MatthewS
I should have also asked, what about normal mapping? Would seem that any "state of the art" product needs to utilise bump mapping now-a-days, and maybe even in the cockpit!
Goran_M
I'm one of those guys that prefers to do something properly. Nothing against bump mapping, but if it has rivets, I would rather model them. However, I added rivets to the Saab, and it was 40 000 extra faces!!?? So I'm being swayed more to the bump mapping. I do like the illusion of bump mapping though and the Saab will have bump mapping. And I can safely say, so will the 747.Goran

Goran_M
Tweaked the exterior and added a few little things. The wings are NOT attached. I have to blend them into the wingbox. Panel is still being made. Screenies of the panel coming in about 2-3 days.
MatthewS
Looking really nice! Can't wait to see the cockpit shots.edit: Noticed there are mounts for wipers. Will the 747-200 feature moving wipers, visible from inside and outside the cockpit? That's a killer feature IMHO, not sure if they can actually clear the windscreen of rain, but how amazing it would be even to just see moving wipers! Little things like that really add to the level of immersion.

OlaHaldor
Is it possible to use animated textures in X-Plane? If so, I'd suggest you do that for the rain effects.
Zach Decou
Animated textures are used do draw the 2D panel and rain effects in 2D view. Javier has mentioned using rain effects and wipers to clear them on his CRJ (don't remember where I saw it) and I suspect he will likely use the animated rain texture. If I am wrong about this, please correct me. I have been curious about creating rain effects for a long time...So it is doable
Goran_M
The first 2 panels are finished. Can you guess what panels these are?Goran
OlaHaldor
Oooooh can it be torque, oil pressure etc?
YYZatcboy
I know, but I'm not telling because Goran asked me not to . This aircraft is going to be so wicked.
Choix
I will try to guess it logically... We have four columns... with the same gauges in a different rows... So the main number is FOUR... I guess it's 4 engines...
eaglewing7
Looks like the engineers panel...Could be wrong, could be right.
hobofat
FE panel on the 747-100, looks close enough!http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran-Air/Boeing-747-186B/0881174/L/&tbl=&photo_nr=10&sok=&sort=&prev_id=0881175&next_id=0881173

Goran_M
Welcome to my nightmare...It's an "interesting adventure", to say the least.Goran
Zach Decou
Thank jeebus for array modifier.
Rafael Fernandez
Array is a good tool but I think it is better to just duplicate on the axis because when it comes to putting it in X-Plane alot of things can go wrong. Looking good Goran.
Goran_M
Some modifiers will be applied. They remain un-applied" to make it easier for UV mapping.Anyway, panels are making progress. Engineers panel is finished. Overhead panel is 90% finished. I'll probably go back over them to make sure everything is just right.And....some fun with Yafaray...
