Hiya mmerelles, Well, 600 sterling for what will relatively soon become a mid-range gpu is at the very top of my buying limit, i really thought wth have i done last friday, but welp, i love it i mean if the Ti and maybe the Titan (if they will do a titan) were out per say, well i would of gone for a Ti up to a max of 800 But, coming from a damned good overclocking r9 290x this fe 1080 is still amazing me If i am right in my thinking, when the Ti version comes out, i think it might be the first gpu when coupled with a good cpu to max x-plane out, after a minor glitch having to buy another hdd, i'm saving for a G-Sync monitor next, then no matter what unless reviews are bad i'm getting a 1080 ti when funds allow, once you've seen the new eye-candy in the flesh i swear you'd sell a kidney to have it all maxed at high fps (well i might consider it hehe) No idea where in the world you are or what gpu you have now, but i have another R9 290x, think it's an asus, stock fan setup, used maybe at max for 2wks in x-fire, if you pay the postage you can have her, my watercooled 290x is for a mate down on his luck or you could of had that Offers there if an r9 290x would be of benefit to you I see all your posts helping others, you're usually the first to help which is nice Will go n check name etc, no idea if any warranty left on it, so i'll edit back Cheers Tony Edit : Asus Dirct CU II https://www.asus.com/uk/Graphics-Cards/R9290XDC2OC4GD5/

Hiya's, I've lost count of how many hdd's i've gone through in over two decades of building rigs But recently i've had one after another fail lol Ok they're out of warranty, but they sure choose the worst time to fail on me I was redoing a vanilla install of x-plane 10, also shifting precious data across drives, and had beta on another hdd, boom, my largest 7200 hdd died, somehow corrupted windose, good ole SFC /SCANNOW did the biz, redid x-plane and steam for a game i play Lost around 1.5tb of my precious data, only a fraction i had already started to spread across remaining drives For all my double and triple attempts at saving data i've still lost out to the domino effect grrrrrrrrrr Off the top of my head in the last 18mths i've lost five drives to use n abuse So, today i am running late so can't make the shop to replace my 2tb hdd But i have a dilemma ........ Just spent on a gtx 1080 (pretty dazzling performance) so do i get a 3Tb 7200 spinner, or a 500gb SSD My funds at the moment can only stretch to around 150 sterling At the minute i have OS and Vanilla x-plane on C: 128gb SSD, and a 500gb SSD (few months old) and an aging and dare i say it, about to clap out 250gb 7200 spinner lol My thinking was, 500gb ssd same as one i got not long back (replaced another dead 7200 spinner) use the new 500gb ssd for OS + My main x-plane with all the goodies, my first 500gb ssd for beta testing etc, salvage n sift data onto the 250gb spinner Or slap a 3tb spinner in, slap all i can on it, redo windose on the 500gb ssd, have x-plane on it too, and use the 128gb ssd for vanilla x-plane backup and small amounts of data, and use the 250gb spinner knowing she'll prolly die sometime soon as my luck's going lol WWYD ?? Hiya, Update when you can I've got a 3bed semi, only use the largest bedroom, so 2 spare 'She' won't let me use a spare for gaming Says she'll never see me, so i'm down in the lounge/living room, but hey, she controls the remotes and i have a 7.1 headset ftw lol I can only dream of a cockpit setup in the largest spare, who knows, i'll keep on trying to work my magic on 'her' hehe Tony

Win10 Pro x64 5820k at 4.7 Watercooled Palit Gtx 1080 FE at around 2.0 core - 5643 mem (that's what msi says, eg : +650 over my stock) Asus Rampage V Extreme 4x8Gb DDR 4 3200 at 3200 128Gb SSD OS Drive Sim runs off old HDD 7200 spinner ! hence glitches until larger SSD (also weather changes darn fast for some reason !) Just had my large 2TB HDD die so hey ho, SSD later today i hope X-Plane settings i will display in-game, sim is Stock, no HD mesh etc, i also have fps capped at 30fps for smoothness, still new to nvidia settings lol

Hiya, Not had it myself, but i have cycle 1607 installed, if i get chance tomorrow i'll try the same route settings And to agree, i've been lucky as also i've had no drastic problems that wasn't fixed with a very fast hotfix Heck, can't live without this old girl now Tony

gsuri, You running W10 ?? You can strip down the latest driver easy enough, once you've done that, use DDU (uninstaller, extract eg: to desktop and once again as it's double wrapped) Use windose uninstaller in control panel, remove all nvidia items Use DDU, once you reboot into safe-mode with DDU, use the remove all driver options (top iirc) When back in windose, use the stripped down driver, you won't get a control panel, so goto program file folder on OS drive ("X or C etc:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client\nvcplui.exe") and make a shortcut from it to alter ctrl-panel settings Quicker to google rest, see which nvidia items are running in the background (they shove some in even if you choose not to install lol) and best just to rename like xxxx_old (xxxx is name etc) Iirc one is in sys32 folder and other maybe in prog folder (i had 2 on my rig to change) This cuts all the crud running that i don't need (3d etc etc) To make a stripped down driver, dl latest/your choice driver, extract using winrar/7zip etc, just keep these files for a driver install ............ Display.Driver (folder) + NV12 (folder) + PhysX (folder) + EULA.txt + license.txt + ListDevices.txt + setup.cfg + setup.exe (i don't need 3d or sound etc, but choose items suited to you) If on W10, i suggest if you can live without it, google howto rename Cortana (you'll be doing yourself a favour lol) Then, it's down to you to find what else you can stop auto running in the background Now in my control panel i have messed with settings and still doing so, so no good me trying to give info yet, coming from the red corner after quite a few years i'm still getting to grips with nvidias settings And also, a nephew has so much crud like steam/different messenger services running at startup it's not funny lol, anything like steam etc, turn off the 'start with windows etc' and only use when needed (sorry if this sounds easy but i don't know how well you are with startup items, so just throwing this out there) And if you haven't got it, i would try MSI Afterburner, the info is great, and if you're into getting more fps well this is the tool for it (latest is a beta, works great) Hope some of this might help, if in doubt ask Tony ps : Added 2 pics

10.50 Beta4 Can't remember exact sim settings but besides shadows i think it was about maxed out, fps went 24-25 ish at worst (in the thibk of those scrapers, normal alt was way high fps rates as expected) , still fine tuning my new gpu, but hey ho, loving the betas KJFK NY area enroute KATL (slight sight-seeing tour i did lol)

Hiya's, Thankyou to All the Team for the hotfix And as to having to have a seperate folder for the plane, i'll chirp in from a laymans pov As to having to install a product into a differing plane folder/location, so be it ............. If you put yourself in the position of a team working to create a great product with actual years of their time being input, then having to recoup that time via sales, how the hell would you feel when many try to get that product for free !! and at the same time wanting to evolve it to make it better FFS i was into my 1st or 2nd livestreaming viewing of Catstrator very shortly after the release of the plane, some young scrote pm'ed me asking if i would give him a dl link to the plane ! Would anyone here expect to work for free and be able to live especially with living costs these days, of course you wouldn't If having a seperate install folder/location protects their interests and keeps the coffers filled so more fixes can come out, i for one couldn't give a damn where it installs as long as it's working (do not add bugs as not working, i mean if fails to open etc) Sheesh Rant Over lol Have Fun Tony

Hiya's, Just got a Palit Gtx 1080, running all at stock until i get to overclock her (lightly until waterblock arrives) All x-plane settings maxed bar shadows which are on 3d aircraft Holy Cow Anyone wanna chuck some nvidia control panel settings my way is/are more than welcome to do so Been used to ATI control panel etc for the last 7yrs so nvidia one is kinda different terminology I will say, the auto gen on beta2 10.50 is staggering maxed out ! From there, only way i can think without searching is for scenery, spawn at a field, see if it's bare, if so note it down, do this for all your airport/addons you already have at your disposal, to see which new fields etc have been added into the globals (easiest way i can think of explaining or even doing it i think) Also another tip for your INI, don't be afraid to of adding an x and other letters/numbers to make something go to the correct ini location, i use the letters AA for my airports eg : AA EGCC Manchester, takes a while renaming if you have lots to do, but it makes life easier later .......... Also for plugins i use the letter M, coupled with numbers eg : M 1 OpenSceneryX or M ruscenery you can easy make yout ini perfect Also, note down the libraries needed as you add airports etc, it's easy to get lost in the clag of installing many at a time, then having to find a problem as you may of missed a single library I will add an ini i was using, a pic speaks a thousand words, may help you and others, i think i've got most in the correct placings now, but adding certain items means others after reading up might need them moving ! lol And the Best Part of doing this simply lettering/numbering ini system is ................................... When you add say KLAX as AA KLAX Los Angeles, no need to mess n move the newly added file, simply backup your last ini, delete/remove your ini in custom folder, fire up the sim, hey presto, your ini is now all sorted, i find it so easy, but the initial work/renaming is a pita if you have loads to do, but once on top of it, man, it's a doddle Hope this helps in some way Have Fun Tony scenery_packs.ini
