  1. Take the first 24 hours to learn how to not crash and then join the all day Group Flight hosted by X-Plane Junkies on Sunday. We have a dedicated TeamSpeak so we can all help each other out and share great stories. Come fly all day or for a few legs. The whole schedule and details can be found here. Hope to see all you early adopters there! www.xplanejunkies.com/ixeg Capt. Rizzo
  2. I have been waiting the full 6 years... I have my "Captain's voice" ready.
  3. That's pretty radical... No more videos for you, go squash those last remaining bugs. I can send high caffeine coffee to you so you can work 22 hours/day.
  4. It would actually be nice to eventually release the -400 and -500 variant. I think it is safe to say that would take considerably less effort than completely new aircraft. I also don't know if a cargo variant ever was a factory option, but I have seen some quick change models, combi and full on cargo -300s... Maybe a cargo variant for those freight dogs out there.
  5. Are you trolling Cameron? Because you are getting my blood pressure all raised up when you mention the word "release" in a post...
  6. Video or it doesn't exist... (That's my comment to bait another video out of you guys).
  7. Yes... The items that change monthly are departure and arrival procedures which is a bulk of what the AIRAC data is. VFR/IFR charts is a different subscription and honestly for those, websites like SkyVector (USA) is great. If you fly the big iron on published procedures and don't like hearing from controllers "Can you accept the XYZ5 departure? The XYZ4 is out of date." then monthly is great. It isn't a big deal usually, but I can justify the $3/month for the annual... And it feels good to not see the CDU message saying the data is out of date.
  8. If you fly online a lot, the annual cycle is certainly worth it... If not, what -VETTE said is a great solution as well. The AIRAC cycle updates are just something I consider a cost of operating a virtual aircraft fleet. It breaks down to only a few US dollars/month if you do the annual. Rizzo
  9. I have found that TCAS on VATSIM is really something I ignore mostly, especially when not being controlled. Idiot pilots will be idiots... All TCAS does is annoy me. Now if everyone had a TCAS system that formulated conflict resolution then maybe it would be something to put energy into. Anyways, I am in the camp of "who cares" about TCAS features because the people it "saves" you from are the ones that don't care anyways. My two cents. Rizzo
  10. Hey TKyler... When this thing ships, you need to come up to Austin for a tour of Redbird Flight Simulations and some celebratory fancy tequila sipping. Capt. Rizzo
  11. I get that situation for sure... I cannot confirm nor deny that I have ever assumed an instruction from ATC and been wrong. I can also not confirm nor deny that I have flown flights online while drinking the fanciest of extra anejo tequilas. On a slightly ore serious note, maybe say if the "At Or Below" restriction is within X nautical miles from the T/C then hold the climb at the restriction. If it is beyond X then climb to the set cruise altitude and later descend for the restriction. X can be calculated the difference between the set cruise altitude and restriction and the time/distance it takes to meet the restriction... Plus a little buffer. But I do stand behind my idea of having the CDU display "Go home pilot, you're drunk!" because it is probably true in my case.
  12. Yes... I guess I was taking the scenario of ATC adding a restriction that is not published... I was assuming (which isn't a good thing to do in software development) that a Clearance/Tower/Departure controller wouldn't assign a restriction on the "arrival" portion of the flight. We will see if you win after release... I would assume that if the controller/pilot enters a restriction that the plane cannot perform it will display a remark like "Go home pilot, you're drunk!" Call it an easter egg for idiots.
  13. Of course I may be an idiot but to me it seems like it should behave differently depending on when you enter the restriction. For example, if you are below the "At Or Below" restriction is entered the aircraft will climb to that restriction and stay there until it passes (Example B). On the other hand if the restriction is entered when you are already above the restriction the aircraft will descend at the appropriate time to meet that restriction (Example C). I am also back to coding flight sim stuff... just not for IXEG. Rizzo
  14. I am planning an epic group flight the first weekend after release... Check it out here: http://www.xplanejunkies.com/ixeg/ #BeenWaiting5Years
  15. Too bad Rotate didn't put as much effort into their aircraft systems as they did on their 3D model.
  16. Like Cameron said, yes... Not too many Classics made the pond hopping trip though.
  17. Now if I only had some idea of what weekend these flights will take place! Trying to keep every weekend open isn't easy... Please please make sure it isn't the weekend of Dec. 19th... I can't change the plans on that day.
  18. I am planning a fun group flight event for the release of this! Please join us, it will be an epic two days for sure. http://www.xplanejunkies.com/ixeg/ Nicholas Rizzo www.XPlaneJunkies.com
  19. Speed climb works a whole lot better... Thanks for the help there. Rizzo
  20. I engage Autopilot about 1,500 feet above ground, little over 2,000 above sea level. I am below my target Alt which is set to 5,000 feet above sea level. I am quite sure I set the barometer correctly, I put in a manual weather setting of 30.22 just as the tutorial instructs. Rizzo
  21. I set fuel, weight and stab trim as the tutorial instructs. I have not modified the stab augmentation in the XP settings from default. Rizzo
  22. I would like to say I am a good reader... I have walked through the Tutorial 5 times through all the way to take off and everything is great until I hit the Auto Pilot Engage button and the plane noses down, just like the Tutorial warns you about. What am I missing? I can't go anymore sentence by sentence... is XP 9.67 the issue or something else? If it helps, I am on a 2.8 i7 iMac and no x737 installed. Thanks. Rizzo
