  1. I'll take the very good mostly done license. Thank you!
  2. Flying the JS32 from EKBI to EDDL
  3. So we'll not only need a paint kit for the plane but also for Jan himself. I can already see "VoKuHiLa Jan", "Afro Jan", "Dreadlock Jan"...
  4. There isn't an ILS at LOWI, the localizer and glidepath are just there as a guidance for the loc/dme approach. You need to land manually and use the charts to plan your descent. That's also why Cat II or III is not possible at LOWI, and there are very high visibility minima for Cat I apporaches.
  5. The reason is that you chose the wrong instance of NTL, which can easily be seen by looking at the distances. You route would have a total lenght of nearly 10.000nm When there are multiple entries for fixes, navaids or airports with the same name (NTL in this case), the FMC will prompt you with a list, and you need to be careful to choose the right one. In this case you seem to have chosen the NATAL (NTL) VOR in Brazil instead of the NORTEL (NTL) VOR in Sweden.
  6. Sure, a 980ti is probably overkill for many. But like I said, a 770 with 4GB is still adequate when you choose reasonable rendering options. I didn't have any serious frame rate issues with this card and could still run enough eye candy.
  7. VRAM usage does not only depend on the resolution and scenery, but also on the plane, weather, cloud plugins, what settings you use for the rendering options etc. So one user might only use 1GB, while the other one fills up 4GB at the same scenery and resolution. But coming from a GTX 770 with 4GB of VRAM, i can assure you that a 970 with 4GB is totally adequate for running X-Plane with enough eye candy. I you really want to make a significant step forward from a 970, I would recomment a 980Ti.
  8. This reminds me of my first flight sim experiences some years ago, when color monitors were a thing and I only had the keyboard for controlling the plane. I always thought to myself "why the hell does the nose go up when I push the down-arrow?" I also think that scrolling on the Airbus MCDU should be the other way round, because everyone who uses computers is used to the fact that pushing the down arrow moves the view of the page down and vice versa. Scroll wheels, touch controls etc. are other concepts, which of course could be implemented the other way round if the MCDU had those.
  9. Nice! I also work in product development (although cars, not software), but I guess the process of finding bugs is similar. More than once did somebody outside of our subject area find something very simple like a wrong hole diameter, and we didn't see the bug despite looking at the part every day.
  10. Out of curiosity (no, I definitely don't want to be a beta tester, I'd rather buy the finished product and enjoy all the hard work you guys have done ): Do you also have beta testers which are pretty new to flight simming in general, or at least don't have much experience in flying FMS-equipped airliners? Because I can imagine that some bugs are not found when the product is used in the way it's intended to be, but when people perform actions that an experienced simmer (or real world pilot) wouldn't ever think of, even when he tries to mistreat the plane.
  11. Carenado Cargomaster over Yosemite
  12. I won't update unless I absolutely need to (i.e. when some future version of software that I can't or won't replace requires Windows 10). My PC is running great and snappy with Windows 7 on SSDs at the moment, and I don't feel the need new funcions or a more modern UI. To get rid of the annoying W10 update junk that Microsoft is throwing at us, I use the GWX control panel: http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/2015/08/using-gwx-stopper-to-permanently-remove.html I got pretty conservative when it comes to major OS updates, because most of the time it made things worse (or at least didn't make them better). The only two updates which were really a step forward for me were Win 95 -> XP SP2 and XP -> 7. On a side note, I just downgraded my 2010 Macbook Pro back from El Capitan to Snow Leopard (yes, that's a downgrade of 5 major versions!), because every major update came with a drop in performance and i don't give a #### about the eye candy.
  13. You could check out the Grumman Albatross by Khamsin/HydroZ. I think it's one of the best seaplanes for X-Plane at the moment. http://asn-xp.aerosoft.com/?page_id=11161
  14. Great news! Thanks Jim and Laminar for working out a solution so quickly!
  15. Of course there will. The constant feeling of "man, I could swear I have forgotten something" itching in the back of your head.
  16. Having used FSX for years, I thouht that mouse wheel control was essential. But now, after flying X-Plane exclusively for about a year, I pretty much changed my mind. Going back to FSX from time to time, controlling the MCP/AP, radios etc. with the mouse wheel feels unnatural and uncomfortable for me. So I guess it's just a matter of what you're used to. I would now prefer if mouse wheel support would be strictly optional, if it's implemented in a future release.
  17. Totally different subjects imho - depite both being 737s - so I will definitely fly both regularly. I'd compare this to flying a DC9 vs an MD-80. In FSX both (Coolsky DC-9 and Leonardo MD-80) have seen heavy (ab)use by me.
  18. Great, thank you very much!
  19. Sorry, I misread that and in my head MIN got PL -> ground idle. I can now confirm that the problem is not present with the CL below min.
  20. I need to test if the issue is present when the PL is below min. It's definitely gone when applyig normal climb/cruise power.
  21. I know, i was just kidding. I just don't like busses.
  22. Windows 7 x64 X-Plane 10.42 Custom built trottle control with a USB interface from Leo Bodnar Both power levers are assigned to the same axis, only the right lever shows the problem in the sim.
  23. As long as your DME and radio compasses are working, I guess you could calculate your altitude by tuning two VOR/DME stations and then use triangulation based on the current DME and direct CRS to the stations. Of course that would only be feasible at higher altitudes, as the error is rather big (probably greater than +/- 1500ft). It would be more of an estimation. Or - if time permits - you could just overfly a DME station, but I don't know how accurate the DME reading is when being directly overhead. Side note: If this was an Airbus quiz, I guess the answer to all those questions would be: you're f***ed
  24. It's not that my system can't handle it (4790K OC'd and Titan X), i just like to have other setting pretty high and don't want to sacrifice those in favour of extended DSFs.
  25. I will try to analyze the issue further. E.g., maybe the problem is only there with the engines running or it only begins to show after a certain point through the startup process. I only made two flights with the Saab since using 10.42, so I didn't have much time for further investigations.
