Looks like I found myself a new home. I grew tired of the disrepect the common man was given over there on a daily basis by the nazi power mongering moderators. It is such a shame too because their own arrogance and ignorance has offloaded a whole lot of business and contributions from a lot of good people. I had earmarked a good $1000 this year to spend on x-plane products. So their arrogance anda mental disability has cost them money. So in a way I'm glad I found this place. All my contribution in scenery and aircraft development will go here instead free of charge as well as any purchases if I find any I like. Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a pervasive pattern of preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, mental and interpersonal control at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency. Probably best to avoid the place. That being off my chest it is time to move on from that cesspool of tyranny.2 points

So I've seen quite a few people post this question around many different forums (including ones from which I have been banned): What happened to G2XPL and where can I download it? In November, I uploaded a scenery file for KFCI on request of a friend in a Facebook group. The imagery was sourced from Google Maps and I had been too ignorant to read their Terms of Use prior to saving it. Within a day, I had received an non-capitalized grammatically incorrect message from your friend, Six7. The message went something like this: i guess google has changed their terms of use, moron. delete the file or u will be banned That wasn't very impressive. One thing I cannot stand, being an "A" English and a History student, is unprofessional presentation. If he had calmly explained it without an insult and with spell check activated, perhaps I would have returned respect. No way. I just deleted the file and sent him a message similar to the one that follows, after some inquiry as to the terms of service, of course presented in a very vulgar and rude way from Mr. Six7 (whose identity I later learned but will not disclose): I am not impressed with your lack of professional conduct. I have removed the scenery on your request, however I would like to inform you that there are other scenery files and tools utilizing Google Maps data and imagery. I also sent a message to Nicolas. Six7, one of your moderators, sent a rude and insulting message to me when I had mistakenly uploaded a file that violated legal terms. I would like you to please talk to him and request that he keep up a professional personality when he is dealing with such situations. You can only guess what happened next, I was permanently banned, IP and all. I can't even reset my router to get back on. That website has ceased to be from my point of view. Anyways, I tried to think of a far play that could get me back at them. I had already used a false identification as I had been banned before for asking about Mr. Chang and his wonderful work. I would have to be careful. They were two points ahead of me and I only had one potential point to gain. Then it dawned on me that I had downloaded a scenery tool that never worked for me because of its strange architecture but it was designed for the average X-Plane user to create his own orthoscenery: G2XPL. I proceeded to hunt down a friend of mine who was in law school and they said "just basically read the terms of use. If they are in violation of the terms of use, then they can be sued. If they are providing a tool which is in violation of the terms of use, they can be sued." Wow. It's that easy. I proceeded to create a three page document outlining the terms of use of Bing Maps, Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, even MapQuest (although I pity the fool...) and created long interpretations that could not be misinterpreted. Fortunately, of all events in this situation, I saved this email that I sent to the administrators at X-Plane.org and XPFW, as they are almost all the same people. *************** To all administrators of X-Plane.org, Forums.X-Plane.org, and related sites: This is a notification of possibly illegal software available from your site. I was recently made aware of a certain "G2XPL" addon available on the X-Plane.org forums. This file is completely illegal. If no action is taken to remove it from the website I will report it for violation of copyright and terms of use of Google, subsidiaries and many other organizations. The add-on accesses, uses, and shows Google Earth/Maps imagery without visible attribution being present at all times. http://www.google.com/permissions/geoguidelines.html The add-on accesses, uses, and shows, and under certain circumstances saves Google Earth/Maps imagery without written documentation from Google, Inc. stating that they have explicit permission for use of all imagery available through the Google servers. This is a direct violation of Google Maps Terms of Use, Section 2, Part A through Part F. http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/help/terms_maps.html All of the above statement(s) are in direct violation of Google Maps Terms of Use, Section 3, Part C, Part E (in result of all other infringements), Part I (directly quoted; "[Any party is prohibited to] use any robot, spider, site search/retrieval application, or other device to retrieve or index any portion of the Google services or Content, or collect information about users for any unauthorized purpose", as there is no legal documentation of permission having been given to the creator of Gmaps to X-Plane.Please consider this very carefully. I expect to receive documentation of permission from Google, Inc. immediately. It may be sent to this email address. Otherwise, I will attempt to contact as many of the organizations that could be at risk in this situation and raise their awareness of the illegal activity on the website. I was banned from the forums for posting of "illegal" files. Therefore, this file should be removed with the same intention and the user who created it should be banned. I am doing my duty to the law and attempting to reduce piracy and illegal action due to my realization of my ignorant activities. Yours respectfully, Colin J. S. A copy of this email has been sent to many other X-Plane related websites. *************** The G2XPL addon was immediately pulled from the website. I cannot quote from the email I received in reply as it was lost in a clearout of my inbox, however he said something along the lines of what follows: look kid, knock it off. if you dont leave us alone well take your parents to court. we have their contact information He proceeded to provide faulty information that he obviously got from a 5 minute search on 411.ca. Here ends the story of how G2XPL ceased to be. In case you thought I was just some kid who is learning how to build scenery and loves every bit of it, yep, you're right. I also professionally pissed off Mr. Taureau, and with founded causes. Hope you now understand a bit more, now I sit here waiting for hate messages to roll into my inbox...1 point

Nicolas antics won't be the downfall of the org...it may not downfall at all. The org was built by the community sharing free stuff and users wanting that free stuff. There is, was and always will be a desire on the part of flight sim users to seek out free stuff of the highest quality. The two biggest flight sim sites are also the biggest repositories of free add-ons. Until someone provides more than the org does, it will survive. Only time will tell how long it will thrive though depending on whether or not the market gets tired of it, but its probably safe to say its got a whole lot of years left. The attraction of the free stuff fuels the membership and we all know where there are lots of people there is marketing opportunity and money to be made and that is Nicolas interest....he's a business man. Everything comes with a price of some type though. To get all that goodness, one usually has to subject themselves to various things, be it Nicolas behavior...forum marketing, newsletters, crowded forums, fiesty mods, mediocre sales support, too many topics or the whole "needle in a haystack" when looking for good free stuff. The org is a volume-based, 'low-cost' economy....and for those of you familiar with Wal-Mart, you know that there is always a large following for it. I shop at Wal-Mart for some stuff, but they do not always have the product I am looking for when a certain level of quality is desired. I rather like having an alternative and right now there really isn't one so for a lot of folks its the only game in town. Now I have friends who have become reasonably wealthy because they have a product on the Wal-Mart shelves and that appeals to lots of folks and is why the org will always draw the most developers as they all have $ in their eyes and volume means $. Getting a product on the super-store shelves is very appealing to folks, but you never know what you're going to get. I never thought I'd see a marching dinosaur for sale at a flight sim store. Nicolas has his hands full over there given the org size and a part of me says he's doing what any other business man would do in his shoes, but the other part of me says, 'you went there , you made your bed, you fed the monster so deal with it' Right now his best defense is the ban button. When given a choice between giving good customer service or working on the next newsletter that will result in more sales by new flight simmers, take a guess what path he'll choose. Remember, this is a renewable market and in his volume based approach he honestly doesn't need repeat customers, a new crop of them are born every year! If one person balks out of Wal-Mart upset they got a bad deal, Wal-Mart ain't goin' down. The org is a good resource, but to me it's like that Wal-Mart resource. Yea it's got just about everything....but you might not get catered to very well, not always easy to find help, some of the employes are rude and not interested and a lot of the stuff is cheap but low cost (free) is the market. You know what you get when you walk in. I am interested in a new type of place myself. TomK1 point

King Air is a bit tough to start. you have to set the condition levers to lo idle and then his the starter buttons and hold them donwn for a really long time. I've tweaked this for the next beta 12...which shouldn't be terribly long. We are coming down to the last few betas before RC. The starter model is much improved over this beta 11, being much closer to the real thing. TK1 point

Leen's done some fantastic liveries, also utilising the bare-metal. No reflection is not 100% perfect, but he's got it down to a fine art.1 point

Would it be okay to request a livery for this wonderful aircraft? To any willing artists, I would like to have N8704. It's a beautiful still flying C-47 restoration owned by the Yankee Air Museum near Detroit. If you search the registration, there are tons and tons of pictures available. This aircraft is also a daily visitor to EAA AirVenture flying in passengers. Thanks.1 point

What boggles my mind is how ONE PERSON and ONE WEBSITE can have such an influence on a product like XP especially when that website is not "officially affiliated" with Laminar Research. This is why competition is good and I really wish we had many more vendors available, like for the FSX market. Seems like .org is running a monopoly and as such, he assumes the I'm the only player in town so you put up with me or your banned attitude. Really sucks having to endure such narcissistic attitudes when dealing with a commercial entity. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 21 point

The updated complete flight plan for the entire route of the 2013 Iditarod is almost complete. This annual dog sled race is perhaps the last great race in the world. It will be posted at the website of EPOCH Alaska Air (http://www.unex-planedapps.com/) with continuing updates for use by anyone. Links will be provide here to that posting. I hope you enjoy. Remember, the last great race in the world occurs in March. You can follow it all, and, fly it yourself as it happens. You will not find a detailed trail map, and especially a detailed flight plan, anywhere else on the internet. Join the Adventure.1 point
