate as is essentially present. I don't know your system, but you are really stretching it with that resolution and this add-on. If you "have" to have HDR on then you have to live with what you have. Laminar is not done with optimizing HDR, and until they are, I don't know what else to tell you. It's known there are issues with HDR as a whole. No doubt, it is beautiful at night though! Here's the skinny, folks: We're at an interesting point in X-Plane development. We can either stick with status quo, or we can push the boundaries and show others in the MSFS "what's up." There have been some GREAT simulations released over the years, but one of the most common things I hear about these simulated products is that the 3D is either "bad, lacking, sucks, or okay" and the textures are "not very good". We're changing that. The reality is the Saab has been VERY well received thus far, and we're VERY happy with the sales so far. I have yet to receive an e-mail from any customer about this, and those who have complained are right here in this thread. It's a very small group. Hardware will continue to get better, and we will continue to be able (collectively as users of X-Plane) to adjust our settings for the better. The MSFS world has been doing this for YEARS. Had we made a sub-par design, hardware could get better, but our design would never change. I think once Laminar gets around to smoothing out more HDR issues and how it renders, we'll be on a good track and everyone will be happy. There will be a few bad apples, but overall things should be good. The Saab is definitely NOT unusable by any means, especially with people seeing such high speed increases with HDR off. This alone should tell you that the Saab is not the issue, but how HDR renders and is not yet fully optimized is. I would love nothing more than for HDR to just work, because the Saab has some amazing night lighting with it. For this, setting adjustments may be necessary. I am away from home right now, but when I get back into the office I will definitely test out more settings for HDR and see what I can provide as help for people. If we could control this, we would, but we won't sacrifice the look of a beautiful product that runs without issue and with great frame rates for 99% of people with HDR off.1 point
