chris k Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Gimmie a "W", Gimmie an "A" Gimmie a "C"... siss boom bah! - CK. Quote
eaglewing7 Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I had a feeling that it would be released right after the Christmas sale ended. Looks great, and if the reviews from FSX users are anything to go by with regards to Alabeo's modelling, this will be a beautiful aircraft to fly. Quote
steven winslow Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 I've got the Pitts and the SU-26 and they are a blast to fly. This one looks promising, too. They're a bit of a handful to fly, but they're fun once you get a grip on them. Quote
eaglewing7 Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Just purchased the Waco and the Pitts, here's hoping there worth it. But, I'll admit, the price is pretty good for Carenendo quality. Carenado has been getting more expensive with there recent releases, but they do have decent sales from time to time as well. Quote
ryancz Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I just wonder if the engine is well done. Do I have to be careful, or can I overdo it everywhere? And the sound- is it up to par with the Caravan and Skymaster? Quote
steven winslow Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 But, I'll admit, the price is pretty good for Carenendo quality. Yep, $19.95 isn't bad for what you get. Quote

Yes, you can overdo it everywhere if you aren't paying attention to what you are doing. The sounds are every bit as good as the Caravan and Skymaster. You would not be disappointed. And if you were, Alabeo has a money back guarantee. At the bottom of this page, http://www.alabeo.com/index.php , it says the following: Satisfaction policyWe would like our customer have enjoyable experience since the moment of thepurchase until they are flying our products. If you are not satisfied with theproduct we will refund your money immediately. Edited January 3, 2013 by steven winslow Quote

steven winslow Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 Holy cow!! Just took her up for a spin! What a fun plane! Think I'll jump onto PE and do a short cross country with her. The sounds are fun, too. I don't think you would be disappointed, Ryan. I'll post some screenies later. Quote
Cameron Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Holy cow!! Just took her up for a spin! What a fun plane! Are the sounds similar to how Carenado does theirs, Steven? Looking forward to hearing your final thoughts on this whole thing prior to buying! Quote
steven winslow Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 The sounds are similar to the newer HD models. They use SASL and have the 3D effect that Carenado is implementing. This baby has a deep, throaty sound. Makes it fun to fly. I admit I need to do a bunch of pattern work to hone my tail dragger landing skills. She's a fun one, though. Quote
eaglewing7 Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Tried her out last night, and was thoroughly impressed. Alabeo and Carenado are certainly taking the payware market by storm these days. Seeing as how Alabeo modelled the Waco optional 300 hp Jacobs radial engine, I figure they should also throw in the 93 in diameter Hamilton-Standard constant speed prop (also a Waco option for the aircraft). The sounds are awesome, and it really sounds like your sitting behind a large radial engine. This would be the kind of aircraft that you could hook your computer up to a good stereo with a lot of bass and really get that rumble from the radial engine. Quote
steven winslow Posted January 4, 2013 Author Report Posted January 4, 2013 As promised, here are some screenies. Flying V9.7 with pixel shaders off. Still looks pretty good...with good frame rates: Quote
osprey05 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I purchased the Alabeo Waco. What a plane! It flys well and it is gorgeous. A well executed design and congrats to Alabeo and the design team that put it together. It is a plus for the growing high-quality X-Plane aircraft inventory. Quote
cyranosemuse Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 In the product description it says "Aerobatic smoke effect" Is it a noticeable improvement over the built-in smoke effect of XP10? Can someone post pic or video of the smoke? Quote
Phantom88 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Beautiful Aircraft,She flys as good as she looks! Quote
Ntr09 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 I love Wacos. I will probably end up with this in my folder at some point. xD Hope it sounds as good as the real one like you guys imply it does. -NR Quote
steven winslow Posted January 5, 2013 Author Report Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) In the product description it says "Aerobatic smoke effect" For now, the smoke is only the default X-Plane smoke. They're working on SASL based smoke generation, but it is not ready yet. It will be in the future, but for now, the smoke switch in the cockpit toggles the smoke on and off just like hitting the 'x' key in V9.7. Custom smoke is being worked on, which will include colored smoke. Dan was not too happy with Alabeo for the smoke description in the product info, but it is coming. I don't think the lack of custom smoke right now takes anything away from the Waco experience. She's a sweet ride! Edited January 5, 2013 by steven winslow 1 Quote
Ntr09 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) Most Wacos are just "Sunday Cruisers" anyway. -NR Edited January 5, 2013 by Ntr09 Quote
